Snake's Demise.

Daglin narrows his eyes, disgusted by the foul creature.

The goblin opens the door to reveal a curved passage of worked stone which ends on another obvious (at least from this side) secret door.

Peli pets the dogs one last time and then jumps to her feet, walking straight into the secret tunnel. But once she reaches the other door, she pauses, trying to strain her hearing and figure out if there is anything going on on the other side. Surely there are guards around the prisoners? In the stories she'd heard there always was at least one.

Peli listens at the door and fails to hear anything. She can't say for certain if its because the room is deserted or if its because the secret door is simply too thick to let any noise through...

Tyr looks for a means to open the door and does so if he finds it.
Sep 8, 2022 11:40 pm
Tyr can open the door very easily. It opens up into a small torture room with a large rack on one corner and a door on its eastern wall. An orc and what looks to be its goblin helpers seems to be cleaning some blood stains on the rack when they are surprised to see the door open... They see Tyr and seem to be waiting a moment to see what he wants. What do you all do?

Tyr was clever enough to realize they thought he was a Wildling ally and used that to his advantage. "Get back to work! I've important guests for Her!" He strode inside the torture chamber confidently but tightened his grip on his slingstaff.

Oh, a critical success. Nice! Althought, it would have been an Influence check though, but you seem to have an even better score in that...
The orc simply grunts in acknowledgment then returns to cleaning up the rack as best he can, even slapping a goblin up the back of the head, who was gawking at Tyr for a bit too long, in order to get it back to work.

Looks like the coast's clear.

Peli, who has been pretty close to the door when Tyr opened it, immediately tries to follow up on the idea and put up a front of what she imagines an ally of goblins and orcs would look like. In her case, it mostly translated into making a grimace as if something she ate disagrees with her, and then strolling in as if she owns the place.

Peli also hastily hides away the spear, just in case the orc can recognize it as the weapon of their goblin ally. Though she is uncertain if it matters - she looks at Tyr, awaiting to see if he plans to pass by or to perform a sneak attack on the unsuspecting opponents; Peli is ready to follow either course of actions, her scimitar sharp and ready.

After witnessing the exchange, Daglin makes sure not to emit any sound. In his mind, he doesn't stop to wonder how orcs and goblins can be so stupid, though.
Sep 10, 2022 4:39 pm
Tyr gives a subtle nod to his companions and when the creatures are distracted draws a finger across his throat indicating they should kill them with the surprise.
Sep 10, 2022 7:09 pm
Both Baelrick and Thallan stand back, as Tyr and Peli seem to handle the situation. The larger man's mind wanders to the breakfast the Halfling had prepared this morning, and how twisted her face was at the moment. How long until he experienced the same discomfort?!

The Tyr makes his plan known. It was a strategy as old as time. Kill them all.

Surprise round of combat.

Combat Order (DEX+INT)/2
Baelrick: 16
Tyr: 15
Peli: 14
Goblin: 14 (surprised)
Orc: 13 (surprised)
Thallan: 13
Daglin: 12
Guard Dogs: 9

Combat Map I assume that at least Tyr and Peli have made it inside the room, though you can still place yourselves pretty much wherever you want. Tyr and Baelrick have a light source each, allowing you to see deeper into the cave and alleviating some darkness penalties (p.31 and p.56)

Once you've placed yourselves, you can pretty much act in any order you want, it doesn't really matter since it will be a surprise attack...

Given the surprise round, Baelrick is going to wait until after Tyr goes. After all, he's leading the surprise slaughter.

This will hit the orc since he's surprised and not dodging, and cause a Major Wound. Since it cannot hope to succeed at a Resilience -50% check, he'll fall unconscious and most likely die soon... Tyr's hit will have broken the orc's left leg, which means that if he hadn't already fell unconscious, he would have become pretty much useless in this fight...

I'm on mobile, so I can't place the token right now - just get it somewhere next to Tyr, please.
Peli lets out an excited war cry and jumps forward right after Daglin, striking with her scimitar at the closest goblin as they try to recover after almost being smashed by a massive hammer. "For the peoples of Alhereth!" She yells at the opponents as her blade swings through the air.
OOC:
Also, Thallan probably should stay out of this and watch the captured goblin?
