The Changing Hunt

Mrak again slips his shoulder under the changelings arm, wordlessly helping him through the door.

"Do you know such a place? We are new to this city."

"I'm not sure, *pant pant* but at least out of this human district.

" *pant pant* These racists assholes are not above ganging *pant pant* up on fewer numbers in the streets, and they *pant pant* are not above lying to the authorities.

"You must have *pant pant* come from someplace safer than here *pant pant*."

Mrak moves his hands to the changeling’s chest. They glow a radiant blue, and the changelings wounds heal further.

Raelyn thanks the orc, then changes his form to that of a human man. He says, "Do any of you have a shirt? I would prefer to hide some of my features."
Mar 15, 2022 6:56 am
Gunnar has been keeping his distance. He doesn't want to crowd the injured man, and figures others are better at the healing. Instead, he watches at the door for trouble.

As the others bring him forward, he hears the changeling's request for a shirt. Gunnar considers draping his bear skin around him, but figures it will only make things worse.

OOC:
Is there any clothing or tablecloth in the room that can be used to cover them?
"Do you have the strength to change your look a little my friend? If we encounter those singleskins outside, it it would be best if you could slip away with some anonymity."

There are some tablecloths around, but nothing that is specifically clothing.

The changeling shifts his face to that of a human, then thinks for a moment, focuses, and his ears develop little points.

He says, "I am not sure what has happened to me, but I cannot shed these gashes on my chest, no matter how much I try to alter their form.

"Thus the need for the shirt."

Gunnar, you hear in the distance the sounds of many gruff voices, and you surmise that it is coming from a few blocks away, and it's coming in your general direction.

As you look about, you do see some alleys that may allow you to hide or travel discretely from here.

"Hey fellas, sounds like the tins cans are headed back. Now, I'm all for heroic last stands, but I've been thinking of turning a new leaf lately. What do you say we try some slinking in dark alleys and such?"

Gunnar hikes his thumb toward the rat maze of alleys out back.

"Tablecloths will do. I walk around in moss just fine. Come on... away from that rabble."
Mar 16, 2022 4:37 am
In a pinch you can hide in my bag of holding. But we gotta go now! Kevin has lost patience.

"Let’s move to another location my friend. It seems that the Traveler is throwing us onto a shared path for now".
Alin wraps a tablecloth around the changeling like a cape.

You see his skin shift, and then retract into his skin briefly, but the change doesn't hold, and they reappear.

Alin quickly guides the injured changeling outside. Keeping an eye out for the soldiers of the silver flame.
OOC:
I want to invoke the acolyte background feature "Shelter of the Faithful" to know where there is a safe haven for changelings in this city.

The crowd seems loud, and seems about a block away now.
OOC:
Are you all progressing into one of the alleys?

Mrak tries to steer the others into an alley away from the noise. I don’t think we want to stick around for this. Then again, it might make for a good fight.
Mar 18, 2022 12:07 am
"Into an alley and keep moving!" Ghillie urged. For all his complaints, the old druid moved quite quickly when necessary.
Mar 18, 2022 4:16 am
Gunnar approaches slinking in the alleys with the same gusto as he would driving his axe through an enemy's bones.

"Am I slinking or what?"

His wife frame crashes into a rubbish heap, sending a small pack of disgruntled stray cats screeching into the alley.

"Alright, it needs a little work, bwahaha!"

Kevin takes out a Rubix size kube and sets it on one of the tables. It got ever-changing lights dotting around the cube making it look cute and entertaining, or ominous and dangerous, depending on your level of paranoia. He is betting that the silver flame guys will think the latter and it will hopefully buy them some time

The group navigates an alley, and it seems to turn left, then right, then right, then left. It feels as though the alley is more labyrinthian than it seemed at first, and after about 10 or 15 minutes of traveling down, you don't hear the voices behind you, but you also don't know where you are. You realize pretty quickly, also, that the alley is now a tunnel that traverses down under the city.

The tunnel is huge, big enough to fit a giant, and the architecture changes from what you know to be Thranish human style to something that you haven't seen before (but what Kevin figures is from the Cul'sir era). It is too dark, so those without darkvision would need to have some sort of light source. You also start to notice that the way up ahead of where you are is flooded (probably knee-high water from what you can tell).
