"Well, tell me any other way you know then?" Zach fires back. "You don't know any either. Bet you don't even have any ideas beyond 'Oh, look at what movie I watched last night'." He knows he's going to feel bad about this as soon as his emotions calm down again, but he still can't stop himself from being angry right now. "I don't know any more about this than you do. None of us know anything! That's the fucking problem! So just shut your mouth and be serious for one moment while my sister's life is in danger!"

"Uhhh… How about loud noises? How about germs? How about… um… I don’t know, trapping them in a walk-in freezer until the slugs jump out looking for some place warm?" she sits forward, counting out all the ways they could fight these aliens. They were all movie references, but maybe Zach wouldn’t know that.

"Your sister’s life is only in danger if you swing a great big bat at her head. So… and this is just me spitballing solutions, Zach; but maybe don’t invite her over here."

"My sister's life is in danger because she has an alien parasite inside her," Zach growls at her. "And of course I'm not going to swing a bat at her. But we need to get Rose here. Who knows what she'll do if we let her roam around like this. And we need to have her here to help her." He lets out a long breath, calming down a bit from his frustration, then wiping some tears from his eyes. "And see, you do have some ideas if you just stop fucking around all the time. The freezer thing was what I was going to suggest as well. You know, because of the whole heating thing."
He takes a couple more shaky breaths, then says, "I'm sorry, Lily. I'm just really scared."

In the midst of this, Wendy has fallen quiet, not liking it when her friends fight, and Zach's phone buzzes again:

Rose: You there? I saw you called. Are you with your friends? Where are you guys?
A short distance away, Emily's phone buzzes in her pocket as well.

"I'll text her back and tell her to come here," Zach says, indicating his phone once he's read the text.

Emily's arms stiffen at her sides as her patience wears thin.

"What's the next move? And we need to prioritize and decide if we want to find help."

Freddie listens to them argue. "We're all tense. If it is a parasite, then it probably left when it noticed that Gromn's body was dying. So what ways can we safely make it think that? Lily's idea about the cold might work, but inducing hypothermia isn't perfectly safe either."

He claps his hands. "What else? An injection that makes the body unsuitable, like too much vitamin C or something like that, but that's a lot of hit and miss. Umm, what else? Electric zaps?"

"We can keep thinking about that," Zach says, "But Rose - or Not-Rose - will get suspicious if I don't reply. I'll tell her to meet me here."

He unlocks his phone again, then types a message to his sister:

Zach:	Rose! Where the hell have you been all day? I've been worried sick
Zach:	I snuck out of the house to look for you. Am at the school now
Zach:	Where are you? Let's meet up and get back home. I covered for you but if we don't get back, we're both screwed

Bad idea… Hive Mind… Our Location…

Then she shrugs in surrender.

"I’m sorry, too. It’s been a really weird few days."

At least Fred was thinking along the same lines as her! She waits for ‘Rose’ to message back.

Rose: You're at the school? Now? Where?

As Zach is texting, Fred's phone buzzes yet again as well.

Zach:	I'm alone
Zach:	I was worried about you and just went out to look for you
Zach:	What boy?

To his friends, he says, "I'll get out of the car and wait by the door. Try not to make yourself visible so she doesn't get suspicious." He glances at his phone again. "She says she's with someone. I don't know if that's true or not, but I guess be prepared for there to be someone else."

"Doesn’t this seem like an obviously bad idea to anyone else? Hey alien, here’s our location!"

"Yeah Lilly, it's a terrible idea and would you please stop with the aliens? Anyway, none of us know enough about hypothermia or injecting stuff into anyone." Emily realizes too late that she probably insulted Freddie and tries to walk it back.

"I mean Freddie, good thinking and all but shit, we might kill her. Besides, we'd have to get needles, syringes, and injectable vitamins although I've seen that an air bubble injected into a person can kill them. But we don't want to kill her so...."
