"Better for him" meaning "better from his perspective".

Ah so now we know why we are cursed.

I will point out, the man who kills Polites also kills Priam but we have greatly deviated from that and this is probably way more insulting to Athena than Cassandra's abuse.

Bruh, there are so many reasons for the gods to be mad hahaha

- Helen might escape, putting the bros at odds with Odysseus and certainly gaining some curse words
- Helen might not escape, breaking Ody's oath
- Ajax knocked over Athena's statue in an act of flagrant disrespect
- Ody didn't vigilante justice him (which is a canon reason for the initial storm Athena sends, though the trigger to her rage is different)

Recall, too, that what formally screws over Odysseus after all this is his mockery of Polyphemus. But you'll be separated from him by then because this is isn't about him hahaha

Yes, and regarding Polites/Priam, I have Achilles as a bit younger here, and that man is his son. Also some of that man's war acts cross my boundaries, so I'm quite happy to write him out.

As chaotic as it is, I am enjoying the subversions. I hope you guys are, too.

I mean, we've gone WAY off Homer's rails, but I started doing that in Character Creation

Very much enjoying it. Like you said, this is our story, and like all good oral tradition, whose to say Homer's version is the right one? ;)

All right, I have said it before, thus I will warn y'all again.

The penalties of hubris are a major theme, especially in the Illiad and Odyssey.

PC's are not exempt from this.

But...

Mama said that it was okay...

Mama said that it was quite, all, right.

If anyone is curious, that's Pre-Attic (Phoenician alphabet) Greek. It just says "Bvar, Bvar, Bvar". It's the origin of the word "barbarian", because people who don't speak Greek just walk around going "Bvar Bvar Bvar" at each other.

I thought so! XD

So, I goofed. It seems the Palladium may have been the statue Cassandra clung to, but there are also stories implying it was hidden, so I like the idea of it being a carved plaque sort of thing higher in the temple.

No worries. Unless his name comes up, I'm going to just have Kouru packing the temple and working his healing mojo on himself until otherwise notified.

Hey, all!

Holy Week starts Sunday (and we're cleaning the church Saturday), so I'll be around, but not as much. Just giving you a heads up!

Full disclosure, I don't actually know if it's proper for invaders to eat sacrificial meat prematurely offered by the conquered nation.

The gods didn't care enough to save the Trojans, one would think the gods of war would understand to the victor go the spoils.

That and temples exist to feed the hungry that is their express purpose throughout all history and even the modern world.

I imagine the clerics would have had time to divvy the proper portions to the gods first, too.

What is this "I imagine." I'm the GM. Yes, the gods got their share. Nobody's gonna get smote for eating free meat.

Is Nikias seeing the temple in this state for the first time as he arrives? Is he just walking into this blasphemy?
Apr 1, 2023 1:08 am
Yep! Helen was still in the lower city. I imagine Kouru is handling his area respectfully, but there comes a point where he's just a soldier and it's a big temple.
