Xari and his cadre gallop past Blood-Bones-Teeth and toward the gates of the city. The gates have been shut and guards stand at the ready to stop any further incursions in to their city. The young officer on horseback raises his hand in warning as archers behind him draw their arrows back trained on the warriors who approach.

Halt or we will fire!

Looking back on my previous roll, the rules, and my character sheet I *think* I could have had one extra die for free. I mention this only to see if I understand the rules correctly. I have Awareness Excellency which would add a die to Awareness rolls and since I am a Solar so I don't pay mote cost to do so which means I can always add that extra die to Awareness rolls?

Ah yes, so you're close, you actually add a number of dice equal to your awareness. So in this case you would have had 5 additional dice!

Cool. I feel so lost.. but in a good way! It's always great to have all the "mystery" of a new game that you lose when you play the same thing (DnD) for 40 years. I feel like dropping more dice!

LOL. Another 5 successes! That's some keen surveying that is for sure!

I'm beginning to see why Xari is a combat powerhouse.

Would you like to also use your 2 stunt dice? This game is even more fun when playing live. It just feels good to roll like 20d10s

OOC:
Nah. I'll save them for when I do something dumb. :)
Rolling tons of dice was always one of the appeals of playing Champions.

alrighty, well since you had double successes I think I can give you a bit more
The Seeker's brow warms as Essence sharpens his vision beyond the bounds of human visual acuity. He can see clearly out to the market district. The monstrous tide crashes and whorls consuming everything in its path. Two more humanoid figures stand like buoys in those rough seas. As the horde stampedes all around them, they laugh and enjoy a warm embrace.

Losing no time, Zefir used the help of his servant to mount on his horse, before rushing toward the danger. He was mostly looking for immediate threats to civilians, and especially important and influential people of the city, whether they be nobles families or merchants.

Seeker takes in the scene and weighs his options.
The enemy numbers are too great and it appears there are even greater threats leading the horde.
He shifts his position, trying to get a better view of the Old City where the Delzahn cavalry seems to be organizing. If real help is to come, it will likely come from there.

Seeker decides not to get personally involved until there are allies of sufficient calibre and number to give the defenders a fighting chance. He takes note of possible escape routes, for he surmises it way well be necessary to engage in a retrograde operation if the situation continues to unfold along the current path.

@Zefir It's not long before you ride up to the assembling Delzahn Cavalry. Lieutenants shout orders and prepare their units for battle, updating on the fly as new scout reports come to the captain.

@Seeker A rider approaches the Cavalry. His armor does not match that of the Delzahn and he carries an ornate blue jade powerbow.

"Another player enters the field," Seeker says in a low voice, not addressing anyone in particular.
The new arrival has Seeker's full attention. He observes the interaction between him and the Delzahn, curious if this is someone with authority over them. The jade weapon is somewhat telling. After all, it is not just anyone that carries such a weapon he muses as he glances down at his own staff.

Spotting one of the Lieutenant right on his path, Zefir abruptly stopped in his tracks as his horse raised his front legs in the air with a snort.

Zefir took some seconds to think. Maybe now was the time for a bold move ? As his horse recomposed itself, he looked directly at the officer.

Lieutenant ! I have been sent by Suesif Khan himself. Report on the situation.

While his voice was loud to cover the ambient chaos, he had spoken in a typical military fashion, authoritarian but not aggressive. He hoped the man would be too distressed to question his legitimacy as his "superior".

in the future, I probably wouldn't have you roll for this, but again in the interest of learning the game we will this time. This is a persuasion roll against an Extra type NPC. Just give me a single Force + Embassy roll. Your previous description counts as a stunt so you also have the 2 additional Stunt dice available to use on this roll or bank for later.
Nov 14, 2021 7:23 pm
OOC:
I'll use one of the two Stunt bonus for this action, which should mean a 2 Force + 5 Embassy +1 Stunt. Correct me if I'm wrong tho !

Rolls

Force+Embassy+Stunt Roll - (8d10)

(931281036) = 42

Nov 14, 2021 7:59 pm
OOC:
I believe it was 2 stunt dice, so you get one more
Nov 14, 2021 9:25 pm
OOC:
Can't I use only one of the two and bank the other ?
Nov 14, 2021 11:27 pm
OOC:
No, you have to use them in sets of two. Not sure why, but it's very explicit in the rules.
Nov 15, 2021 6:51 am
OOC:
Alright, I’ll bank both if it’s still possible for you at this point then, so that would be 42 minus 6 = 36.
Nov 15, 2021 8:58 pm
OOC:
Essentially Seeker is waiting for PCs to appear on the scene so that he is not fighting without allies against the horde.

OOC:
In this game, you don't need to total up the values. Each individual die is compared to the target number of 7. In this case you an 8, a 9, and a 10. Each of those is a success. Unless stated otherwise, all rolls have the double 10s feature, meaning that 10s count as two successes. So you have four successes on your roll. The default roll difficulty is 3, meaning you need 3 or more successes for your action to succeed. In this case you got it, and have one threshold success which doesn't mean a ton for this roll, but could in future rolls.
