Emily to Freddie; Yeah sure. We're still here.
She hoped for another heart but that would have been silly and too much. Maybe the last one was a typo, she thinks, suddenly unsure and feeling dumb.

"Shit Steve. Forgot him. Man, he's so annoying," she says mostly to herself.

Boseman High School Shenanigans: Episode 1

After stopping at Debby's room, and making sure she's okay, he tells her he will immediately head to the school and look for Sarah and Belinda. He explains that the he got in a fight outside and took a 'shot' to the head and doesn't elaborate other than he got some stiches and will be fine.

"There are people missing from the school. We pulled Priya out and brought her here, she was in rough shape. I'll go look for them now."

"You can't sign her out. Her legal guardian needs to do that," a tall nurse is saying to Fred as Debby throws her hands up in the air in a huff.

"But I was cleared by the doctor, and we can't find our stepmom!" Fred's sister protests... but the nurse is having none of it.

"Sweetie -- it's our policy. You want to be released, find your mom tell her come sign your release."

"What’s taking him so long?" Lily asks Emily and Wendy. They wouldn’t know the answer, but there was a lot of pent up energy from the day, and it didn’t feel all that good being stuck in a hospital lobby.

Lily felt the need to keep looking over her shoulder…

Emily taps off another text to Freddie, her fingers hovering for an instant, wondering if there is a subtle endearment or emoji she can add. She decides against it and hits send.

Lily pulls on Wendy’s arm as Fred approaches and gives her the eyes towards Emily.

Just as he arrives, she blurts out:

"Shit. I left my… uh… thing in the van. We’ll just go and… get it." she says, pulling Wendy away from the duo.

"Glad you’re alright!" she calls back to Fred, leaving the two of them alone for a moment!

Freddie takes Emily in his arms, squeezing her tightly. He suddenly wonders if she got hit, he hadn't seen that. The blood in his head buzzes with the exertion. "Shit, are you okay?" He steps back eyeing her critically.

"Oh!" Happily surprised by the hug and Freddie's concern she was momentarily lost for words.

"I'm fine, but how are you doing? You look ... I don't know, pale and frazzled." She kept seeing the image of his texted heart in her mind's eye and it made heat rush to her cheeks. She leaned in for another hug and whispered in his ear. "I was worried."

Suddenly feeling awkward she steps back as if nothing passed between them. "We have to go get Steve at the school, ok?" Heading toward the van she realizes that her friends are pretty cool. Lily was nice to leave her and Freddie alone for that brief but private moment.

Lin is a little confused as her friend bustles her on out of there, giving Emily and Fred some space. When they get outside, she shakes her head as they head for the van. "Lily, are they… I mean… when did… are they a thing?" she asks.

"I can’t say for sure, but…" she jerks her head back towards Fred and Emily approaching hand in hand. "… what do you think?" she says with a knowing grin.

"Who knew that Fred Solomon was the type to go steady?" she says, starting to fake weep. "They… they grow up so fast." she says, starting to laugh with her friend, only hushing when the other two pull the door to the van open.

"Heeeeey!" Lily sings.

Zach’s Room

"Zach?" the boy’s mother says after knocking on and cracking open the door to his hospital room. When she sees her son inside, she rushes to his bedside and begins doting on him immediately, kissing his cheeks, brushing his hair out of his eyes.

Mr. Tidwell comes in behind her, and the two nurses in the room exit to give the family some privacy. "Zach, we were so worried when we got the call," the man says, coming to the bedside as well. "Are you okay son? What happened? Who did this?"

Zach lets his mother dote on him and holds on to her in a hug, allowing himself to not be tough and defensive for a moment but to just let his parents take care of him. He also moves to hug his dad when he gets to his bedside. "It was those two guys, the same as earlier this week. They were harrassing Emily again so Lily and I tried to get them to leave but the one guy punched me in the side and the other"—He decides not to mention that he fought against grown men armed with guns—"hurt Fred." He then forces himself to sit upright, not worrying about his chest in front of his parents, even though he does feel weird about it. "But it's all good now. The nurses said it's nothing serious and I can just go home with you guys."

Zach’s Room

"What the hell kind of town is this?" Zach's father growls, holding his kid tight. He's protective and wants to know why this is all happening -- but mostly he's glad Zach is okay. "Did they apprehend these guys?"

Zach's mom smiles through her tears as her husband and son hug, but then she remembers her phone and checks it as the pair finally separates. The boy's dad is sending Zach to the bathroom to change and collect his things when Mrs. Tidwell makes a worried sound.

"Have you heard from Rose, Zach? We've been trying to reach her, to tell her to find another ride home, or wait at the school for us, but... she's not responding."

Boseman High School Parking Lot
510pm - Emily, Lily, Wendy, Fred

After climbing into the van and driving back to the school -- to the building they'd frantically fled from with Priya's unconscious form, Lily, Emily and Fred find themselves wrestling with the fact that they haven't really talked about all this yet as Emily sees her brother and heads towards him.

There are a number of cars still in the parking lot -- including Belinda's, and Fred's.

"So Zach's really okay?" Wendy is asking Lily in the back as the van comes to a stop and Steve, red-faced, jogs over towards it. Further away, Fred sees Sarah on her phone, hanging near the main entrance of the school.

"So what are we actually doing here?" Lily asks the others, as Emily rendezvous with her brother.

"Besides recruiting Zach’s replacement as team quarterback, I mean." she says, looking at Steve and wondering if he could handle… all of this.

"Yeah, yeah. He seems okay." she says, rubbing the back of the girl’s hand reassuringly. "I mean, not okay. But more okay than he could have been, you know?

How did he seem Fred? When you saw him?"

"They did," Zach answers his father's questions as he heads into the bathroom. "Lily knocked them out. She's really dang tough."

Once in there, he listens to his mother's concerns, mirroring his own. He definitely doesn't want his parents involved in the whole business that he and his friends stumbled into, though, so he tries to soothe their concerns somewhat while he and his friends will figure out their next steps. "She said she was meeting some of her friends right after school. She hasn't responded to my texts in a while either, but you know what she's like."
