Snake's Demise.

Raising his staff into the air, Baelrick begins mumbling arcane words that almost reverberate with an arcane power. He can only just barely see the goblin from around the corner, but his eyes stare with an intensity that seems odd coming from the drunkard.
OOC:
Oops, somehow I missed the last message. Rolling to cast a spell before continuing. Palsy with Magnitude 3, base distance and duration. 4 magic points. Spell should take effect early next round, on Baelrick's INT (18) instead of his normal initiative.

Okay, who's the target?

Baelrick casts his spell on the goblin and... it seems like it's starting to go stiff, but then manages to brush off the effect of the spell.

Daglin will approach the dogs, but not attack right away, hoping Tyr will successfully turn them to their side next turn...

Thallan can act now (or Bean...).

Bean, intent to follow Peli's request, stays in his place by Tyr - low growls of warning escaping his throat whenever any of the dogs look the way of the group.
OOC:
I'm not sure if I can do this mechanically, but I'd like for him to prepare to fight. Just in case. XD

Thallan coms around the corner with a smooth ease that does not reflect his recent failings. His bow is leveled at he goblin, and his eyes invite challenge. His arrow does not loose, as they will likely need to try talking with the creature.

I guess that would mean Bean is still delaying...
Second round of combat.

Though the goblin had shrugged off the spell, Baelrick knew that he creature was cornered and likely terrified. He stands tall with his staff held out towards the goblin, and yells in a booming voice. "WHERE ARE THE REST OF YOU? WHERE ARE THE VILLAGERS?!"
OOC:
"Intimidation, no breathing. Don't give a care if I start the goblin peeing." -Papa Roach, probably

OOC:
Seeing your "enemies" are still pretty full, that goblin will have a +50% to its Persistence. Still, you did managed to roll a critical success, so it will need a critical success to not surrender...
Baelrick's deep booming voice resonates in the room, and Peli will see the goblin drop his spear and puts his hands up in the universal "I surrender" sign language... and there is indeed some soiling of the self involved...

Even the dogs recoiled suddenly, in recognition of their new alpha. Those who had been snapping at the dog who got the treat thrown by Tyr are now licking at its muzzle in apology, as if they felt this is what they did to displease Baelrick.

You are out of combat now. What do you do?

A smug look crosses the broad face of Baerick, a pleased grin underneath his flaming shock of beard. He turns to one of the hounds and retrieves a piece of dried meat from his pack, working on befriending them (or at least being able to pet them).

"Now then, perhaps we should learn what this creature knows. Dwarf, see about restraining it. Thallan, if it runs you may yet regain your pride in aim."
Aug 27, 2022 5:01 pm
The hounds approach Baelrick, cautiously wagging their tails stuck between their legs. They lick his hand while accepting the treats, then show him their throat, roll over on their backs exposing their bellies, and shows him other signs of submission.
OOC:
Well damn, looks like you got yourself 4 attack dogs...
"I have a name you know..." Grumbles Daglin as he makes his way towards the goblin to tie him up. "Bah! It stinks!" He continues complaining as he ties up the goblin.
Aug 28, 2022 6:14 pm
As the goblin surrenders, Peli grabs his spear and hesitantly steps closer. "Um, hi? Do you speak common?" She tilts her head, examining the goblin warily, then steps away to allow Daglin to restrain him. She doesn't stop speaking, however, addressing the goblin while taking a quick look around this corner of the room: "Are you going to cooperate? You better cooperate, because we'll fight you again if not. And you should take better care of your dogs, it is bad for them to live in such small cages."

She watches Daglin and the goblin for a moment more, then exits the cage and saunters back to where Baelrick is surrounded by dogs. Bean greets her with a bark and warily circles around other canines to join the halfling. "Aww, what nice dogs!" Peli carefully approaches one of them and offers her hand to sniff - accompanied by some treats, which she always carries around; can't have any companion go hungry at an inopportune moment. "Are you going to come with us?"

The goblin stares quizzically at Peli for a moment as Daglin ties it up.

"Speek coomin? What you talkin littel humie? Ilf? Ya, Me speek some ilf. Good for telling prey they gonna die, die..."

The sound of such beautiful language being defiled by that creature's mouth is very unpleasant to Thallan's ears...

"Small humie want me coprate? Me not sure what coprate means, but me do it, me do what you want me do. What littel humie want know?"

But Peli had sort of became disinterested by the goblin's talk at that point as she started approaching the guard dogs. At first, they started growling at Peli as she approached, but they suddenly perked up when treats were offered. They then turned to look at Baelrick, as if to demand their new leader if it was okay for them to accept the treats...
Aug 30, 2022 6:15 pm
Baelrick gives a small gesture to the hounds, a wave of the hands to allow them to take the treats. If he kept Peli away from the dogs, he'd never hear the end of it.

"Only few goblins here," the large man drawls to the goblin, as though the creature was both dumb and hard of hearing. "Where are other goblins? Where are small village humans?"
Aug 30, 2022 10:40 pm
"No, not just goblins. Orcs in tribe too. Then snake lady told us bring in wild men so we be more. But orcs and wild men not get along too well... Then beastmen arrived and found snake lady. Said they called here... Beastmen with us now! We strong! We many! Though me no know how many. Me fingers tied so me no can count... Villagers, those snake lady not eat are in prison, through secret door here."

He then nods his head towards the south-west wall between the cells.

Peli is happy to play with and feed the dogs, though she keeps an ear out for the conversation with the goblin. Her head shots up when she hears about the snake lady. "Is the snake lady magical?" The halfling turns towards the goblin, curiosity filling her tone. "Can she make people sleep? And is she here right now?" Wheatstalk attempts to speak slowly, so it's easier for the goblin to understand. Her own grasp of Elvish isn't exactly impressive either, but she tries.

The goblin smiles, showing its awful jagged, needle-like teeth.

"Yes, magic. Snake lady immortal and talk in my head. She called beastmen to us. Snake lady our new god! She here now. Either beyond death room or chapel. She keel you then eet you."

Daglin narrows his eyes at the last words of the goblin. Not really thinking he could understand or answer, he can't help but ask: "What was the purpose of attacking the villagers? What did this foul lady tell you was her purpose!" It came out probably a little more loud then he expected.

Tyr moved to where the goblin had indicated there was a hidden door and began to look for it. Not wanting to be caught off guard with a supposed snake goddess threatening them.

Baelrick guffaws at these questions, as though he found them ridiculous. "This wretched creature wouldn't know. Nor will he understand the words you use. But therr is something he would know..." He whirls on his feet to glare at the goblin. "Open the door for us. Or we'll feed you to our dogs."

OOC:
This secret door was at +25% to find as the inhabitants were not being too careful to hide it, and yet Tyr managed to fail that... XD
As Tyr examines the completely wrong patch of wall, The goblin nods at Baelrick's assessment of the situation.

"Big man right. Snake Lady used word me no understand... Expriment. I guess this other word for eating, This what Snake Lady always does after playing with food..."

Then answering to Baelrick's threats, the goblin makes his way towards a patch of wall near where Tyr is examining.

"No, not here wild man, here..." He then turns to Baelrick again. "This work better if me have hands untied..."

"I'm sure it does," Baelrick snarls to the goblin as it requests its freedom. He unties one of the wrists, but holds the rope as though it were a lead on a hound. He raises his staff in a threatening gesture, but lets the goblin get to its work.
