Taking one of the torches, Baelrick looks to the cave into which the goblin ran. "Let us make chase, then. A lone goblin is a very dangerous foe, much like a cornered wolf. Only smaller. And more likely to bite. Be on guard, my friends."
Aug 12, 2022 1:17 am
"So be it." Tyr left his pack on the ground and scooped a Torch from the fire. Allowing it to rest in the crook of his slingstaff. He followed after Baelrick holding the Torch high over head to eliminate long shadows.

Daglin nods and follows his companions. Disappointed by his own performance, he was impressed by the two mighty blows they gave to the goblins. He feels safe enough in their company.

You make your way deeper into the cavern, with Baelrick's and Tyr's torches showing you a bit more of the complex. You enter what seems to have once been an old storage room judging by the rotted remains of crates and barrels, however, it seems to have been hastily converted into a guard room. You notice a rag thrown on the floor to serve as impromptu seating area and low table, as well as a variety of small knick-knacks laid on it. Further to the south-west, what you can glimpse are large rusted cell doors which seems to have fallen off their hinges and now rest on the floor. You think you can also spot a few rusted iron bars still upright... However, from that room, you can hear the sound of low growling and chains being jangled...

Peli wanders around the guard room, examining the scattered trinkets and other various items left by the goblins, before turning towards the cage. "This sounds like an animal! Do you think it is a varg? Or a dog? Maybe we can free it!" She saunters closer to the iron bars, trying to see what's behind them.
Aug 13, 2022 9:40 am
"Wargen are given to shadow. They are evil through and through. Wolves are simply beasts that act on instinct, warg can communicate and they choose to be evil." Touching the warg skull on his headdress Tyr held the iron point of his slingstaff ready in case the beast decided to lunge at Peli. "But if it is a wolf I will do as I can to free it."

Bringing the torches light closer Tyr peers into the dark attempting to ascertain the nature of creature within.

Bringing the torch closer to the entrance of the southern room, Tyr lights up more of the place. the room seems to be divided into 3 cells; 2 smaller ones and a 1 larger one. From each cells, large mangy guar/attack dogs burst from the darkness, barking, growling, and snapping at Tyr, each leashed to the far wall of the cells by a large rusted chain which is long enough for them to reach anyone who would stand in between the cells.

All of a sudden, the chains of the two dogs from the larger cell goes limp with a metallic sounds which suggest that whatever was holding them in place broke and fell to the ground, or perhaps was undone by someone (one goblin did ran away after all...). when they realize they're not being restrained anymore, the two dogs rush at Tyr.

Looks like a new combat will begin...

First round of combat.

Combat Order (DEX+INT)/2
Baelrick: 16
Tyr: 15
?
Peli: 14
Thallan: 13
Daglin: 12
Guard Dogs: 9

Combat Map Note: I've placed Tyr so he could lit up the next room, you can place yourselves where you want in the first room and/or passage. Tyr and Baelrick have a light source each, allowing you to see deeper into the cave and alleviating some darkness penalties (p.31 and p.56)

With his companion, lithe as he may be, taking up the entirety of the passage into the Hall of Hounds, Baelrick finds himself and his bulk being held back. "Feed them, and treat them with kindness. Mayhaps we have found new friends in this cave," he calls out, looking over Tyr's shoulder.
OOC:
Baelrick will hold his turn until after the Hounds go.

"Easy boys." Tyr moves aside to open the hall to those who wish to pass, also to give the dogs a free way to pass him not wanting to antagonize them further. He dropped the torch between himself and the hounds and fished into his pouch for some dried fish and cheese. "Be good dogs and you'll earn a treat." He loved dogs, and had no desire to hurt them.

Tyr was not foolish enough to try to get a strange dog to eat from his hand though. Nor did he fear them should things go sideways. Rearing to full height he threw each a bit of fish and cheese. Eating some himself to show he did not intend to poison them. "Easy now. Plenty of food for good dogs."

Tyr's gesture doesn't seem to endear him to the dogs. Still, food is food and the scrap of food Tyr threw might offer a momentary distraction... This is when you see the goblin from last time dart from the larger of the three kennels and into the farthest of the two smaller ones. Guess you finally figured out how those two dogs got free... Clever of the little bastard...

Peli is up (also please place your counters on the battlemap, and if you cannot do so because you're on a mobile, please tell us where you want to be placed.)!
Aug 14, 2022 11:01 pm
Peli lingers behing Tyr, hesitantly watching the dogs and holding Bean back by the collar, more for comfort than out of necessity. The terrier is growling though - quietly but threateningly, ready to fight fang and claw if other canines dare to attack the group, his fur bristling.

"Do you think we can sneak by them?" The halfling whispers to the others as the two freed dogs sniff at the food Tyr provided. "The goblin is going to let the other ones out! And I'm not good at sneaking... But I bet I can slip after him!" She jumps and, without further warning, quickly slips around the shaman and dashes towards the kennel, throwing over her shoulder: "Bean, stay here!"
OOC:
I'm not entirely sure if I can move through Tyr, but the idea is to run around the dogs and get into the kennel after the goblin. I know it'll put Peli in attack range of one of the dogs, but I hope it'll startle the goblin out of freeing it. XD

Bean is holding until the dogs act.

OOC:
The squares represents an area of 2 meters (about 6'6" for our metrically-challenged friends), so you can move past Tyr easily, though a hostile dog is a different deal entirely... So I'll use the Athletics roll to get through that dog instead.
With all this waiting, we're up to Daglin!
Aug 16, 2022 3:33 am
OOC:
Since kwll said that they are away for two weeks, I'd say just have Daglin hold too.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that... I guess they didn't had time to make their character public...
With everyone waiting, it will be up to the guard dogs. Thanks to Tyr's little diversion, all guard dogs will be rushing to the piece of food which he dropped. Let's see which dog got to it first... Well, the beige dog which was already in the corridor was closest so it got to it first. The other dogs then bark angrily and snap at it, making the dog who ate the treat having to growl and snap back to defend itself. They're not fighting yet, but it might devolve into that by the looks of things...

Everyone else who was waiting can now act in any order.

"Quickly now, while they're distracted, let us make pursuit! There are secrets yet in this cave, and likely goblins aplenty. Hurry, now!" Baelrick slips past the northerner and continues hurrying down the cave structure with staff and torch in hand.

I've placed your counter about as far as he can go without having to tumble through fighting dogs...
Moving around, Baelrick's torch reveals a bit more of the kennels.

I don't know if it's still my turn or not...
"It's still back here! Get the little creeper, before it disappears," cries out Baerick as he catches a quick glimpse of the goblin.

OOC:
You could always try to perform an action after having moved. But there is still Bean, Thallan, and Daglin waiting. We can move to one of them.
