Please... She answers his challenge
Ura sets off, kicks off stalactites and stalagmites landing on the ledge next to Ieyachus. Where Ieyachus used the force to propel him, she uses it to secure her footing. She is coming in quick and Ieyachus has to take a few steps back to make room for her landing.
Well? She awaits his acknowledgement.

The tunnel that extends before you is dark. You can just make out a ledge on either side of the slow moving water. You will be in the dark should you push forward with no light source.

Ieyachus raised his dual phase Saber overhead and ignited it, the orange Barab Ore ingot blazed to life and he kept it at its absolute minimum. Using the force to focus the crystal to attenuate at close distance.

A nice gentle dim lights up the tunnel, giving everything a nice orange glow.

IEYACHUS - At the top of the tunnel you notice dozens winged creatures hanging among the stalactites. They flex their wings in agitation at being disturbed. You can feel their anger in the Force.

It's clear that were they to become fully disturbed by the pair of you they'd surely attack in panic and "self defense."
Aug 2, 2022 4:45 pm
"Great, it's a mynock nest." Ieyachus slowly pointed to the Winged creatures and lowered his lightsaber to waist height, trying to soothe the creatures while simultaneously remaining able to see. He remained calm attempting to emanate that calm as he moved deeper into the mynock cave. No change in original pace, simply focused on the stillness making sure the "mynocks" didn't have cause to panic.

It'd be clear to Ura what Ieyachus' intent is here, as he moves forward.
OOC:
If she allows the plan to play out I'll roll an opposed spirit with wild die for the creatures as a group roll!

Ura is agile and spirited, but she wasn't known for her smarts. Ieyachus seemed to have a plan and she didn't have anything better. She did however kneel down and put her sword in a defensive position, incase they get swarmed.

Stillness and calm emanate from you--you'd be able to feel each creature, in turn, in the Force.

The hanging creatures begin to move as if agitated...

(Post roll edit)...but settle back down as the apprentices make their way past them.

Pushing on, you'd ultimately come to a large cavern. A noxious mist hangs in the air giving everything a yellow tint, even in the gentle glow of your lightsabers.

Several fissures in the walls pour water into the cavern--one of the water jets is a sick brown. The water pouring in collects in a large reservoir, before feeding the river you followed. Interestingly, the reservoir does not seem natural.

There is rocky ground all around the reservoir.

What do you do?
Aug 2, 2022 9:25 pm
"I think we'd be dead if not for your focus Ura." Ieyachus thanks her and gives her a pat on the shoulder affectionately. Taking a risk he collects a sample from the reservoir and then opens his Commlink. "Master I believe we have located the source of corruption."

Ura examines the brown pouring fissure. She tries to cauterise it with the tip of her lightsaber. Something artificial is definitely leaking something toxic. If she could stop it, it would be a win.

Question: In a Reroll trait, would I also reroll the wilddie?

Yes--all dice are rerolled when you reroll from any source--including Bennies!
IEYACHUS
Your comm is not penetrating the planets soil; that or the fumes are somehow interfering.

As you take the sample from the pool, the water begins to bubble. A huge for breaks the surface of the water. A second one follows.

They let out deafening roars. One is larger than the other--all spines, tentacles, and gnashing maw. One's belly is distended and bloated looking.

They both feel alarmed, angry, and sick in the Force.

URA

The rock pops and hisses under the immense heat of your blade--water that contacts it steams away.

It'd be clear to you this is a task not up to your lightsaber; but perhaps another way...

You'd also hear the roar and splash of the creatures erupting from the pool.
The larger of the two creatures roars and charges at Ieyachus!
OOC:
We're going to play this out as a dramatic task, rather than a combat--meaning whatever you can think of to do, make a roll that's appropriate and narrate your success or failures in a follow op post or as an edit!

Task will be 3 rounds and need 7 successes!

OOC:
Drawing...

The ultimate success will look like whatever path the narrative takes via your actions, and can be declared once the last needed success is gotten.

Deck Draws

Ieyachus, Ura

Ieyachus in a moment of prescience acts on reflex and intuition. Using the force he focuses the crystal on his lightsaber sending an intense beam of bright orange light. Figuring aquatic creatures see too well in the dark he intended to blind it and persuade it to give up the attack.

OOC:
How does this work? We are 2 people, with 1 action (I assume) per turn. If we have 3 rounds, and all actions succeed, then that makes 6 succes. How are we going to reach 7???
Aug 4, 2022 3:33 pm
OOC:
Great question @runekyndig ! In Savage Worlds, Raises count as additional success, often. So an 8 on a roll is 2 successes--12 would be 3 successes. As for "...1 action (I assume) per turn..." you can technically do Multi-action (getting the mutli-action penalty) and any successes would count toward the goal--but folks usually look for Acing etc. over multi-action. The decision is def up to the roller though!

Moderate to difficult Dramatic Tasks always assume raises (at least 1 raise) will be needed to succeed.

Speaking of multi-action, @Jomsviking what does "Persuade" plus "Use the Force" mean? Where does the Use the Force come from?
Aug 4, 2022 5:33 pm
OOC:
I have always understood that changing the phase of a dual phase lightsaber required a powerful connection to the force and skilled control. Probably not related to the test at all. But dramatic effect for say a movie.
