Baldwin

Baldwin
Baldwin grips his mallet tight in his fists and raises it out of the midden heap from which he has claimed it. "A weapon worthy of a great warrior!" he bellows as he charges into the fray ... but stops immediately as he sees the fair Christnar struggling with her chains. He overhears her impassioned speech:
Quote:
CHRISTNAR, THE ANARCHIST

"If I die, I will die fighting for the cause of the people. You can kill me, but ideas cannot die."
He approaches her and offers a strong arm to help her stand. "Your wisdom is only rivalled by your beauty! Come with me if you want to live!"

If she accepts, he will act as her guard. If her chains still need breaking, he will attempt that. Otherwise, he will guide her to the stairs and fend off attacks from dragons with his mind full of delusions of knights in shining armour and such.
OOC:
Baldwin has an Int of 5 btw! :D

Will update this post soon with my other character's actions!

Merilda Hovelsworth
Eyes scanning the dark space for any sign of attack, Merilda’s patience with the ladder begins to wane. She shunts the small lizardfolk with her toe, to get his attention.

"We go next!" she says coldly.

Eggo
The runt nods his head, understanding, before turning his eyes back to his watch. He had made the same calculation as the noble. One scaly hand grasps the first rung of the ladder, laying their claim to next ascent.
Nov 27, 2022 12:19 pm
KCC, Merilda and Eggo are at the base of the ladder waiting for Dengus and Eugene to finish climbing and make room. Bryson and Gryff the Elder are also near the ladder being brave defenders as the others climb to safety.

Len, Sandra makes it on to the deck with Brother Longfoot, Joseph and Belamina. Christnar has broken her chains and is free to follow Baldwin if she so wishes. Brother Longfoot and Joseph each take a door.
[ +- ] Brother Longfoot
[ +- ] Joseph

Harrigan, Dengus begins climbing the ladder with Cerdan right below him. and Eugene, who is now wearing a bird-shaped leather helmet over his head, spent time sifting through the mushroom box and putting on his new helmet, is last in line.
nezzeraj sent a note to Harrigan
ogion, Elix makes at attack at one of the creatures but it deftly avoids the blow. Christnar makes her way to the ladder pleading for peace and order to facilitate easier egress from the cargo hold. Gerdich staggers towards the ladder. Cerdan, lithe and graceful, climbs up the ladder at impressive speed.
OOC:
Ok updated this post. For Cerdan's nat 20, next round 3 people will be able to get to the ladder. Everyone waiting to get to the ladder please make either an Agility roll or Strength roll, your choice, for securing a spot on the ladder. This counts as your action so you won't be able to attack if you're busy trying to get on the ladder.
Nov 27, 2022 4:19 pm
Brother Longfoot
Joseph
After helping a few folks up the ladder, Longfoot and Joseph frantically begin searching for some kind of defensive advantage or hiding place. They exchange glances, recognizing some kindred spirit in each other. Wasting no time, they agree to work together, and invite the others to do the same. They move to try the doors under the poop deck, Longfoot taking the right and Joseph taking the left.

Sandra
Sandra, bewildered and nauseated, can't really process all this horrific violence and gore. In a dream-like state, she will climb up to the fo'c'sle and look for a captain or somebody in authority.

Gerdich
GERDICH, THE DIGGER

Now free of his chains, Gerdich staggers closer to the stairs, muttering unintelligible things.

---

Christnar
CHRISTNAR, THE ANARCHIST

Picks up the chains that had her tied up.

"I will keep these chains, as a symbol of the defeat of the oppressive Nobility."

She turns to the ladder, where people are fighting and raises both hands.

"Brothers, let us not fight among ourselves. The nobility and the bourgeoisie are our enemies."

---

Cerdan
CERDAN, THE DANCER

"Get out of the way!" she exclaimed at the top of her voice. "What kind of gentlemen are you? Ladies must go up first."

She takes a few steps back and tries to jump over the heads of the people in front of her.

---

Elix
ELIX, THE HALF DEMON EXILE

Swings the chains over his head and turns his back to the ladder, facing the monsters.

"You go ahead. I’ll buy you some time."

Eugene the Raving Lunatic
Belamina is approaching the top of the ladder and is about to climb out of the hold as Dengus starts ascending, and as Eugene waits in the who's next scuffle at the bottom of the ladder.

"Be careful, you brazen strumpet!" the madman says to the dancer as she tries anything and everything to get ahead. "You'll damage my mask! It's new, and extremely important!"

OOC:
Updated my last big post so please check it again as some things have changed. I'll take the enemy turns now. Need one roll for Sandra from @Len that I added to my previous post. There are 5 creatures left, but one is busy feasting on Crox.
The creatures begin circling around the ladder, sticking to the shadows and darting out whenever they spy an opening. Three of the creatures score hits, a large wound to Baldwin but he manages to fight the creature off enough to prevent himself from becoming a meal, A large gash to Eugene's back, and Elix getting dragged to the ground and pulled into the darkness.

