Snake's Demise.

It looks like a regular dagger, used for self-defence for most law-abiding citizens and other stuff for less scrupulous members of society. Its only peculiarity is that it is made of dwarf-steel, and as such of higher quality than regular steel daggers.

"Bah, there is nothing of value here! Let us keep searching for more captives, and bring back whatever parchments and tones we can carry!" Baelrick storms out of the room and moves to the remaining door, hoping to find Janos alive and well behind it. Hoping, but not expecting.

Daglin shrugs, pockets the dagger and follows Baelrick.

Tyr collects the vials of bloody solution and assists in collecting the papers into the chest. He could not read bestial either and didn't want to know what the savages were up to. Content that they were dead and done.

You collect anything you might think might be used as evidence of the foul things which happened here. Perhaps later you might come upon some scholar who might be able to figure things out for you.

Baelrick opens the remaining door in this part of the complex. It opens to a large circular chamber which is split in two by a large depression. At the bottom of this depression, there seems to be a pool of a strange sickly-sweet smelling pinkish-purplish ooze gathered in a pool. ike some sort of dark pit or well with ooze at the bottom... This sounds familiar... Across the depression is a bridge which leads to the other side and another door which is slightly ajar. On the other side, Baelrick also spots what looks like a puddle of dried blood and torn cloth form a robe, the sort a wizard would wear...

Just to make sure, have you bid your farewells to Gragor or is he still with you?

"I think we found our quarry. Lets hope the villagers did not meet a similar fate."

"No time to waste." Baelrick points Breaker at the far door, and stomps his way on over.

Daglin follows his companions, not without giving a quick, disgusted look at the pool.

As you exit, you notice that on the back of the door you just used are written the same warnings and runes inscribed on the pit's other door.
Climbing some stairs, you find yourself at another junction. In front of you, stairs seems to lead down again, in what looks to be natural caverns this time. The sound of running and cascading water can be heard coming from that direction.
To the left and right of you is a small corridor with alcoves, each containing a demolished and defaced statue, and each ending with a closed door.

Tyr listens at the left door.

Something occurs to Baelrick. While his experience was with dusty benches and lusty wenches, he decided to try a different approach than his companions. He takes the slip of cloth and brings it to the hounds. He lets each sniff in turn, then urges them (in the wrong language) to find that scent.

Tyr and Daglin listen to doors, and it all seems silent on the other side, though it's hard to say for certain with that running water and those darn dogs...

Speaking of which, they seem more interested in playing with Baelrick right now than sniffing his piece of cloth. Which makes Gragor ask. "What you try do with hounds?"
Nov 21, 2022 10:53 pm
Baelrick scowls at the playful (and murderous) pups as they fail to follow his command. "I want them to scent out the person who wore this cloth. Find them," he adds. Hopefully the orc can understand this.

Gragor nods and grunts, then speaks a very guttural word which gets the dogs' attention. They sniff the piece of cloth Baelrick is holding and then start sniffing around the room... Two dogs pretty quickly make their way back towards the door of the pit you came from. The third dog sniffs around for a bit longer and makes his way towards Tyr.

A white pallor comes over Baelrick's face as he realizes what had happened to the captives. The pool. The liquid. That was how she had gained power. Unable to look in that direction long, he calls the hounds back to him and heads to the door Tyr was waiting by.
Nov 22, 2022 3:17 pm
"Where to now?" grumbles the dwarf, having been unable to find any clue on what was behind the door.
Nov 22, 2022 3:24 pm
"Through here," says Baelrick as Breaker beats down the left door.

You arrive at what looks to be a large meeting hall, or perhaps a dining room (or maybe both). A large rudimentary table has been build here, but it seems to have recently been splintered in two. You're not quite sure what happened here...

There is a door against the north wall, and one against the south wall.

Daglin approaches the table and tries to identify what split it into two pieces.
