Snake's Demise.

The hounds seem excited that Tyr is joining in the game! They yip and nip at the man as well as Baelrick now!

Thallan pushes forward through the mess of dogs to reach the doorway, sending an arrow at the first target he sees. The arrow flies straight at one of the beastlings that stands to the right of the room, slamming hard into its chest.
OOC:
That's a crit-hit for 10 damage! Adding the damage roll in case the creature succeeds at its dodge.

Before that attack though, since Mirith and the beastlings are Fearsome creatures, Thallan must make a Persistence check. Being an elf, and those creatures being Fearsome Creature I, Thallan has a +25% on that check.

Thallan is now shaken and will suffer a -25% on all his check for 20-his POW in rounds (so 7 rounds by the looks of it...). Not that this will change the critical hit. The beastling will take its reaction and attempt to score a critical success on a dodge to turn this into a regular hit... and sadly for that beastling, this is not a critical success, so it will suffer a major wound. It also cannot hope to succeed at a Resilience -50% so it will fall unconscious and most likely die soon...The remaining beastling is up next, he will move to attempt to hit Thallan with a wicked-looking battle-axe. The attack misses.

Daglin is up next!

Oh yeah, I thought it would have been obvious with Thallan's last post, but I forgot to tell you that now that you can see the beastling and/or Miriht, you should make a Persistence check before your action because of their Fearsome Creature traits. Sorry about that.
Yeah, I'll need a Persistence check from Daglin first. This will determine whether this attack hits or misses...

Sadly, again Daglin could not keep his cool at the sight of the terrible beastmen and woman, loosing a bit of resolve (Daglin will thus take -25% penalty to all his checks for 20 - his PIW in rounds, so 6 rounds by the looks of it). This means this successful attack was actually a miss as the -25% would apply to it...

Now it is Miriht's turns. She will slither forward, trying to fit as much as herself in front of the doorway as she can, and will make her first attack aganst Thallan (who's so far is the only one who hit and downed one of her men). Her additional attacks will come later at half her Combat Order (so 5). This first attack is a miss, so Gargor is up next.

Gargor, who seems to be unfazed by Miriht's appearance, turns to Baelrick. "Big man, good idea to use hounds. Maybe if we live, Gargor teaches you how to handle hounds." He then gives a guttural order and the hounds pounce on Miriht (well as much as I think will ba able to fit between Daglin and Thallan, at least). Gargor then has a hoarse laugh, and Baelrick is unsure whether Gargor is laughing at him, with him, or in the face of danger... both hounds who could make it miss...

Well, now for Miriht's remaining attacks. She'll still target Thallan. Two attacks hit (Thallan got really lucky on that damage!), so he can use his reaction to dodge one of them (I doubt he can parry with a bow...).

Thallan manages to avoid an attack (we'll assume the 4 points of damage one), so he takes only 2 points of damage which are safely absorbed by his leather armour.

Second round of combat.

Combat Order (DEX+INT)/2
Baelrick: 16
Tyr: 15
Thallan: 13
Beastlings: 12
Daglin: 12
Miriht 11
Gargor: 10

Battlemap Tyr and Baelrick have a light source each, allowing you to see deeper into the cave and alleviating some darkness penalties (p.31 and p.56)
OOC:
Do not forget those as the temple is a bit larger than what you're used to fighting in so far!
Conditions:
Thallan is shaken for 7 rounds (-25% to all checks).
Daglin is shaken for 6 rounds (-25% to all checks).
3 of the 4 hounds are shaken (-25% to all checks).

Baelrick is up! Do not forget that Persistence check!
Oct 26, 2022 4:43 pm
There was no way for Baelrick to join the fray at the moment, not with how everyone was crammed in the doorway! But where his allies seemed horrified at what they were seeing, the sorcerer was made of sterner stuff. "To the hall! Away from the door!"
OOC:
Baelrick will hold his turn and hope his allies listen.

"Thats a Kraid!" Tyr gasps upon seeing the monstrous creature and feels fear grip him for the first time in a long time. Like ice in his veins it pulls him from his euphoria and makes his aimed shot the more difficult. He looses the stone in his slingstaff and falls back to a more suitable vantage.

Well, Tyr is shaken for 20 - his POW in rounds (so for 5 rounds), which imposes a -25% penalty on all checks during that time. Which means that this ranged attack actually missed.
OOC:
Eesh... almost everyone is shaken now. That's going to be a tough fight... I guess you can always try to turtle up until those 7 to 5 rounds are up...
Thallan is up next!
Oct 26, 2022 7:48 pm
Thallan begins backing away from the melee, knowing that his bow- his greatest ally in this fight- was near to worthless within spitting distance. Another arrow is drawn and loosed at the second beastling, as the terrified elf prays that he lands a shot. Though his eye is sharp, it is the shaking in his hands that causes the arrow to shoot wide and miss.

Geez, I almost forgot about Fate Points.

Okay, well, the Persistence check is a success then, which means Tyr's attack roll was a success. Was it aimed at the beastling or Miriht?

Miriht will take her reaction to dodge that stone. And she does dodge it.

With Thallan having retreated, the beastman will target the one hound which is not shaken right now as it might be the most threatening for right now... but it misses...
