Wednesday — Halfway Through First Period (Math), 905am
There was a weird vibe in the room, the school, and maybe even the whole town today. The homecoming game and dance were just around the corner — tomorrow night for the football game, Friday night for the soiree — but two people were now in the hospital, there had been police grillings, there more random people missing classes and appointments here and there, and there had been a
lot of making out… and in some cases a lot
more than making out. Eyes were bleary as Mr. Edge sat in front of the class, having told them he wasn’t going to teach today, that they could just all have a study period and do whatever homework from other classes they had.
Wendy and Lily had arrived late and barely said much to one another after having an eye-to-eye moment in the back seat of the car that stirred memories and pinkened cheeks.
Zach had been a few minutes late as well, and he’d gotten up too late for the family meeting his parents had wanted. It would have to wait until after school now, and the boy had caught quite a glare and head shake from his father in the mirror as he’d driven Zach and Rose to school. For her part, Rosie seemed like teflon, as usual. She hummed and looked out the window as she toyed with a curl of hair; Zach felt like he was going to melt into a puddle.
Emily had been on time — and in fact was the only reason why her brother had even made it to school today. After the incident in the cafeteria the day before, he just wanted to stay home and play video games. The Richardsen parents weren’t around to actually… parent (as usual), so the girl had to be the mature one. Again.
Fred was absent. In fact…
The Parking Lot
Pulling his Tesla into the school lot, fully thirty minutes late, Fred wondered if it was even worth going to Math at this stage. As he parked, a couple of things took his eye — his stepmother’s Model X was parked in visitor parking… right next to the vehicle he’d seen parked at the Unger’s yesterday.
OOC:
Little rushed, so apologies if this is a little incoherent. And that it’s late in coming. We’re back on track! Three of you are in math but free to talk and interact… Fred’s in the parking lot. And oops, I think we’ve given Belinda both a Tesla Model X and a Range Rover at various points. That tracks. Leaving it.
