With nothing further to contribute Tyr searches for edible good among the larder avoiding the dubious meat on the rack.

Baelrick finds a secret door behind one of the tapestries. Opening it, it leads him to a natural cave with water running from east to west, where it falls in a waterfall into a larger looking cave. There also seems to be a passage which might allow one to crawl down in to reach this larger grotto. On both shores, Baelrick can see glowing runes etched into the stone floor, delineating a sort of circle on the ground.

As previously stated, Tyr will find some fresh animal kills, a variety of edible mushrooms, and a large bag of roots and leafs used for seasoning.

Daglin enters the room, then the he passes the door when Baelrick discovers it. "Now that was unexpected!" he exclaims, starting to study the cave and the runes.

Baelrick enters the cavern alongside the dwarf. Hrmm... "I know not what to make of this. Let me examine the runes, if you can try to see where the water might lead."
OOC:
Magical runes, yeah? Hopefully Sorcery Casting can give me some information.

An 8 is enough for any of my knowledge skills, if that's what it should be instead.

Sorry, I managed to completely misjudge when I last posted here!
Peli is distraught by the sights of goblin kitchens, mostly due to their lack of any baked goods, spices or at least any fare which doesn't look like it's going to be hard on one's stomach - all the moldy bread and rotten meats just can't be a good diet, even for a goblin or a weird snake lady. She immediately voices her complaints to Tyr, who seems to be looking for something edible nearby with not much success, and completely misses his offer of the magical torch due to her distraction.

"How did they live on this alone? It's not even enough for one healthy breakfast, let alone a proper three meals a day." She wanders around looking into the pots and pans - or what passes for pots and pans here - and scrunching her nose at the goods in different states of spoilage. "I should at least convince Gragor to stay for snacks, make something tasty for him if this is the stuff they were feeding him. If they fed him at all..."

She then jumps as the sound of something shattering comes from the direction Baelrick and the others went in. "What was that? Hey, is everyone alright?!" She calls to the others, then comments to Tyr: "I don't think I'd be good in another battle if there are more. My arm hurts more than that day my second cousin dared me to stick it into a beehive... Oh wait, you healed your wounds, right? Can you heal my arm too?"
OOC:
I would take the torch if offered retroactively, I'm at 3 HP. XD

Daglin raises his eyebrows seeing Baelrick starting to study the runes. "That is not for me, for sure!" he exclaims before looking at the water stream.

Daglin will be able to see a bit farther into the grotto at the bottom of the waterfall. It seems to be much bigger than he can see, but at least he can determine that it connects to those stairs the party discovered earlier, so exploring it should be easy.

As for Baelrick, he'll determine that the runes are for healing, keyed to the occupant. Had you met Miriht here instead of the chapel, she would have probable healed some of her wounds during the fight. The runes don't seem that strong, so the healing probably wouldn't have been significant, but still something which would have made the fight more difficult... especially if you have to crawl through the small passage to the wast to get in here.

This is when you both hear Peli scream. It's hard to know what she wants as she's far away, but it doesn't sound like she's in trouble. There is no urgency in her voice... Perhaps she found something.

"Runes of healing," Baelrick mutters to himself. "It may be that only Miriht may use this pool, but I see no adverse magicks here." With this, the large man takes off his boots and steps into the water surrounded by the runes, hoping that he doesn't have to submerge himself entirely.

Daglin goes back through the secret door, half to see what Peli is about, half to check what he can see of the grotto from the unexplored stairs.

Daglin notices that the grotto seems to be more of a cove, complete with a small boat which looks to be in surprisingly good condition given the cave's occupants. You wonder how far this underground waterway could go...

Meanwhile, Tyr and Peli have yet to receive any replies form the rest of the party...

Nope.

Without anyone around to see, Baelrick kicks at the water in disappointment, then heads back towards the room with all of the documents. He would see Peli soon enough, and might as well save himself the trip.
Jan 11, 2023 3:12 pm
Daglin goes back to Peli and says: "The noise was from a Baelrick smashing a cursed crystal statue. It obviously broke the curse. It seems that there is a water stream flowing north of these parts, and people were probably travelling on it with boats. Maybe Gragor knows about it." After a short pause, he adds: "We could explore further the water stream, but maybe it's best if we go back to town to rest and plan our next move. I don't think we will learn much lingering in these treacherous tunnels!"
Jan 11, 2023 6:08 pm
Baelrick makes his way back towards Gragor who seems to have dropped the pile of paper he picked up onto the floor in favor of exploring a secret room he found...

"Oh, Bah-el-rik, Gragor found secret door while gathering paper. Gragor search bunk beds, but found nothing except cooking pot and food..."

Edit: Oh, I've just found what I've written about goblinoids in the Lore thread. This might help the party figure out where Gragor might andmight not be allowed to follow the party should he stick with you...

Stepping into the room, Baelrick begins re-searching everything Gragor had already checked. There was something about this lair that he did not understand. Had Miriht pushed out the original owners? "Gragor, who lived in these caves before you all?"
Jan 12, 2023 3:50 pm
"When tribe found cave, only Miriht was here. Gragor not know who used the caves before Miriht. But since there is statue of Miriht in corridor, Gragor thinks caves have always been Miriht's..."
Jan 12, 2023 7:07 pm
"Perhaps these papers will shed light on the matter, should I be able to translate them," Baelrick says disappointedly. He gathers armfuls of documents and books, and begins returning to Peli.
Jan 18, 2023 10:03 pm
"Cursed crystal statue? Well, this sounds more interesting than these crimes against culinary arts we found right here!" Peli sets the pan she's been examining back onto the counter and turns towards Daglin, bouncing on her heels a little in excitement. "Can you imagine, not a single speck of salt! Folks can't live without salt! Surely even goblins can't..." She muses, then waves around: "Anyway, I don't think there is anything suspicious in the kitchen, and I bet Fitch is done with his appraising by now! We can definitely go back now."

She then perks up further as Baelrick appears in the doorframe, enthusiastically waving at the man even though he's like a few feets away. "Baelrick! Daglin said that you destroyed a cursed statue. Was it a scary one? Is your Breaker now a Curse-Breaker? We've been talking about what to do next, and I think we should go check on Fitch and the wagon." She leans a bit to look at Gragor behind the human. "And I know you said Gragor can't come into the town, but he can still come to the wagon, right? I can give you some tasty snacks, Gragor!"
