"Splooge? Hey, I ran into this crazy guy Chandling down by the river today. He said that he saw a UFO crash in the woods a few nights ago I think, during the storms, yeah. The same place, across from the Banks, that old campground, where I saw Polensky's blue jeep, and when I swam across, from it I saw some tracks of two people that went there into those same woods."

Freddie is kind of rambling but he's freaked out by all the crae crae in the air.

Zach is obviously fishing and she doesn't plan on saying anything more about it. "Meh ... he's my little brother. What's to like?" she asks, shrugging. Her interest is piqued when she hears Zach say what is that?

"What's what?" she asks as she too steps into the room, her foot just missing a pool of the gross liquid. "What the ..."

Mr. Romero's Office

In short order, the whole gaggle of kids make their way into the Principal's office. Someone noses into Romeo's office proper, the room in the back with his desk and filing cabinets and stacks of papers. A flick of the lights there shows that the room seems undisturbed -- but that a micro SD card sits on the large green blotter that dominates the chief administrator's desktop.

Back in the waiting room, Emily is looking with distaste at a puddle on the floor... a puddle of yellowish fluid that does not smell good. It's the same stuff Lily collected earlier, in t he lab, but there's more of it here.

"Right," Zach says, looking at Freddie. "So you're saying Gromn and Romanov attacked Steve and Emily because they've been replaced by aliens?" With a chuckle, he adds, "I know something weird is going on, but that seems like a stretch."

"Well… maybe it wasn’t aliens. But something could have crashes there, right? A weather balloon or a satellite." she says, letting journalistic instinct take over.

"Could be worth a trip out there to see?" said with a shrug, and then her eyes light up.

"Theres the card! You guys won’t believe this picture! It’s front page stuff!!"

She heads into the office to grab the SD card, noting that it doesn’t look like there was a struggle here.

"Aliens? Nah, that's too on the nose. Look, you gotta see this guys tent. It was covered in tinfoil and electronic gadgets. This guy was Chronic with a capital C. But that doesn't mean he didn't see something, right? Like, look at it this way. Say he saw a helicopter with crazy lights, and couldn't hear it cuz of the river noise, right? Then as the lead poisoning or whatever his problem is kicks in, he's like, 'Hey, aliens!' But, that doesn't mean that there wasn't a helicopter."

He looks at the goo on the floor, and points. "Oh! Oh! Maybe it was a blimp spraying chemtrails!"

"What year is it again? Helicopter sounds way more likely."

She creeps forward.

"But whose helicopter?"

Emily starts to retch. "What the fuck is this crap on the floor? I'm going to barf." Holding her stomach she backs away from the goo. "Aliens? You guys are being ridiculous," she says once the nausea spell passes. "It's more likely they took some drugs that were tainted with some weird-ass hallucinogen. I think Freddie is close but I don't buy the blimp theory. The things are huge and obvious. It would have been seen and heard."

"At any rate, we should probably let someone know that Romero isn't here," Zach says, stepping back out of the room. "And that there's something weird in here. Anyone want to talk to Mr. Kilvert?" Zach did not seem very eager to involve the strict vice principal. "Alternatively, maybe we just find a teacher somewhere around."

"Um… Sorry, Mr Kilvert. We were supposed to get detention from the Principal because we got into a fist fight with two teachers. But he’s not there. Oh, and we found some… alien jizz on the ground." Lily acts out the prospective conversation. Her tone is dripping with yeah… I’m not doing that-ness.

Then she slots the SD card into her camera, and checks that the photos are still there!

"I say we get out of here. If he wants us that bad, he’ll get us tomorrow, right?"

Zach hesitates for a moment. He's a pretty rule-abiding guy, so just slinking off after they were summoned here doesn't feel right to him. "I guess if he's not here, that's reasonable," he eventually concedes. "We'll just come back tomorrow and see if he's in then. He can't really blame us for not waiting around all day." He looks at Aaron for his opinion, since he seems like even less of a rule-breaker than Zach himself.

"Here, Lily, let me take your picture in front of the empty office, then you can prove you all were here." He pulls out his phone and gathers the gang of miscreants and troublemakers, angling to get a clock and the empty office in the background.

"Say, 'Romero's butt smells like cheese!."

"Talk to an adult in this school. Hell no." Emily turns to go when she sees Freddie wanting to take a picture. Her heart pounds at the thought especially given what recently happened with the goons.

"I look like crap in photos so count me out." She makes sure she is well away from that nonsense.

Seeing Emily refuse the photo gives Zach an out as well. "Me too," he quickly adds, stepping away as well. He hates photos of himself. They always give him too much opportunity to overanalyze. My cheeks look so feminine here. No guy would have a chin like that. He makes a face and follows Emily out of frame.

"Kind of defeats the purpose, guys!" she says, standing between Wendy and Aaron. She throws a hand over each of their shoulders, and pulls them in close!

"Looks like it’s just us three!" she says, getting ready.

"BUTT CHEEEESE!"

After taking the shot proving (at least some of) the students had come to the office on time, Freddie says, "Do you all want to come to my place for board game night? We've missed a could days and I'm jonsing to get just wrecked by Lily's Machiavellian maneuvers. I'll spring for take out if Belinda hasn't cooked anything big enough for all of us." Belinda didn't really "cook" per se, so he was already thinking of places that deliver.

"I'm pretty sure my dad is expecting me right home," Zach frowns. "The only reason he's not already in the parking lot, sending me angry messages about where I am is that I wrote him that I have an appointment with Romero after school. But technically, I'm still grounded." He then thought about it for a moment longer. "I guess if he drove me to your place and picked me up again, that might be safe enough for him." The others may have already heard complaints from Zach about his overprotective parents now and then, but for emphasis, he gestures towards his bruises. "But it definitely sounds like fun." His eyes wandered over to Aaron, silently trying to ask both him if he'd like to come and the others if it would be okay if he came, without daring to ask either question out loud.

"Im game," Emily says, not realizing she had punned. "A diversion from all this craziness might do us some good actually. What were we playing again? " Emily decides that she will have to cool it with the weed. It was affecting her memory. But hadn't she decided that before?

Emily's parents are a pain in her ass but she wouldn't trade them for Zach's dad any day. Emily again notices something passing between Zach and Aaron and feels like doing a good deed. "Hey, Aaron. Want to come too?" If it turned out that she didn't go to the prom with Zach it was fine.
