At the School
It's a wild chase as Fred, Lily, and Emily take off towards the stadium. The teens run like they never have before, and the teachers have trouble keeping up with the kids as they race beneath the bleachers, as they tear through the locker rooms, and as they finally bolt across the field, darting behind the fieldhouse and finding their way into the school.
Hearts are pounding and chests are heaving as they quietly close the door behind them, finding themselves in a stairwell, one lit only by Emergency Exit signs. From here, the stairs go up and down, and there's a door that exits into the hallways of the main level.

"Okay," Aaron says, nodding after returning Zach's kiss. There's a moment when it feels like it might become something more, but then there's a sound from outside the door -- the working of a heavy latch!

Zach breaks the kiss when he hears the sounds, then he pushes Aaron to stand right next to the door against the wall. "I will attack whoever is coming in," he whispers. "As soon as I do, you run and hide somewhere." He throws Aaron a nervous smile, then steps back from the door, readying himself to sprint at and tackle whoever is opening the door as soon as it becomes possible.

"Shit. Fuck. Shitfuck." Lily wheezes, the words coming breathy through gulping breaths.
"Did we lose them?" she asks, reaching for her phone. She puts a hand to her chest as it thumps, rising and falling.
"Phew!" then she starts to type.
Lily: Don’t come!
It’s all she sends to Wendy as she tries to pull herself together. Looking at the stairs, she turns to the others:
"No point going up.’

Presuming Emily is okay with this plan…A quick, furtive look around that corner reveals that someone is standing guard outside the door, about thirty meters down the hall. It’s their gym teacher, the sublime Ms. Brittany Maidstone. The woman wears expensive yoga pants with a print of some kind and a tank top as she stands there, using her phone with one hand.
Lily’s phone software vibrates before the trio can quietly discuss their course of action. It’s Wendy, who offers a 👍 emoji up on Lily’s last text.

"I fucking hate bats. There better not be any," Emily says as they creep through the basement. Stopping short when she sees a teacher she whispers, "Who is that and why are they guarding the door to the asylum? Jesus, it's the gym teacher. Do we take her out or what?"

Freddie is conflicted. She's really hot, and has also helped him immensely with his recovery.

The somewhat terrified and confused girl yanks out her pistol, glad that she had been diligently shooting at a target in the backyard once a week at her parent's insistence.
The cool handle feels oddly reassuring even though she has never pointed it at a human being before.

"Jesus… Alright." Lily says, eyeing the pistol. She feels naked down here without the bat she had, and had to use, last time around. Her eyes wander to corridor for anything that might constitute a weapon.

The door shudders, then starts to open -- slowly, like whoever is on the other side is wary. As it opens into the room, a cast of scarlet light makes its way into the dark cell, and then the beam of a powerful flashlight appears, illuminating Zach and landing on his face.
"Hello there," the voice behind the light says -- one Zach recognizes. Mr. Myers, the balding, overweight economics teacher. The one who likes ogling teen girls.
"Where's your buddy Mr. Tidwell? Mr. Connery? Come on out where we can see you, please..."

The Basement of the School
Between the kids and the redonkulously hot and possibly slugified gym teacher are several classrooms -- shop, woodworking, automotive... all the old-school industrial arts are taught down here. If Lily were to be on the hunt for a weapon, there are few better places in the school to be... if the classroom doors are open.

Despite his best efforts to get close to Maidstone before she notices him, or at least before she reacts to him, the teacher pushes herself off the wall and holds up a gentle hand for the teens to keep their distance as Fred makes his play.
"Hey! Hold on, hold on," the hyper-fit woman says, lifting her phone, gesturing with it, showing them an active chat from about twenty feet away. She's not biting on Fred's ruse. "Everyone is looking for you guys, do you know that?"
Behind her two friends, Lily tries one classroom knob, then another. Both are locked!
"I think there's been a big misunderstanding," Maidstone goes on. "You guys saw some things you didn't understand, right? Am I right, Freddie?"

At that, the source of the red glow shimmers and shimmies into the doorway -- the strange, glowing, hovering thing Zach saw earlier, and it's moving into the room!

As soon as the first tendrils of the strange red creature curl around the doorframe, Zach whispers to Aaron, "Run. Don't let that thing touch you. Hide!" Then he sprints at Myers, ramming his shoulder into the man's chest and hoping to drive the air out of his lungs to give Aaron a chance to get past, assuming the red thing doesn't catch him.

Seizing the moment, Zach explodes out of the room, slamming into Myers, driving the man back into the wall behind him. "Za -- oof!" the man shouts as the wind is knocked out of him, but the teen quickly realizes just how much trouble he's in. With Mr. Myers is not only whatever the hell that red thing is, but also Mrs. Carlisle, the language teacher who is a little too old her her skirts and that Fred maintains used to make pornos. She comes for the boy while the pulsing red horror moves into the cell, going after Aaron.
