Boseman High School Shenanigans: Episode 1

Lily had just been telling the rest a story, when Zachary sat down.

"… so we’re beginning to wonder if there’ll even be a Homecoming!"

When Zach sits down, she spins on her heel and follows up Zach’s question with her own. One which she had been too afraid to ask unprompted:

"Yeah, how is she? How’s her head? Is she okay? Is she coming home today?"

"She's coming home today, yeah," Freddie says as he sits with his tray of mystery potato hash. He glances at Lily as she pipes up, and feels that conflict. He still isn't positive what happened only that it was a whole bunch of shit show with a side order of WTF.

"Any of you seen my unreasonably hot teen nightmare of a step mom here this morning? Or Kelly Unger's dad? Their cars were in the parking lot but, I haven't find them." He looks around, then leans closer conspirat. "Strange things are afoot at Boseman High."

"Your stepmom?" Zach asks. "Oh, yeah, she's hot." He doesn't sound quite convinced, more like he feels obligated to agree. "No, I haven't seen her. And I don't even know what Mr. Unger looks like, to be honest." He nods over to the table where the football team is sitting, to the quarterback in particular. "But we could ask Dave. He used to date her, so I'm pretty sure he knows Mr. Unger. Maybe he's seen him."

He looks at Lily, refrains from asking her to cover her ears, and then says to Zach, "Dave and I are in a difficult place just now. He might want to take a swing. After all, I drove Kelly home yesterday and then we ended up missing part of the afternoon. I'm sure the rumor mill is churning out juicy, uh, sacks of, uh, rumour flour? Rumflour?" He frowns at the awkward turn of phrase.

Lily stops herself from rolling her eyes as Fred calls his own mother hot. She had to tread carefully on that front.

And yet, she can’t help herself:

"Oh? I didn’t hear any rumors this morning. Did your car break down or something?" she says with a wry smile.

He realizes he's said too much, and had to walk carefully. "Girls take forever in the shower. I went for a walk along the river behind their place and saw that crazy guy I told you about, that had said he'd seen the UFO?"

Zach eyes Fred suspiciously when he comments about his time with Kelly and then mentions his excuse. He's not quite sure he believes him and while he usually would be happy for his friend, the fact that Emily seems to have an interest in him makes him a bit hesitant. Still, Fred's excuse is reasonable enough that Zach doesn't outright question it, but he does file the thought away for later.

Emily greets everyone, then sits and stares at the mush disguised as food on her tray. She isn't the least bit hungry as she looks up at Freddie, ready to give him a sensual smile. That is until he mentions his hot stepmom at which point what started as a sexy smolder turns into a narrow-eyed frown. Then comes the part about the missing afternoon and she's ready to kill him. But rather than make a scene she decides to steal the limelight herself with a bit of steamy news of her own.

"Mr. Edge put his hand on my tits."

Then she looked at Freddie with a smirk as if to say, Yeah not you. The part about her running away and being disgusted she did not reveal and only Zach knew about the incident. She hoped he would go along.

Meanwhile, she was still trying to figure all that out. She had a major crush on the teacher, but when the opportunity arose she faltered. But something was wrong. He smelled off. He was no longer as sexy. Something had changed and it all fed into the weird atmosphere that had developed at the school and was getting weirder by the minute with inexplicable happenings.

Something about the way Emily phrases this makes Zach uncomfortable, as he suddenly imagines himself in Emily's place, Edge's hands on his chest, and that alone is enough to make him feel nauseous. He hopes it doesn't show too much on his face as he looks down at his food tray. "Fucking creep," he mutters. "Someone should do something about him."

"What the fuck? Do you want to call the police? That's ... well it's entirely illegal, as it should be." He's flabbergasted by this events.

"The fuck is going on in this school."

I should jump up onto the table and deliver a speech that rouses the student body into a cohesive unit. They we can march on administration and demand an end to Moscow Macaroni. No, to the abuse of the students by faculty.

Lily just makes a face at Wendy when mention of Edge and tit occurs.

"Congrat… ulations?" she asks/says. "He’s a little high on his own supply for my tastes." she says, not sure which way the conversation is going. Then, she pulls a Blue Steel.

"Emily…" she suddenly says, full of deep, faux-smoldering. "… see me after class." as she runs a hand through her hair, and plays at opening the top few buttons of a shirt.

"Give me a break." she laughs then, rolling her eyes.

Zach wants to chastise Lily for making light of the situation by congratulating Emily for it, but then she gives her spot-on Edge impression and he can't help but burst into a short laugh. "Okay," he says. "That was pretty great."

"Fuck no, Freddie. No police. They're just twerps. They are all probably in it together. The faculty, the cops. Who knows who else. This place is too fucked up. Something else is going on here but I'm damned if I know what it is."

Yeah no cops. Her heart started galloping at the idea of them being near her or her family.

"Yeah… I don’t think the cops will be wanting to hear from us."

She looks around, to make sure no one is listening, and then leans in.

"All the teachers are acting weird, right? Maybe there’s something happening in the Staff Room? A gas leak or something? We could…"

She makes eyes at everyone, raising her brows to finish the sentence.

"… you know… sneak in!"

Freddie leans closer to Lily, and says, "Earlier, I saw that Grom was locking up this door in the mechanical room. Maybe it's to keep kids from making bath salts with his stuff, or maybe that's where all of this is going down. The heat in here is getting worse."

"Right?" Emily says to Lilly. Freddie's observation was interesting but Emily wondered why he wasn't making eyes at her after their meaningful riverbank meeting.

"We could break the lock and go look. Yeah it's getting like a sauna in here. Let's finish and case the area by the mechanical room at least."

"I'm not sure what you're expecting to find down there," Zach points out. He's not feeling all that comfortable breaking into an area they're not allowed in. "I mean, yes, the teachers are all acting weird and creepy. Don't forget how Gromn and Romanov tried to kidnap Emily and her brother yesterday. But what do you think he could be hiding down there? Some mind control... thing?" Zach doesn't quite look convinced.

"Look, no one is going to help us because whoever can, won't. It's up to us kids to do the sleuthing."

Emily was good at sneaking around so she wasn't uncomfortable at all, in fact, she welcomed the distraction and maybe a little showing off for Freddie.

"I don't think we have any idea what we will find but that's part of the problem isn't it? Crazy shit is going on so it's anybody's guess."

Zach frowns, still not willing to commit to this whole idea. He turns to Lily, waiting for her thoughts. Part of him realizes that turning to her to make the decision means that he already has decided. Obviously, she's going to agree to the plan. And so he will as well. "Gromn might attack us again," he points out vaguely.

"Then we have to be ready. Anyone got a baseball bat?" Emily looks around for anything they might use as a makeshift weapon in case they have to defend themselves.
