Boseman High School Shenanigans: Episode 1

Removing the key she opens the door until her brother stops her."Oh hell, Steve, I don't like the sounds of this. What's up this time?"

Now, Math Class (Emily)

When Edge looks her way again she does what she intended to do if he gaped at her again. She stares back stubbornly. But she's not prepared for the scorchingly sexy look he gives her. She starts to regret catching his eye, or does she? Her cheeks grow hot and her heart feels like it's tumbling, and that smile.

OMFG he's so freakin' hot.

When he runs a hand through his hair it's almost her undoing as she sits there squeezing her thighs together, caught in his seductive gaze. Surely this was all in her head.

"Wha ... what? Stay after school. She's still under his spell. Uh-huh," she says in a low voice that's almost a whisper.

Wendy nods almost imperceptibly to Zach, and then looks to every corner of the room at once. Finally, she suddenly takes a great interest in whatever is outside the window, as her face reddens and she can’t possible meet the boys look.

Zach breaks into a huge grin. He leans a bit closer towards Wendy and then whispers loud enough for both girls to hear him, "This is so awesome! I'm so happy for you both! You know what? We should all go out together. You two, me and Aaron, I mean." He scans both girls' faces looking for their reaction to his suggestion. "Somewhere out of town where nobody will recognize us and we can just do what we want."

"The hospital?!" Ms. Maidstone says with concern, closing the distance with the boy. "Your sister? Fred, what happened?! Is she alright?"

When Fred answers, she sweatily continues, just a little out of breath. "I haven’t seen Belinda today, no, but I was in my office until class started." Thinking, she adds, "Is it possible Kelly took her dad’s car to school today?"

The inside of the van is quiet for a moment as Steve looks into his sister’s eyes and lifts an eyebrow. Then there’s the horrendous sound of the boy ripping a fart that last for several long seconds, and that peters out with a bubbling dribble that makes the boy giggle. The strench is immediate as Steve starts laughing, leaving his sister wondering why she’s fallen for this… again!

Heat builds in Emily’s cheeks as she shares the look with Mr. Edge, and he nods. "Not after school, Emily. After class. Your next teacher will understand. I’ll talk to them if need be…"

"Jesu H Christ, Steve. Do you boys ever grow up?" Emily waves her hand around her nose to swat the disgusting smell away and heads to class, kicking Steve lightly on the rear end before he gets away from her.

In class, Emily is mortified. How did she mishear Mr. Edge? Was she that infatuated that she said what she was thinking instead of actually responding to what he said? She hoped the other kids weren't paying attention.

With her cheeks on fire, and wanting to disappear into a hole in the floor, Emily replies meekly, "Sure thing, Mr. Edge." Meanwhile she imagines the kids sitting behind her staring into the back of her head, making her cheeks turn an even deeper shade of red.

The Gym

He nods. "She's recovering, it was an accident with a stick, and she got hit in the head. Luckily we Solomon's don't have much going on upstairs!" He feigns humour, but he is really worried about her. His stomach rebels from the nerves. I need another antacid.

He doesn't answer her questions about Kelly, but just nods thoughtfully. "Thanks for the help, Miss Maidstone, you're the best teacher here." He flushes red, wondering if she sees right through him.

He waves and dashes out of the gym, and closes the door behind. He fumbles his bottle from his pack, and tosses two of the coloured pills into his mouth, dry chewing them.

Mysteries abound! If Kelly did drive here herself, then where was Belinda? He continues the search.

"So, not the truck stop then?" Lily teases the boy.

"But yeah, that could be cool. This weekend? Or what were you thinking? Busy week for the paper, you know?" she says with a flutter of the eyelashes that said any help would be appreciated!!

Zach chuckles when he catches Lily's hint. "I'll have to ask Aaron, obviously. But this weekend should be fine," he agrees. "Ooor..." He draws out the word. "How about I come help you at the paper today after school and then maybe we'll be able to do something afterwards? I could even use working at the school paper with you as an excuse with my dad." He's pretty sure that won't work, not with the family meeting and his dad's frustration this morning, but he's just too excited. Not only did he make out with Aaron but also two of his new friends here at school turn out to be queer as well. But he sighs. "Or maybe I'll go home after the paper and we meet in the evening. I'll probably have to sneak out again."

