Not inspired by any of it, Daglin leaves what he found where it is, and follows Baelrick from a distance.

As Baelrick didn't acknowledge the light Tyr moved to Daglin and offered him the light.

As Tyr makes his best impression of an episode of Seinfeld ("NO HEALING LIGHT FOR YOU! NEXT!"), Baelrick makes his way towards the door on the other side of the broken statues room (the one with the stairs leading somewhere where you hear more running water). Suddenly, Gragor's arm shots out and he grabs Baelrick's wrist. Baelirick turns, expecting to see treachery from their orc companion, but he's surprised to see fear in Gragor's feature.

"No! Bah-el-rick, careful! This is dead room! All who go in die..."
Jan 5, 2023 11:41 pm
Baelrick interrogates Gragor with his eyes, casting a keen gaze over the orc. "What do you mean dead room? What in there causes death? Was this Miriht's chamber? Or something worse?"
Jan 5, 2023 11:45 pm
"Gragor not really know. There is clear statue and pretty pictures hanging from walls. All who ender just drop dead. Miriht sometimes entered room, but I think her lair is beyond it. But this room still looked important to Miriht. Maybe foul magic protection. But Gragor not know much of magic..."
Jan 5, 2023 11:52 pm
"Few are as hardy as I, nor as powerful. And twas I who smote down Miriht. I have nothing to worry from this passage, nor what lies beyond. Stay here if you must. But what waits beyond, I shall see it for myself." And with a dauntless stride, Baelrick steps forward, ever forward.

Baelrick opens the door and sees a really nice room with a crude crystal statue in the middle in the vague shape of a humanoid. Tapestries are hung from the walls, and the smell of death permeates the room, coming form the bodies of a wildling, an orc, and 3 goblins laying near the entrance of the room. He then steps in...

Baelrick can make a Persistence check, and given the circumstance, I guess I'll give you a +25%.

Power and confidence stride into the room in the form of a large, rotund man with a well-worn staff. He looks to the tapestries first, and then to the statue. There is power in this room, he can almost taste it.

"How very human..." thinks Daglin to himself after seeing the exchange between Baelrick and Gragor. The dwarf stays at the entrance for now, projecting light from his new found torch inside the room. He is ready to react to anything, warned by the orc's words.

Since Daglin wasn't interested in healing Tyr offered the light to Peli.

"NO HEALING LIGHT FOR YOU! NEXT!"
Baelrick walks into the room. For a moment, there are ideas of self-harming coming to his mind, but he easily pushes them aside, still, they are still there, constantly in the back of his mind...

So what does Baelrick do?
Jan 6, 2023 3:03 pm
What a crude enchantment upon this room. To make one slay themself. Powerful, but crude.

The sorcerer walks from tapestry to tapestry, examining the contents. Calling out to Gargor, he instructs the orc to collect all the papers from Miriht's chamber and bring them to the cart. In a chest, if possible.
Jan 6, 2023 3:15 pm
Gragor nods and is quickly gone.

The tapestries seem to represent grim scenes of beastlings, felgrims, goblinoids, and wildlings worshipping demons... Walking around the dust in the room, Baelrick can feel some crunching underneath his feet and notices some old bones. Probably other much older victims reduced to bones...

Baelrick, make another Persistence check at +25%.

Persistent, this enchantment. Perhaps the death gives power to something in the room. Otherwise it would not have been given such energy.

Finding the tapestries unsatisfying, Baelrick moves to the statue for a closer examination.

Baelrick examines the statue. It is a rough crystal statue representing the vague shape of the humanoid body in a rather relaxed or neutral pose. Everything is there, but it is featureless, or rather the features are replaced by the crystal's rough chipped surface. You're not entirely sure if the statue is unfinished or if whomever sculpted it lacked the skill to make finer features on the statue, but seeing they managed to sculpt crystal without breaking it, you doubt lack of skills was the problem...

Make another Persistence check at +25%.

The enchantment grows in strength as I near the statue. Unfinished, made of fell arts. It belongs not in the mortal realm, and I wield Breaker!

With a mighty heft, Baelrick the Sorcerer raises the mighty Breaker high into the air, and then swings it into the statue of crystal, this horrid thing. This beautiful thing.

Used a Fate Point to re-roll?
With a mighty whack of breaker, you shatter the statue, just as quickly, the self-harm thoughts leave your mind, and for a moment, you swear you could hear Miriht scream in anger in your mind...
Jan 7, 2023 6:57 pm
Daglin has a movement to protect himself when the statue shatters, then looks at the room and Baelrick, incredulous. "What just happened?" he asks, dismayed.
Jan 7, 2023 8:52 pm
Baelrick turns back to the dwarf. Ha, ha, ha! "A petty enchantment, nothing more! Miriht's influence lingering after her demise. It holds sway no longer, you may safely enter."

Turning back to the room, the overconfident sorcerer pokes around at the tapestries, searching for something hiding behind.

Go ahead and make a Perception check.
