Mrak draws his sword again and slowly advances into the water, trusting his darkvision to help him find his way, and staying alert for danger.

"Sewers?" Ghillie asked. "Large sewers. I'm quite used to such in Sharn. Some of the best specimens grow in these dark, damp, fetid conditions."

The druid's eyes briefly glowed green as his vision slipped beyond the normal range and he scanned the area. He thought of the possible dangers that might exist in such a place, at least those he was familiar with in Khorvaire, but there should be similarities between many creatures that would inhabit such locales.

"Careful, son. Might be some nasty things in that water."
OOC:
Casting Darkvision. Ghillie has darkvision out to a range of 60 feet for the next 8 hours.

"Ah, tis nice to be underground again," Gunnar says as his eyes adjust to his Dwarvish darkvision.

As the party moves forward, he engages their new changeling companion in conversation.

"So, what's your story? How'd you get mixed up with those zealots back there? Not sure if the sewer was what you had in mind for a hiding spot, but it ought to do the trick for now. Those prissy wankers won't want to get their armor dirty, I reckon, bwahaha!"

Just like tunnels during the war... it is hard to tell if Kevin is remembering fond or horrible memories. But he moves to the front with confidence

"I have to apologize to those who can see in the dark, I will have to spoil things for you."
Alin takes out their everbright lantern and adjusts the hood to shine a narrow beam ahead. They cast the light about.
"This city was built upon the ruins of the giants…."

You wade into the water, and it remains about waste-deep. You travel for about 15 minutes, turning left and right at various intervals, until you arrive at a cavern opening. The path comes up out of the water, and you find yourselves in a huge cavern, probably 60 feet high and 120 feet wide.

The walls have ornate carvings, looking almost like the faces of our world's babylonian reliefs and statues.

Upon inspection, you see puddles of water, some 10 feet in diameter, interspersed randomly around the place.

Where are we, do you think? Mrak looks around the tunnel for anything out of sorts, then studies the carvings intently.

Old giant dwellings. Kevin gives some of the puddles of water a quick inspection. Just puddles, something deeper, part of a design?

You just see the cavern continue forward. If Alin uses his everbright lantern, he would see that the cavern continues farther forward than he can discern. There are these bas reliefs carved along the walls all through this cavern, and as you walk, you begin to notice some kind of story play out.
OOC:
History checks from the group, please!

Upon further inspection of the puddles, you realize that they are actually deep, as if the stone here was actually more of like a strange stone pipe or something, and that below is actually some kind of continuous pooling of water.
OOC:
I am having a hard time describing it in narrative form.

Basically, it looks like the cavern you are in is the inside of a gargantuan stone box, and the 10-foot diameter puddles are actually just holes in the walls of the box, and there is water underneath the structure you are in.

You got the message across
Kevin picks out a hammer and ties it to his rope. This rudimentary plumbline is lowered down into a hole just to get an idea of how deep they are.

"Giants. I've never seen a live one up close, just taken samples, and the ones who built this are far too old for samples."

Ghillie avoided the bottomless puddles, pondered on the complex's purpose, and examined the ornate carvings for both archaeological and monetary value.
OOC:
Using my Historical Knowledge feature: When you enter a ruin or dungeon, you can correctly ascertain its original purpose and determine its builders, whether those were dwarves, elves, humans, yuan-ti, or some other known race. In addition, you can determine the monetary value of art objects more than a century old.

Alins sweeps the lantern across the room and tries to scan the carvings in what may be the proper order. "Random hole patterns may not be part of the original design, could be that something else created those, maybe you dont want to go dropping anything in them…"

That is why I have my hammer on a rope. To see how deep it is. After his test, he packs hammer and rope back away, and turns his back to his hole. We should keep moving
OOC:
And this would the cinematic opportune moment for a tentacle to raise from the hole :D

The rope seems to go in for 50 feet without hitting bottom, and you bring it up without anything cool/weird/crazy happening.

Don't get into the holes, they are deep. Lets move on

Alin shines the everbright lantern into the darkness.
OOC:
Is there an obvious exit or just the continuation of the "box". Do we know what story is being told with the reliefs?

The darkness seems to extend beyond the reach of the everbright lantern as you walk slowly forward.

Those of you with a result higher than 18 (and Ghillie, who can reasonably interpret the results using his background feature) ascertain that this is a historical depiction of the generations of the Giant civilization.

Those of you who speak Giant can recognize some of the letters on the walls, but Ghillie knows that this is very old Giant language, which, at the start of this cavern, is not discernible. As you progress in the cavern, it is as if you are witnessing the transformation of the Giant language over the millenia, as it becomes more readable. You are able to read some names, such as Cul'sir Dagon, Cul'sir Fay-shont, and some of the names are scratched out or worn out by time.

You also a circle with relief profiles of 5 different fire giants, each facial profile surrounded by a shape resembling an element: Declant Su'lat (fire), Fallon Su'lat (water), Saren Su'lat (rock), Cortyr Su'lat (air), and Rawtha Su'lat (something whispy, but you cannot figure out what element this is).

You also start to notice the puddles not just into the floor of this cavern, but you see the puddles along the walls now, and along the ceiling.
