"Whose dice are these? I need new dice!! Has anyone even blown on these for good luck? Honestly!"
Mar 27, 2023 1:23 pm
"A what 20? A D? A dice." Oh. Emily shakes the single d20 in her palm and lets it drop in front of her. "I'm stabbing that sarcophagus. Stab, stab," she says will mimicking a dagger-stabbing action.

Rolls

Dice roll - (d20+5, RA)

(16) + 5 = 21

Emily Richardsen: Notice * - (1d8-2, 1d6-2, RA)

"Good shot, Emily. Your weapon chips a chink out of the sarcophagus. Aarongorn's arrow however, sails overhead and if there was a window it would go out the window and hit a pigeon or something, but you're underground so it just richochets off a pillar and clatters to the ground."

Rolls

Fred Solomon: Notice * - (1d4, 1d6, RA)

1d4 : (1) = 1

1d6 : (3) = 3

Rubbing her hands together with an almost genuine feeling of glee, Emily squeaks. "I got it! Oh but it's not dead. Come on you guys. Let's kill that thing."

Emily liked the way Freddie was controlling things. She thought about their kiss down by the river. Maybe he wasn't so bad.

"Yoooooou. Shall not. Paaaaass!" Lily drones deeply, as she spreads her arms wide, wizard-like!

She clutches up some dice, and presents them to Wendy. Still channeling Gandalf, she croaks:

"Blow! Make haste!"

Wendy rolls her eyes, and jostles Lily with her elbow before blowing on the dice.

"Fly, you fools!" she commands the dice, as they clatter down the table!

Everyone is smiling and having a great time as Fred runs the game — there’s no doubt about it… Pathfinder is a hit!

Lily is a hoot to see in action. "You should take acting classes, Lilly, you're really good at this stuff."

The game was way more fun than she had anticipated so she decided to really get into character. How hard could it be? Wasn't she a little roguish in real life? The thought made her chuckle and while she was thinking of what voice to use she saw some movement outside on the other side of the basement door window. A wicked smile spread across her face as she turned her attention back to the game.

Zach laughs at Lily's and Wendy's antics and is starting to feel a bit bad about how he himself doesn't get as wildly into character. He does have the thought of actually starting to sing, but he hasn't sung outside the shower in years so he's not quite sure he's comfortable with the idea. He does lean towards Aaron and, testing the waters on his earlier idea, he gestures over to Lily and Wendy and asks, "Those two are pretty fun, right?"

"My talents are wasted in the editor’s room!" Lily remarks, putting the back of her hand to her forehead.

"Did I do it? Did I slay the wee beastie?" she says, suddenly a gruff Scottish Dwarven warrior.

"It’s thirsty work!" she says then, in her own voice. "I’m parched."

Freddie continues to lead them through the funny battle. The foe is deadly, especially as the water rises to their knees and Zach had a harder and harder time running away from it.

The scene is hilarious to Freddie, as Zach is running from the coffin in a circle assertions the room, singing his heart out, while the others throw everything they have left at the creature.

When the animated coffin collapses, the water is two feet deep, and seems to have stopped filling.

"You know this is a death trap, but it was designed 1,800 years ago. Maybe the river is lower now, or maybe something broke. Either way, you're now only soggy instead of possibly drowned."

Aaron Connery
Connery is grinning and nodding at Zach as they watch Lily and Wendy perform, and as the battle continues and finally wraps up.

"So… the water’s not still coming in, it’s not getting higher?" he asks. "What else is in here? Is there an obvious way out?" Looking at Zach, he adds, "Is Dave still singing? Does he know any songs about this place?"

Wendy Lin
Also laughing, Wendy stands up and is going to get Lily a drink from the bar when a loud crash sounds from outside — loud enough to make the teen yelp and jump, and potentially scare the pants off the rest of the group!

The sound came from the patio outside — which would be visible through the sliding glass doors that lead outside if it wasn’t so dark out there…
OOC:
Everyone make a Fear Check, please — roll Spirit! Remember to check to see if you have Edges or Hindrances that apply. If you fail, also roll a d20. Emily, you’re rolling at +2.

"No," Zach replies. "He stops singing when the fight is over. He also says, 'Hey, there was something on the floor over there, like a trapdoor,' and points to where he saw it. He saw something like that, right Freddie? Before the water flooded in. But that's a good question. Songs in those times were often old stories and stuff, right? Did Dave'ythiel ever hear anything about this-"
He's interrupted by the crashing sound outside and Wendy's reaction to it inside, which startle him for a moment.

Goin’ on up to the Spirit in the sky!!
"What was that?!" Lily says, leaving her sheet without a second thought. She crosses to Wendy, and checks she’s alright. She looks around for a cause to the sound nearby; a dropped bottle, or a knocked over plate.

"Outside?!" she asks everyone, but knowing the answer. She gets a shiver, but shakes it off, as all she can see are her and Wendy looking back at themselves, with the others arranged behind.

"Hey." she whispers, unnecessarily. "Turn off the lights for a sec!"

The crash sends Wendy under the table with a yelp, but Aaron, while he jumps a little, nods at Lily and heads for the light switch. And when the lights go off, two things are revealed as the crew in the basement can suddenly see much better outside.

The weather has turned. A light rain is falling, and an obscured, silvery moon is lighting up an overcast, light gray sky. Silhouetted against that stormy backdrop is a figure, standing right in front of the glass door. They carry a hatchet in one hand, and a garden trowel in the other, and they are wearing a raincoat with the hood up. Their head is cocked, and their face is cloaked in shadow so that only a chin is visible!
OOC:
Kind of cheating on my part to use the Fear Check / Table in this situation (for the sound), but bear with me as I continue to kick the tires on SWADE, please.

But to this scene’s specifics… Emily, please react accordingly on the result you got for your Fear Check — Minor Phobia: The character gains a Minor Phobia Hindrance somehow associated with the trauma. Everyone else, please post your immediate reaction while making *another* Fear Check and bounce a d20 if you fail. Remember Bennies and such. And then, on top of that, everyone but Emily make a Notice check, this one at -2. (If you fail, just carry on with the Fear result. If you pass, incorporate, one way or another, that it looks like there might be more than one person outside.)

Cool? Questions to Discord if you’ve got ‘em.

Rolls

Aaron Fear Check - (1d6, RA)

(5) = 5

Wendy Fear Check - (1d6, RA)

(3) = 3

Emily’s Fear Result - (1d20, RA)

(19) = 19

When the person outside becomes visible, Zach jumps up from his chair in shock. "Is that... You don't think that's Gromn, right?" he asks.

Rolls

Zachary Tidwell: Spirit - (1D6, 1D6, RA)

1D6 : (3) = 3

1D6 : (2) = 2

Zachary Tidwell: Notice - (1D6-2, 1D6-2, RA)

1D6-2 : (2) - 2 = 0

1D6-2 : (5) - 2 = 3

Too scary for me! - (1D20, RA)

(12) = 12