4 damage to Baldwin, 2 to Elix, and 3 to Eugene. Elix is down to 0 hp, but if anyone can get to him in the next round you can make a roll the body Luck check to see if he survives.

Bryson
Bryson stumbles forward, having landed a blow on the creature. He grabs Gryff by the arm, and tries to lead him to the ladder!

As one of the creatures snarls closer, he sends out a furious whipping of the chain to score its flesh again!

Gryff the Elder
"I told you to go, lad!" Gryff the Elder snarls, as he wrenches his arm free. He looks back over his shoulder to see the ladder become a melee between the survivors.

"Bugger it. Nothing for it now!" he says, driving a chained fist into the same beast as the baker.

Merilda Hovelsworth

Merilda Hovelsworth
Merilda stands at the foot of the ladder, jostled about by the bodies around her. Her mind reached for two things. One, to slash all about her, and remind this dirty rabble that they ought not touch a person of her standing.

And second, the lessons she had been taught growing up. How the unwashed masses were panicky creatures, barely able to fend for themselves. That was the role of the Hovelsworth family, after all. To tend to the simple flock…

She pushes the nearest one off of her, and looks down at the lizard creature.

"Up." she says, commanding. And then she steps away from the ladder, and raises her sword to slash at a creature.

Eggo
Eggo nods it’s head, seemingly understanding the simple command. He cocks his head as he watches the noble woman head away from the ladder and attack a creature.

Ignoring the command, or maybe not understanding it in the first place, he bounds after her. Light, agile, and determined, he pounces into the dark after the woman.

Gerdich
"Here demon, take my hand."

Surprisingly, Gerdich The Digger, tries to grab Elix by its jaquet, to drag him away from the monsters.

"I save you and you grant me a wish, demon. Do we have a deal?"
OOC:
Don't know if Gerdich should roll Str or Ag, Rolled Str.

Gerdich Strength - Check (dragging Elix) - (1d20+3)

(18) + 3 = 21

OOC:
Ok that will work. Usually you need a Luck check for the killed character to see if they miraculously survived. You want to roll under. But you rolled so well I don't wanna invalidate that this time. Elix is rescued but at 1hp.

Belamina the Fortune Teller
Up on deck, Belamina frowns at the chaotic scene that greets her. Livestock everywhere, bodies, no one manning the sails, crow’s nest, or helm!

"What has happened here?" the woman exclaims, even as she stoops to retrieve one of the long, steel blades. "Where is the crew? Why are all these animals free?!"

Eugene the Raving Lunatic
Below, the masked lunatic fights for position after he’s badly injured by one of the lizard-things. Eugene is much stronger than he looks, and he has no intention of dying in this miserable hold.

"Ah! Back! Get away! It is my turn next!"

Dengus the Ditch Digger
Above, on the ladder, Dengus calls back down, scolding the madman and any others preventing members of the gentler sex from ascending. "Let the women come next, you bastards! he cries, feeling guilty for not waiting himself.

Brother Longfoot
Brother Longfoot looks about the opulent and spacious stateroom, and hopes the slime trail is leading OUT rather than IN. This is the kind of room I hoped to inhabit one day, once I become a member of the Order of Navigators. That goal seemed to be sailing away over the horizon, but he reminded himself that the world was full of danger, and if he were to succeed on this path, he would need to overcome this and many more challenges. If he balked now and the danger, he might as well never have dedicated his life to the study of navigation! With new resolve, he will head over to the writing desk and look for any information about the voyage or cargo that might be useful, being none to gentle with the desk if locks bar his way. He carefully avoids the slime at all costs, and keeps an eye on that mermaid rope thing.

Baldwin
Baldwin can't believe he's been actually cut! So, he chooses not to, which is a privilege granted to idiots all around the world. The ability to deny reality wasn't the sole province of idiots, but damn they were good at it, and Baldwin was one of the best.

Lost in his imagined world of stagecraft, he hoists his hammer and prepares for a mighty blow against the dragon that wounded him!

Sandra
Sandra nopes the fuck out of interacting the walking pigs, and races back down the stairs screaming "Murder pigs! Murder pigs! Up on the top deck!" She'll head for the open door of the galley that Joseph entered.

Joseph
Meanwhile, Joseph explores the galley with an eye for survival. He grab the most combat-effective looking kitchen knife, and then gets an idea. Fire might be a useful deterrent against those creatures, so he'll load some fuel in the oven to get a good roaring blaze going, with the intent on harnessing the fire in torches or something. At worse, he'll burn this whole fucking ship down. Those demonic creatures must not be allowed to live!

Rolls

Badlwin Strength Check to attack! (attack roll, damage) - (1d20+1, 1d4+1)
