Boseman High School Shenanigans: Episode 1

Finally spotting them spotting her, Lily beckons more frantically, as if it would help them scurry across to meet up that much quicker.

When they finally arrive, she awkwardly gets out of the car, but doesn’t to now what to do about her mom!

"Oh, ah… my mom’s here. Yeah, Bentley picked us all up.

Mom, you know Fred. And this is his girlfriend, Emily. She was at Pathfinder the other night!"

She answers preemptively, knowing her mother would be filing away details only to ask later.

"Where have you guys been?"

At the School

Happy to see that her daughter's friends have arrived, Mrs. Palmer gets out and heads for her husband. "Lily!" she calls over her shoulder. "I'm going to get your father! We'll Uber back! You go with your friends, okay! Go!"

Fred's phone sounds as another text comes in, and as Lily approaches the car window.

Clutch: Is it the fkkin cougers
Clutch: i bet its the fking cougers! were coming!

"Yeah I see her, Freddie. Over there, let's go."

Waving at Lilly, Emily approaches the car, and greets her mom. Lilly's question takes Emily by surprise even though it shouldn't.

"Uh...," is all Emily manages to squeak out. Waiting for Lilly's mom to look away Emily shakes her head, narrowing her eyes as if to say NOT HERE! When her mom takes off she says, "You won't believe what's happened, but first tell us what's going on here."

When Freddie's phone dings twice Emily leans into him. "Who is the text from, Freddie? What's happened?"

"Hey, Missus Palmer, you're looking good. Your skin has a glow. Have you been going to Fabu-tan? " His easy charm rolls off his tongue.

When she heads off, he calls, "Bye, Missus Palmer!" He winks at Lily.

To answer Emily, he says, "Clutch is bringing everyone he can. Let's make this public and difficult. Even if it's just a distraction. But what's going on? We hafta find Zach! He's in the fucking asylum isn't he. This isn't the 1800s, you can't just lock up someone because they're," he sputters out, searching for the right word, "um, like a big nerd. All the best people are nerds! Right, Emily?"

"Ignore him!" Lily calls after her mother, swatting at Fred in that harmless way! Her mother had heard more than her fair share of stories about Fred around the dinner table.

"So… are we using them as a distraction, or are we going in with them?" she quizzes the boy on the plan.

At the School

Mrs. Palmer has a little color in her cheeks and spring in her step as she jogs to join her husband, who seems determined to find out what's going on... to find out why his family was awakened in the middle of the night by the police. They share a few words -- and then are swarmed by a large group of people who burst out of the shadows and grab them both! They struggle and call out, but it's clear from sheer numbers that the pair has no chance to escape.

And at that same moment, Officer Bentley is seized and wrestled to the ground as well -- violently, as she fights back fiercely. Her battle too is in vain; there are just too many of them.

It's hard to tell exactly who is in these mobs, but there are absolutely a bunch of teachers -- Mr. Polensky, Mr. Levitt, Mr. Edge, Ms. Romanov, Ms. Gonzalez, Coach Murdock, Principal Romeo and more. There are a lot of them!

Sheriff Akins

Stepping forward and pointing at the shocked trio is suddenly Sheriff Akins.

"There they are!" he shouts. "Get them!"

"What if... what if they just leave us locked in here. What if no one ever comes?" Aaron frets. Zach is at the door, trying to work the little sliding metal cover over the observation window, but it only operates from the other side.

"We might die in here," Connery said quietly, the gravity of the situation pressing down on him.

The Asylum?

"People are coming to save us," Zach promises, giving up on his attempt to peek outside. He turns to Aaron and once again puts his arms around the other boy, holding him tight. "My friends know where we are. I've livestreamed our kidnapping. Soon, the whole town is going to come looking for us." He brushes a hand softly through Aaron's hair and kisses him again. "We just have to stay strong."

Freddie's plans to escape notice seem to have angered the universe. "Run!" he says, pushing both girls in the direction of the football field. There's a side entrance to the school that maybe isn't locked. He hopes.

Emily frowns at Freedie and his ridiculous flattery.

"I don't know where Zach is. You're the one whose phone is blowing up."

Then hell breaks loose. "What the fu... We better run! The teachers are all possessed. The world's gone mad!" Clutching Freddie she follows the boy and hopes he is going in the right direction.

The three of you have a fair lead on this pack of teachers, so rather than make this opposed, let's just go with regular checks. Athletics to get the stadium and lose the teachers, please!

Lily lets out a shriek as she watches her parents, and Officer Bentley get taken down with violence.

Then she seems that they mean to do the same for them. How long until the back up arrived?

"Agh!" she shouts, and sets off like some prey animal racing for its life.

Surprised at how speedy Lily is, and Emily too, Fred stops trying to slow enough to keep pace, but instead is struggling to maintain their speed.

Look at all those raises!

Let's not waste them. You can each pick one thing from this list, and after it's picked, it's gone:

1. The side-entrance to the school that Fred was thinking of? The one from the stadium? It's unlocked!
2. Officer Bentley somehow escapes and gets away. You might have another ally in this!
3. Clutch and company arrive *soon*, inside ten minutes instead of double that.
4. Clutch, when he arrives, has 2d6 pals instead of 1d6 pals.
5. Lily's parents manage to slip away to safety and busy themselves looking for Lily, staying narratively out of trouble.
6. Wendy avoids capture as she arrives at the school and you have an ally on the outside.
7. Not only do you race through the stadium and get to the door in time, but you evade / lose your pursuers. They don't know where you are.
8. You find an ally inside the school. An NPC of your choice.
