Down in the Depths

You all step aside as the cube comes slowly through your direction, and then continues on its path southward, opening the northern pass that it previously occupied.

After some exploration in these halls, you find an empty closet, one unassuming dead end to the west, and one dead end to the east with a strange divot that looks to be the size of Krinn. There is also a path northward that seems to continue on into the dungeon.

"Kevin, can you place me into that groove? I haven't seen this section of this floor before. I want to know what's going on here."

Once it is placed in that groove, you see the various gems encrusted into the docent glow in a strange interval, and then those gems pulse with light all at once, and then the lights stop pulsing.

Kevin gets the sense that the integration is done, and he removes Krinn and places him back onto his iron companion, and Krinn says,

"We should head northward. The northern part of this floor has the first library that we should investigate.

"Be careful, though. According to the interface, there are monsters roaming the halls."

As you all look back after focusing on this interaction, you realize that Mrak is gone.
OOC:
Is there anything you would like to do before continuing onward through the dungeon?
Jun 14, 2022 7:03 pm
What kind of monsters?
OOC:
Onwards - I'm anxious to get this game back to a more stable posting frequency

Krinn replays some footage of some bipedal insectoid creatures walking the halls, and in some other areas, some arachnoidal creatures roaming the halls. He then shows some library footage, and you see in the bright light areas of the library some blood, fir, and other signs of animal consumption in the middle of the room. There are also small/medium-sized animal bones and such strewn around, and some feathers strewn about.

"Look at the size of them!" Ghillie said excitedly. "I hope we can communicate without having to stab them to death."

Onward!

Gunnar shrugs at Ghillie's comment as if he wasn't sure which of those two options he was hoping for.

Onward!

Alin looks a little disappointed as Krinn relays information about the creature’s roaming the halls and continues to scan the corridors for signs of intelligent life.
OOC:
Follow the left wall!

As you continue onward, Alin sees double doors, a single door down the hallway a bit, and in the middle of the hallway a strange path leading to a dead-end 10 feet in, but the wall seems to be made of some sort of swirling, liquid metal (kind of like in Super Mario 64).

Kevin wound'nt be the man that is is if he didn't poke the metal-looking liquid with a stick.
Jun 22, 2022 6:25 am
"Careful, Kevin. Colourful things are often deadly," the druid cautioned as a vine poked out from his leafy chest. "I can poke it from very far away."
OOC:
Thorn Whip say 'creature' but could I also use it against an object like the T-1000 doorway just to see what happens?

Doubledoors are a sign of importance, I suggest we check in here before moving ahead further
OOC:
Once poking the mercury switch is resolved, Alin will check for traps/locks and attempt to unlock/disarm any. Queuing this up for expediency .

The thorn whip goes into the swirling metal-looking liquid, then seems to reflect off the surface of the swirling metal, but seems to enter at the point of reflection, simultaneously (it is a weird behavior, to be sure). Ghillie surmises that this is some kind of portal, but requires some kind of key in order to pass through to the other side of the portal.

Alin analyzes the double doors, they determine that there are no traps, and the locking mechanism is easily undone by the rogue. He opens the double-doors to find a strange, very large room and a giant-sized statue, with its head missing. There is a broken statue head lying on the floor nearby.

OOC:
The halls and doors would not allow passage of giants, correct?
Jun 23, 2022 8:09 am
Not without crouching here.

Based on what Gunnar can surmise (being from the Mror Holds and understanding tunnels and digging), these tunnels would not be able to accommodate a giant with their crawling in most of the areas.

It seems like these were built for smaller creatures, like their drow slaves and what-not.

That is, unless they could somehow shrink themselves down to at least a large size.

When Kevin reaches the relative fresh thi-kreen body, he draws his sword and readies his shield.
Carefull now - there could be monsters about.
Jun 25, 2022 7:25 am
"A fresh kill," Ghillie said as he inspected the body.
OOC:
Looking over the body to determine how it was killed and what may have killed it.

Attempting to give Ghillie advantage on his nature check through a help action, if DM says it's okay. Adding the d20 roll

"The lower you go, the weirder it gets," he responds.
Jun 25, 2022 11:33 pm
Alin looks disgusted at the gore. "Certainly not how I would have done it. A mess like that is a mindless kill."
Alin frowns at Gunnar "A man like bug you say? What would eat such a thing? A giant size bird? ".