Lily feels for the maneuvers Zach has to make just to visit the paper…

"I think all of our parents are going to be on edge for a while." she offers.

"Maybe we don’t jeopardize going to dance? I wouldn’t want you to miss it because your dad throws a fit after… well, everything!"

Lily couldn’t help but feel that their parents probably had a point in being angry. They’d gotten away with fighting with teachers, it seemed, but it was shaky ground…

"Maybe you're right," Zach concedes. He looks disappointed. "I'm just really excited. For you, for Aaron and me. For us being friends." He gives a self-conscious chuckle. "I'll still ask my dad if I can stay a bit longer after school to help you out at the paper. He probably won't agree, but he might."

The Gym > All Over the School > The Basement

Leaving Maidstone behind (two words Fred loved to put together), the boy searches in earnest throughout the school. Belinda's car is outside, and so is the Unger vehicle. They have got to be here somewhere.

Giving up on the idea of making even the last quarter of his first class, Fred moves quickly throughout the halls, peeking in rooms, checking bathrooms and empty labs, nosing into the teacher lounge, looking the auditorium, the cafeteria...

Finally, as the end-of-first-period bell is about to ring, Fred finds himself in the basement. That's where all the industrial arts classes are taught -- metal shop, woodworking, automotive... and after frustratingly discovering no sign of his stepmother there either, Solomon hears a heavy door opening at the other end of the basement hallway. The door is labeled "Steam Plant," and through it comes none other than Mr. Gromn, the custodian. As he watches, the janitor uses a key on his huge ring of keys to lock the door, then he starts coming down the hallway towards the classrooms and the stairs leading to the main level.

Math Class, End of First Period (Emily, Zach & Lily)

The buzzer goes to end class, and as usual there's a rush to pack up and get the heck out of the room. Kids are closing books, folding papers and zipping bags as they make ready to leave, then head for the door and their next classes.

Mr. Edge, who has ignored all the chatter between Zach and Lily, and a bunch of other kids, is looking mildly and expectantly at Emily -- to see whether she packs up, or comes forward to see him as he requested.

Math Class, End of First Period (Emily, Zach & Lily)

With the class ending, Zach packs up his things. "I'll see you at lunch, Lily, Wendy," he tells them. "And by then I'll know whether I can help out with the newspaper for a bit after school." He glances over to Emily but remembers that Edge asked her to stay after class, so he leaves the room and just waits in the hallway outside the door. Whatever the teacher needs to discuss with her probably shouldn't take too long.

As he's waiting, he pulls out his phone and texts his dad.
Zachary: Hey dad, my friend Lily asked me to stay for a bit after school to help her out
Zachary: School newspaper. Super busy this week
Zachary: So I'll be home a bit later. I'm sure her mom can give me lift home

"Great!" Lily chimes! "Let us know!"

While packing up her stuff, she asks Emily, as innocently as she can possibly manage:

"Want us to wait for you outside? We’re going the same way, right?"

Her eyes go to the teacher for a second, and then she looks at Wendy. Wordlessly, with just a look, she implants a thought into the girl’s head:

The Basement

Freddie continues on, and hefts his bag on his shoulder. He prepares a lie about getting there early for metal shop for next period, having switched, beyond where the Grommster is just locking up.

What is he locking up? Why is it so hot in the school?

He changes his mind. "Mr. Gromm, a moment? Student Council is wondering why the school is so hot. Students are complaining, and we would like to give them an answer on when repairs will be complete. Can you comment?"

Math Class, End of First Period (Emily)

After the class clears out, Emily, who had been somewhat frozen in her seat after she misspoke, now feels anxious about this upcoming discussion. After the way he had acted outside the day the school went a little crazy, she didn't know what to expect. Would he make a pass at her and would she be receptive?

She couldn't just sit there though, so she gets up and approaches the handsome teacher. Quick shallow breaths accompany the walk which feels like it's taking forever.

"What did you want to tell me about the assignment, Mr. Edge?"
