OOC:
That would be one of the remaining goblins as the wildman has been killed by Thallan...
The goblin will take its reaction and attempt to dodge the attack... and it'll succeed...

Speaking of which, it is the goblins' turn. They'll open up the door and dive into the room as two more goblins, females by the look of it, come out holding two spears each. They spot Thallan who's the closest and both attempt to throw one of their spears at him. Both miss.

Next comes two orc, once again, females by the looks of things. And now that you see orcs in combat, they are Fearsome I creatures (they are pretty scary when they get to actually fight...). You now all have a Persistence check to make (Thallan is at +25%) to avoid penalties in combat (Gragor and the hounds are immune for obvious reasons...). One will make her way to Tyr, the other to Thallan, and both will attempt to strike at you with their scimitar (their 2nd back attack with their shields will be done at initiative 7...). Oh, wow, both orc females manage to hit despite their low chances...

With the sudden onslaught of orcs, Thallan drops his bow and draws his sword. With one deadly move, he swings it free of its scabbard and slices at the throat of the nearest orc... Only to find his blade catching nothing but air.

Tyr now mortally wounded begins to cover his own retreat. Backing away slowly making sure to leave no exploitable openings. He was no good to anyone dead.

Daglin will be shaken (-25% all skill checks) for 6 rounds. Peli and Bean will also arrive at that point (and can make their Persistence checks even if they do not act this round).
OOC:
Speaking of Persistence checks, Tyr still has to make his... Baelrick too now that I think about it...
3 Wildlings will now exit the room, and seeing the orcs seems to have the party "on the run", will instead take their time to try and pump themselves up... The female wildling nearest Peli seems to have succeeded, as she's staring at the newcommer with a crazed look while frothing at the mouth...

Gragor is then up! He gives the hounds a simple throaty command and they swarm the orc attacking Tyr. He then rushes the other orc.

Only one of the dog manages to scratch the female orc, but her armor absorbs the hit.
OOC:
BTW, given the number of enemy combatants in this fight, I'll be using horde rules, which should hopefully help you a bit...

"Reinforcements have arrived!" With a boisterous yell of excitement, Peli skids into the dining room from behind a corner, barely managing to keep her balance as she brandishes her blade in a preemptive threat to whatever is trying to munch on her allies. Bean is at her heel, barking in enthusiastic support, and both of them seem overly eager to participate in an ongoing melee - a much more energizing activity than watching Fitch weigh chains and examine spears.

Peli will be immune to orcs' fearful abilities form now on. Bean will be shaken (-25% to all skill checks) for 10 rounds.

Second round of combat.

Combat Order (DEX+INT)/2
Baelrick: 16
Tyr: 15
Goblin: 14
Peli: 14
Orc: 13
Thallan: 13
Daglin: 12
Wildling: 12
Gargor: 10

Battlemap Tyr and Baelrick have a light source each, allowing you to see deeper into the cave and alleviating some darkness penalties (p.31 and p.56)

Conditions:
Bean is shaken (-25% to all skill checks) for 10 rounds.
Baelrick is shaken (-25% to all skill checks) for 7 rounds.
Daglin is shaken (-25% to all skill checks) for 6 rounds. (undone by Tyr's critical success).
The female wildling nearest to Peli is currently under the effect of berserker rage (auto-success Resilience checks, double % of close combat skill, cannot parry/dodge or cast spells) for 10 mins. or until end of combat.

Taking a moment to breathe in and out a time or two to summon up some courage, Baelrick charges into the room and finds himself beside Gragor- who was turning into quite the useful ally. Breaker finds itself hoisted above the sorcerer's head, and brought down in the direction of the female orc before them! It is a mighty blow, one sure to crack a skull and bring about death should the target not move aside in time.
OOC:
-25 for being Shaken, but +25 for Great Strike.

Damage is 1d8 + max damage modifier, reflected in the roll.

"You've all got this. I'll be over here, trying not to bleed to death." Tyr finds a bit of cover in the doorway and uses his action to aim.

The orc will attempt to dodge... She will succeed, but since I'm using the horde rules, this means she gets no attack this round.

With Tyr having fallen back to a more... erm... tactically advantageous position, the goblins are now up! The two already in the room with you will advance, one attempting to skewer Baelrick with her spear, and the other trying to kill Bean (and once again, according to horde rules, they will be unable to take reactions to defend this round). The other two goblins bring spears and come out of the room, moving into position to throw spears next round...

"Oof," grunts Baelrick as the goblin's spearhead slams into his leather tunic and is blunted away. The force still drove the breath from the large man.
Dec 9, 2022 8:53 pm
Thankfully Bean's small size proves as much of an asset in fighting as it does in hunting, and the second goblin completely fails to strike the tiny canine weaving between their legs. Instead it only succeeds in enraging Peli, who withdraws her scimitar and jumps in to retaliate and protect her companion, slashing at the goblin in a big swing of her blade while Bean attempts to bite their ankles.
OOC:
Both are attacking the goblin who tried to attack Bean.
