Slipping nimbly through the throng of allies, Thallan nocks his bow and looses an arrow while moving into position. Having the hounds as a distraction would surely assist his aim... right?

It did not.

After catching his breath for a while, Daglin decides to help Peli at least. He attempts to strike the nearest goblin to her.

Splattered goblin was just what group morale needed!

OOC:
Probably, as this goblin will need a critical dodge/parry just to turn this hit into a normal one, and IIRC this goblin was already wounded...
The goblin finally falls dead.

The two wildlings, seeing there are only a few guard dogs in front of them, take a moment to try and pump themselves up... ...and fail...

Third round of combat.

Combat Order (DEX+INT)/2
Baelrick: 16
Tyr: 15
Peli: 14
Goblin: 14
Thallan: 13
Daglin: 12
Wildlings: 12

Combat Map Tyr and Baelrick have a light source each, allowing you to see deeper into the cave and alleviating some darkness penalties (p.31 and p.56)

It's Baelrick's turn again!

Rolls

Goblin dodge: 52% - (1d100)

(96) = 96

Wildlings Berserker Fury: 33% - (1d100, 1d100)

1d100 : (67) = 67

1d100 : (83) = 83

The hounds continue ripping and tearing in their slavering fury! Baelrick looms behind them, a mass of man with the hounds at his disposal. He points his staff and barks a command to the wildlings, this time. "Surrender!"
OOC:
The first bite is a crit, so it will do max damage unless the Wildling saves and reduces it to a normal hit... in which case it still does max damage. The second hit is only 1 damage. This is in top-down priority.

OOC:
Another critical hit? Well, this is counter-balancing the previous rounds horrendous checks...
The wildlings will attempt to dodge the suddenly vicious hounds (with one only capable of possibly turning the critical hit into a normal one)... It was a valiant effort on the part of that first wildling, but sadly it was not a critical success, so this one will suffer a Major Wound, be unable to roll his Resilience -50%, so he'll fall unconscious and will most likely die soon...

So one wildling is near-death, the other one has a scratch.

Well, that Wildling already took his reaction to dodge, so Tyr continues to nickel and dime him...

seeing the gobling dead, Peli will sheath her scimitar and recover her blowgun. Thallan is up next!
Oct 12, 2022 11:42 pm
"Agreed, no mercy for the enemy," Thallan says as he unleashes an arrow straight into the chest of the last wildling. The impact is enough to force the man back before falling to the ground, heavy.

Yep, that will do it...
The last wildling falls to the ground with a thud. The battle finally over. You wait for a moment more, unsure if more hostiles will not bear down on you, but nothing happens. No one else comes for you. You do not hear the hurried footstep of reinforcement in the distance. Nothing... until a single voice coming from one of the cells in the adjacent room breaks the silence.

"Hello? Hello? Are you still alive? Whoever you are, please, get me out of here!"
Oct 13, 2022 7:32 pm
Torch in hand and hoping for a particular captive to be revealed, Baelrick rushes into the next room. He gives a quick, "Good boys," to the hounds as he passes, trying to reinforce their activities with his command.
Oct 13, 2022 7:44 pm
While Peli retrieves her blowgun and calls for Bean to heel, Baelrick makes his way towards the cell where he thinks the cries for help originated. As he makes his way, he quickly pets his new hounds which wag their tails and give his hand a quick lick signifying they're happy to please their new alpha... Reaching the cell, Baelrick finds a dwarf who looks to have been roughed up a bit. The dwarf shields his eyes from the light of the torch indicating he's been living in the dark for a little while...

"Oh good! You're not one of those greenskins or wild men... The name's Fitch Brenn. I was supposed to be heading to Rith-Amdol to bring supplies for the elves' war effort, but got ambushed by those filthy greenskins nearby. My men are all gone, and I'm afraid I'll be next..."
Oct 14, 2022 7:52 am
Daglin rushes to his kinsman when he hears the sound of his voice. "Fitch Brenn! Well met! My name is Brann, blacksmith from Alasgar mountains. Now I understand the rumors: it seems your absence put the elves into anger. Where are you from? What happened to the supplies?"
Oct 14, 2022 8:13 am
"The little folk did not mention dwarves." Tyr mused and collected the spearheads and strings he found looting the enemy. Leaving the rest for the bear.

Now that you've all pretty much entered, you can see entire room for what it is...

"I'm from Gandagethul. As for my supplies? I think they must be nearby... If those savages haven't already used or broken them all, that is..."

Seems Fitch if right, in the larger of the five cells, you see a lot of goods roughly piled up without too much care. It will take you some time to shift through all of that. And it will be made all difficult to do it while making sure the whole pile doesn't come crashing down on you...

You also notice an orc in one of the other cells. He seems to have been there a while and also looks to be in rough shape. When he notices you, he gets up, walks to the bars, and taps his chest.

"Me Gargor."

As for Tyr, he won't be finding much swords as the wildlings had long spears and slings. The only one with a "sword" here was the orc jailer who had a scimitar, a small shield, and a short bow with 10 arrows. The goblin for their part only had short spears. The orc also had a ring of keys, probably for the cells doors. As for valuables... Tyr will find two fish bones, a waterskin, two left over foodstuffs, and two pieces of strings.

"With haste, the keys! We must let free this dwarf, though not before he answers some questions. Tell us, stout one, who else have you seen come through here? We were told of many villagers that had been taken; and one in particular, by the name of Janos. We also hear tell of a snake woman, hidden somewhere in these tunnels."

For the time being, Baelrick ignores the orc. He will be spoken with soon enough.
Oct 14, 2022 11:46 pm
Tyr takes both strings and fashions himself a necklace of the spearhead from the wildling he had killed. He also took the scimitar from the orc and one of its ears. Hanging it from the spearhead, a grisly trophy. He looked at the Orc in the cell, raised an eyebrow and drew his newfound scimitar. "We should send it back to the Shadow."
Oct 14, 2022 11:47 pm
"In time, wild man. There is much we can learn from it before we take such action."
Oct 15, 2022 12:01 am
"So tell me uruk, what do you offer for your life?" Tyr brandished the scimitar threatening to slash.
