Belamina the Fortune Teller
"What's happening out there?" Belamina says nervously, worrying her thin hands.
Dengus the Ditch Digger
Dengus has a white knuckle grip on his sword as the tries to look through a crack in the barred door. "I don't know, woman! I thought you were the soothsayer!"

The next ten minutes pass stressfully. There are creaks and groans of wood and rope. Everyone's ears catch the slightest sounds and set your pulses racing. At one point there was pounding and scratching at the impromptu barricade stuffed into the hatch barring the bilge deck. Finally the Ibis ship arrives and you hear a voice calling, "Ahoy there! What has happened here?"

Merilda Hovelsworth
"We were taken captive!" Merilda calls back, being the only noble on board, she felt it her place to speak.

"Bound, and left to fend for ourselves. Some of us got free, but the crew had been killed by then. There are things in the water."

She was sure the sailors knew about the dangers, or else their navy wouldn’t last long out here.

Brother Longfoot
Longfoot has been watching the other ship arrive. He cuts the sails as the Ibisi ship approaches. After Merida answers the Ibisi's question, he calls over: "Extend a gang plank or toss us a rope! We are in grave danger! "

Baldwin
Meanwhile, Baldwin drops his torch to the deck (preferably in a pile of flammable material), and mutters "Burn in hell, you evil son of a bitch!" Then, as the flames flicker larger, he joins the others who are gathered on the deck, communicating the the Ibisi ship. He adds to voices demanding aid. "Let us board your ship, good men of Ibis!"

Belamina the Fortune Teller
As Dengus begins unbarring the door, hearing all the calls out side, Belaminda turns to the other occupant in the room. "How are you?!" she asks. "Another ship is here, we're saved! Can you walk?"
Jan 26, 2023 8:51 am
The Ibis man, dressed in a red and white nautical outfit with gold trim, nods and places a ten-foot plank between the boats. "You'll have to move quickly; your ship seems to be taking on water." Indeed, the railing height difference between the two boats is already two feet and your ship is starting to list to starboard, making the gangplank ever more unstable.
Inside the cabin, Dahut shakes her head. She looks down at her feet and can only wiggle a few stony toes. While the spell has been broken, it will still take time for the effects to wear off. Most of her skin is still stone-covered, like petrified bark. "Cut down a hammock and two of you can carry me. Please don't leave me here to die." Her eyes are wide and glistening.
OOC:
Anyone who intends to cross the plank this first round makes a Luck check, lowest rolls go first. Then there will be an escalating Agility DC for crossing after each person, starting with DC 8 and increasing by 2 each round. Only one person can cross per round. Failure means you fall off, with a DC 12 Reflex save to catch yourself. Failure on that means you are in the ocean.

Oops! 5 is Gryff, 3 is Eggo, 10 is Merilda.

All overboard, judging by their luck rolls!
OOC:
Reflex Saves for all!

Same order as above! All made it!

So they cross eventually? I’ll narrate once I know!

Yeah once everyone has rolled Luck, I'll create a sort of initiative. Then each roll will be applied as it happens. I didn't intend for all the rolls to be made at once in case the story progresses and circumstances change lol. So just be warned that some rolls might be made meaningless if you get chomped into fish food or something!

Round 1 - Eggo
Round 2 - Gryff
Round 3 - Dengus & Belamina
Round 4 - Merilda
Round 5 - Longfoot
Round 6 - Baldwin

More coming later.

Round 1
Eggo the ekrask crosses over the plank first. Almost as soon as he's across, smoke starts billowing from all hatches below deck. Dengus and Belamina hurriedly move next door to the First Mate's room and cut down his hammock.

Round 2
Gryff the Elder begins making his way when the ship lists suddenly and Gryff loses his footing. Luckily he falls in a sitting motion and only manages to crush his wrinkly grandpa balls. He painfully stands up and hobbles the rest of the way over. Dengus and Belamina lift Dahut into the hammock. The smoke continues to billow.

Round 3
Merilda is about to cross when she hears Dengus and Belamina crying "Make way!" and they emerge with Dahut being carried in a hammock between them. She lets them begin to cross. The wood under the main deck starts to feel uncomfortably warm.
OOC:
Ok, Dengus and Belamina need to make a DC 12 Agility to cross, DC 12 Reflex to catch yourself if you fail.

And then, there is much screaming as Dengus stumbles and he and Belamina almost plunge down into the water below, along with their precious cargo. Bela manages to keep her feet, but Dengus falls off the planks... and is only saved as his old wool cloak catches on some rough splinters!
OOC:
Whelp, good game! Edit: Check that, Nezz reminded me I have luck! Dengus burns 8 luck to succeed!

Edit -- and Bela burns 4 to succeed at her Agility check. So editing above.

OOC:
Bela has 7 Luck and only needs to burn 4 to succeed on the first Agility check and then the Reflex save would be unnecessary.

Right you are! Alright, she'll burn four luck and make that first agility roll. I presume this means she's fine, but Dengus falls and catches himself. What happens to Dahut?

OOC:
Luck check for Dahut.
Dahut's deity was watching over her as Dengus slipped she was lucky enough to be directly over the planks and fell straight down, landing straight on her back, perfectly balanced. After Dengus recovers, he and Belamina finish crossing with Dahut in tow.

Merilda likewise makes her way across but another section splintered under her feet. She does a graceful pirouette to keep her balance. She finishes crossing and lands lightly on the other ship.

(1) = 1
