I'm down to 2 PCs, one is at 1/5hp, the other is at 2/3hp
Brother Longfoot
Brother Longfoot sees the others assembling on the deck and address them all. "There is still more evil on this boat!" he calls out. "I saw a slime trail leading out of the Captain's quarters. It can't have been made by any goodly creature." He gestures to the door that leads to the Captain's quarters with a steady hand that holds the log.

Baldwin
"Then we will slay it!" calls out Baldwin in a clear and resounding voice. "We have defeated dragons and demons alike! What slimy monsters would dare face us?" He hoists the red-stained mallet as proof of his mighty victories this day.

Down to three here, with one unconscious and two pretty injured.
Dengus the Ditch Digger
When the last of the pig-demons fall, Dengus raises his sword to those who helped him, then quickly turns to where Belamina was struck down.

"Belamina!" he says. "Can you hear me!?"

Belamina the Fortune Teller
"..."

Dengus the Ditch Digger
Carefully sliding his sword through his belt, the laborer bends and lifts the dark-haired, unconscious woman's limp form from the deck. "Is anyone a healer?" he calls out to the others. "This woman needs help!"

Eugene the Raving Lunatic
His pockets laden with pungent mushrooms and his bird mask still firmly down over his face, Eugene, avian purveyor of fungal delights, chuckles. When he sees the bloody wounds on the woman Dengus holds in his strong arms, he tsks his tongue. "Grievous! She is surely done for without a chirurgeon!"

After a minute, everyone is assembled on the main deck of the Star of Nostro, looking about at endless waters under a red sky. There are 4 doors--2 in the rear under the poop deck, 2 in the front under the fo'c'sle--a ladder leading down to the crew's quarters, two sets of stairs leading up to the poop deck and fo'c'sle, and the main mast with a crow's nest on top. A bilge pump sits next to the main mast. Staring at the horizon, you can see the dark shape of what looks like a distant ship on the horizon.

What does everyone do?

OOC:
Question about 0-level characters and death Bleeding Out, Recovering the Body, etc.

~Seems like we've been doing the Luck check for Recovering the Body early?
~Are we doing the Bleeding Out thing where once you recover you lose a point of Stamina and gain a terrible scar?
~Per the Recovering the Body rules, when an ally shakes a 0-hp character awake, they have 1hp, are at -4 on rolls for the next hour, suffer a point of damage to Strength, Agility, or Stamina.

Seems like there's a little overlap in this rules...

OOC:
Yeah I've been doing it early since I am liable to forget in Pbp when it could be a day or two between a character going down and rolling the body. For the stat penalty and scar yes, I mentioned it a few days ago. I'm ignoring the -4 to rolls as that is too brutal for level 0s.

Merilda Hovelsworth
Taking a few moments to compose themselves and catch their breath, the four from below finally climb the ladder onto the deck above.

They look about at the carnage left behind by battle that had raged above them.

And then Merilda looks further afield, to the horizon. She cups a hand above her eyes, straining to see into the distance.

"Friend or foe?" she asks, in a commanding tone to those gathered.

"Can anyone make out their colors?"

Eugene the Raving Lunatic
Eugene starts climbing for the crow's nest as the survivors assemble. "I'll find out!" he shouts down to Hovelsworth as he goes.

Dengus the Ditch Digger
Back on deck, Dengus lays out Belamina with any other injured, so she can be treated...
OOC:

Eggo
Eggo sees the ship on the horizon, but files it away as a problem for later. For now, he crosses to some of the doors, and presses a large ear against each of them in turn.

Bryson
Bryson takes a moment to catch his breath. His mouth hangs a little when two other passengers make some big talk about chasing further creatures down and slaying them.

"This man…" pointing to Gryff "… is in no condition to continue a fight. We should wait for that ship there to rescue us. Are they the King’s colors?"

Brother Longfoot will quickly flip open the captain's log and try to gain more information, while Baldwin will return below deck to search for a blade weapon in the cargo hold.
OOC:
Are the mushrooms still there?

Bryson bristles as the two men seemingly ignore his protest.

Gryff the Elder
Gryff the Elder pulls at his sleeve, as he sits to rest.

"Leave them to it. Some men won’t listen to sense! Leave them be!"

From the crow's nest, Eugene has a slightly better view of his immediate surroundings, but it doesn't help much for things in the distance. If only he had a spyglass...

Eggo listens at the other two doors under the fo'c'sle and hears nothing but silence.

Baldwin returns to the cargo hold but doesn't find anything useful. He sees a miasma around the fungus box and thinks if he gets too close he'll probably be rendered unconscious again.

Brother Longfoot reads another entry in the captain's log: "Alkar’s stones! Mayhem during the ceremony! Tirrem had sacrificed half of the cargo with the Mael Bennique and The Gatherer had begun to take shape. All thought the sacrifice would be sufficient to please the Stony One, but His shape erupted in exploding rock! Several of the crew were injured including my steward McCann—the poor bastard lost an eye! All were brought back to the ship so Lowell could treat the wounds."

"Well, then? Speak!" the woman barks up to the crow’s nest!
Dec 17, 2022 7:34 am
Eugene the Raving Lunatic
"I can see eternity!" Eugene cries out, swooning a little in the crow's nest. Perhaps it's the height, perhaps it's the bend of the mast in the wind, perhaps it's the aromatic mushrooms he carries; whatever the cause the man is lightheaded and he laughs then. Long and hard and in disturbing fashion he laughs, looking down at Merilda.

"Eternity itself!" he screams, before adding, "but no colors on that ship!"

Brother Longfoot
"The captain's log has some disturbing details about summoning something called The Gatherer..." Brother Longhoen begins, but his attempt to read the captain's log is interrupted by the ravings of the man in the crow's nest.

But then he realizes he has the captain's spy glass. He turns to the horizon to see if he can spy its colors, and if it isn't enough he'll climb up to the crows nest to get a better vantage. He's happy to hand the book to somebody else if they wish to continue reading the log where he left off.

Baldwin
Meanwhile, Baldwin returns from below deck without additional armaments. He then hears Bryson's protests about Gryff's fighting ability.

"Able or not, the fight will come. If we stay still, we are just sheep awaiting slaughter. We must become the wolves if we want to survive! Fortune favours the BOLD!"

He delivers this speech with the drama of Mel Gibson in Braveheart, belting out the last sentence as if it were a self-evident Truth upon which to base major life decisions on.

Belamina the Fortune Teller
Belamina has come to by now, but is weak from the injuries she suffered during the escape and fight for freedom. She signals wordlessly to Brother Longfoot that she can take and book and pour through it, seeing what else she can find out.

Dengus the Ditch Digger
"The ship might have an armory," Dengus says to Baldwin and the other able-bodied fighters. "We have weapons, but no armor. There may be hauberks or the like below deck..."
OOC:
Any chance we can get a peek of the ship to see where we have and haven't been?
Dec 18, 2022 7:59 am
OOC:
Forgive me if you covered this already -- is the ship rigged for travel / sailing?
Dec 18, 2022 8:42 am
OOC:
Yeah you are mid-journey and all the sails are unfurled.
Through the spyglass, you can make out the flag of the Ibis, the symbol for Lys's navy.
