Second round of combat.

Combat Order (DEX+INT)/2
Baelrick: 16
Tyr: 15
Goblins: 14
Peli: 14
Thallan: 13
Daglin: 12

Combat Map Note: I placed your counters on the battlemap where I felt it would make sense. If you don't like your location, feel free to change them by a few squares, so long as you don't place yourselves inside any caves...

Baelrick is up!
Jul 25, 2022 3:38 pm
Though it is tempting to charge into the cave to display his superior skill and power, Baelrick instead pauses and waits, hoping to see what the goblins decide. After all, it was better to fight out here in the light, than in the cave in the dark. And to let them come to him. Tire their little legs out instead.
OOC:
Baelrick will delay his actions until after the Goblins have acted.

Tyr is up next!
Jul 25, 2022 5:19 pm
Tyr continues struggling to build a fire. It finally ignites and pitch and sap crackles and pops as he heads to the mouth of the cave. Lights one of his torches, then throws the burning bundle at the goblins, sending a shower of sparks and fire at them.

OOC:
Tyr would have taken his action to light his fire, so he could not throw anything at the goblin this round. You can always move forward to prepare to throw your bundle next round (same attack roll), but you would become the #1 target if you do being in front of everyone else...
As Tyr finally manages to master the elements and create fire, two goblins come out of the cave, spear in hand. Noticing there are more people than the single halfling they had originally spotted, they shriek back in the entrance of the cave, probably to warn their companions. They then proceed to attack the nearest combatants. One goblin will attempt to poke at Peli, and the other at Baelrick.

Oh, ouch! While the goblin misses on Peli, Baelrick's girth offers a wide target, allowing the rather small goblin to score a critical hit! This means that Baelrick needs to roll a critical success on a dodge or parry if he wishes to turn the hit into a normal one, otherwise the goblin will inflict max damage ignoring AP!

Despite his size, Baelrick proves to be surprisingly nimble! As the goblin rushes in with its poking stick, the man attempts to dive out of the way! If only that blasted Tyr weren't in the way! Baelrick nearly catches his beard ablaze as he moves, stopping just in time to trade an encounter with the firebrand for one with the spear!
OOC:
Baelrick has a Major Wound threshold of 7.

Hmm, Tyr? Are you still moving forward to throw your burning bundle next round? I'd need to know so I can apply that goblin's attack against the appropriate target...

OOC:
Tyr is still moving forward.

Okay, good news, Baelrick, you're not hit critically by a goblin, bad news, Tyr is instead. Tyr can use his reaction to make a dodge check (considering you were using a flint and tinder to light up a fire, I don't think you have a weapon in your hand to parry with). You need a critical success to turn the critical hit into a regular hit.

Tyr nimbly leaps to try to avoid the spear.

Tyr's nimble sidestep was not as nimble as he though it would be (perhaps he's still under the influence of his mushrooms). Tyr takes 6 points of damage which cannot be reduced by his armor as the spear head sinks deep into his side...

Peli is up next!

Edit: Tyr, with 13 HP, your MWL is 7, not 6. It's rounded up. Luckily for you, otherwise you'd be in deep trouble right now... XD

Peli, alarmed by the movement at her left, glances quickly at where Baelrick and Tyr seem to be... performing some ritualistic fire dance to confuse the goblins, she guesses? It looks chaotic and doesn't seem to work as intended, seeing as the shaman takes a hit into his side!

"Tyr! Hold on, we've got it! Bean, sic 'em!" The halfling yells as she dashes forward and tries to strike the attacker with her scimitar in a wide swing, her dog simultaneously aiming to bite at the goblin's ankles.
OOC:
I'm aiming for the one attacking Tyr, if I can.
Edit: lol, this damage roll.

Tyr fell back from the goblin clutching the wound in his side. He leaned heavily on his slingstaff muttering what could only have been a prayer in his tongue that was a strange mix of ancient Elvish and something older, a guttural language that could be felt in the blood of all men.

"Du har sået til de Berje, hvor du sidder der.
Du hoster domols de Sunn ohfangn, og har sat månen og de stjerne på en sådan måde, at jeg ikke altid ham finne.
Du såede em is, hvor et woose sull, og aach, at et er i mit blod.
Du bryder viljen og sætter den i stykker.
Doust en hammer, som et sværd
Tag mig udenfor, og sæt mit sværd sammen, meget tæt på, og på en sådan måde, at jeg ikke kunne forhekse mig."

"You have sown the mountains, and from them you see all.
You initiated the sun and set the moon and the stars in such a way that I can always find home.
You sowed the iron, within the stone and in my blood.
You break my will and set it right, to hammer me into your sword.
Take me apart and remake me, wholly new that I never again may be broken."

The goblin attacked by Bean attempts to dodge, so this particular goblin will have used up its reaction... and it manages to avoid the bite!

Are we as players taking control of Thailand Thallan, or are you running him?

Saving the autocorrect because it's too funny and a very different question.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about that...

Yeah, if someone could take over for Thallan for now, it would be appreciated. I did posted up his character sheet here.

It is a small thing to kill a goblin. Though the mortal men were making such a big hubbub about the task, these were not the first nor the last goblins that would cross Thallan's path. With the ease of practiced movement, he nocks an arrow, aims at the pitiful creature with the newly bloodied spear, and looses. While one can spend countless hours practicing the the perfect draw and accurate aim, it is hard to predict men suddenly flinging flaming branches around in front of you target. Which is what happens. Which is why the arrow clatters against stone.

Daglin is up next!
Aug 2, 2022 4:07 pm

Oh, I forgot about Baelrick who was waiting. You can act.
