OOC:
We do, same size as a hurley and same weight for the most part I think.
Emily decides against a smelly helmet which could also have lice.

"Ok, yeah. Let's stuff 'em in this bag." She drops her bat into the bag that Lily is holding open.

OOC:
Alright, love the gear bag, which will let you move amongst the other students without raising eyebrows. What's the plan then, where to next?

OOC:
Fred’s going to lead us in and we bust open this boiler room door, right?
Jun 19, 2023 11:24 am
OOC:
Might have gotten a bit buried but I sent Emily a text asking where to meet above

Freddie leads the impromptu student baseball team away from the gym and down the hallway. Taking it careful at each intersection, he makes his way to the back of the school and the stairs down.

"Everybody settled on their Homecoming dates?"

OOC:
It did. Sorry
Falling in behind Freddie Emily says "Yeah, Homecoming should be fun, if we're all still alive by then. Oh," Emily says as she fishes out her vibrating phone.

"Zach wants to know where to meet us."

"Here? Or no, in the stairwell just there. Out of sight."

Emily texts the rendezvous point to Zach.

"Ok I told him."
Jun 19, 2023 4:48 pm
After sending the text to Emily, Zach keeps his phone unlocked and the chat window with her open until he sees her typing, which sends a wave of relief through him. They made it out undiscovered. When her message arrives and tells him where to meet, he hurries over there. "Did you get what we need?" he asks them, though, to be honest, he's not really sure what they need. Part of him feels like this entire arming up thing was kind of pointless. But at least it went smoothly. And it allowed him an opportunity for an actually nice talk with Ms. Maidstone.

"Eh… Not exactly. It’s still up in the air…" Lily says about the Homecoming, as she hadn’t yet spoken to Wendy.
"Oh yeah, we’re good to go! Where’s the room you saw, Fred?"

Wednesday 12:30pm - The Basement (All)

Their ruse successful, the now-armed quartet of students navigates the suddenly crowded hallways as other teens move to their next classes, from the cafeteria and other classrooms. By the time the second bell goes off at the bottom of the hour, only a few stragglers are left, other than Fred, Emily, Lily, and Zach — all of whom are now late for their next class.
OOC:
What class is that, each of you?
Reaching the school basement, where Fred saw Mr. Gromn come out of the door that lead to the steam plant, the foursome moves quietly down the hall as the sounds of industrial arts classes start to resound. Band saws, welders, drills, torque wrenches — there’s quite a racket as the students approach the closed door, sweat trickling down each of their backs.
Jun 24, 2023 4:12 am
Zach follows the group, looking increasingly worried the more time passes as they enter the basement. "Guys, is this really such a good idea?" he asks. "I mean, what are we expecting to find in there? And we are missing even more classes." As Fred shows them the door that Gromn came out of, Zach is distracted, thinking about the science class he's missing. It's Mr. Carlsson's class and the man already doesn't like Zach, something the boy, who in turn does actually really like Mr. Carlsson, isn't too happy about. "Okay, if we need to go in there, then let's hurry. We can still get to our classes. Just a bit late."

"I’d hate to miss another study period." Lily remarks.

"Its English for me, and no one’s seen Levitt since yesterday!" (or the day before?!) she follows up, going to unzip the bag of bats again, now that they’re out of the way of the crowd.

"Its something to do with that!" she says, threateningly pointing the tip of her bat at the locked door.
Jun 24, 2023 1:06 pm
Freddie shrugs. "Most of the classes are just on autopilot this week, while the teachers get their alien abduction on. I doubt Levitt was going to wow us with new material today, Lily. "

He points out the boiler room. "That's where I saw Gromn locking stuff up. But I'm not sure that any of us can pick locks using hair pins or whatever we have that's long and thin."
Jun 24, 2023 3:30 pm
"You guys are a bunch of nerds and your missing classes. I'm not even sure what I have next and I don't care. Believe it or not I might be able to pick a lock. We can at least try."

Emily's tight face relaxes a little when she turns to Freddie. "Look, we all know something really fucked up is going on here. We have to do something and hope we stumble across a clue. I get your nervousness but no one else is helping us are they? We have to try."
Jun 24, 2023 10:00 pm
The door looms before the teens, heavy, steel — locked. Picking the lock is one option, breaking it down is not. They might be able to smash the doorknob off with a bat, though.
OOC:
Picking the lock, which is located in the doorknob in this steel door, is a Thievery test. If you don’t have the right equipment to attempt picking it, the roll will be at -4. If you have some sort of makeshift lock pick, -2. Anyone not picking the lock can Support if they can justify it and make a successful roll tied to that justification — +1 to the lockpicking on a success, +2 on a raise. A critical failure on the Support rolls gives the lockpicking result -2.

Smashing the doorknob with an aluminum bat or the like will make tons of racket, and is at -1 for a straight up Strength test. Others can support here too, using the rules above. (Justify it, roll vs. some appropriate skill or attribute.)

"If you think you can do it, Emily, then go ahead and give it a shot," Zach says, looking at the keyhole skeptically. "Does anyone have anything sharp? That's how that works, right?" He frowns. "But if that doesn't work, I don't really see a way in there. The door is way too heavy to break open."
OOC:
Is there a gap under the door? If so, Zach will try to peek through that into the room

"Anyone know the credit card trick?" Lily asks from behind, miming sliding a card into an imaginary door handle and jiggling it about until it opens.

"Looks easy on TV!"
Jun 25, 2023 1:53 pm
"I did it once Zach, but I had a lock pick. I've seen the credit card trick on TV of course but I've never tried it. If you think you can do it, have at it, Lilly."
Jun 25, 2023 2:45 pm
Freddie looks around the area. "Maybe we can manage something from the industrial arts shop. Anybody take classes?" He laughs, knowing it's unlikely, then adds, "Or got some amigos down here right now? We could get them to slip us something."

Freddie knows most kids in the school at least to put a face to the name, if not their schedules.

Marco would know what to do, that freaky asshole.
