Welcome to ImYeoDaddy! Please feel free to peruse the rules thread and share character concepts in the character discussion thread.

Yeo is an IRL friend and a great storyteller. I'm glad to have a 5th on the team!

Welcome new friend.

Welcome!!

FYI, I'm hosting guests this weekend, so I probably won't be on much.

Totally checks out.
Mar 15, 2023 9:49 pm
Okay, so, starting this early leads to some weird cut-scenes, and I apologize. I rolled secretly to see who'd hear the Trojan plan, and who'd believe it. You all have private feedback which I'll make public after this chapter.

It's probably gonna be chaos. Call it an experiment. After you are out of the horse I won't roll for you, unless there's an extenuating circumstance, so thank you for your patience.

And, yeah, dice happen. Maybe one of you gets out. We'll see how it goes.
Mar 16, 2023 8:49 pm
I would like to take a moment to point out that Tiwaz, who is a foreigner and, if I recall, not quite old enough to marry by Greek standards, is barking at Kouru, a seasoned veteran Spartan. This amuses me.

He would respect Kouru's beard. It's almost as thick and bushy as his own.
Mar 16, 2023 11:56 pm
... Trust the two strong characters to both roll poorly for strength. Though that could be the awards of turning/being in front coming into play.
Mar 17, 2023 12:09 am
The best looking characters, but the gods do not want Lantha to be first to fight.
Mar 17, 2023 12:15 am
As a GM I must admit I'm loving the chaos. You're keeping me on my toes.
Mar 17, 2023 12:37 am
I was once described as the dark and disturbed reaches of the gamersplane hivemind. A Warlock and font of ludicrous behavior. Glad I'm living up to my rep.

I was focused more of the BA character choice even though meta-wise it's not a great decision.
Mar 17, 2023 2:33 am
And yes, Penthesilea, the Amazonian queen slain by Achilles (as far as you know). I'm....not even gonna threaten autocorrect with this game. I think my phone would go on strike :P

If not utterly explode. Lithium batteries are not to be trifled with.
Mar 17, 2023 2:57 am
English is not even my second language. Though I'm pretty sure I'm more fluent than most Americans sometimes I still have trouble with typos. Makes my brain seize.
Mar 17, 2023 1:36 pm
A little retcon on my part. Achilles is dead already. My bad. I got the timeline messed up. Which means, if anyone is keeping score, Ajax the Greater is dead, but Ajax the lesser is alive.
Mar 17, 2023 5:18 pm
All good! You're doing a great job so far, I would never be able to keep all that straight myself :)
Mar 17, 2023 5:33 pm
Thanks :) My husband is a history major, so I just have to remember to springboard ideas past him hahaha

Penthesilea?
Yeah that was a typo. I write quite often on phone on bus/early morning. Don't think there was a chance that name ever going to be correct.

On that not though it Iantha with a capital I, not Lantha :p

Mar 19, 2023 7:50 pm
Hey guys, sorry for holding the game up. Truth is I'm not quite feeling the enthusiasm for this game any more as when we started. So since we're still very early in the game, please feel free to replace me. I'm respectfully bowing out. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Mar 19, 2023 8:33 pm
It happens. Thanks for the heads up!
Mar 19, 2023 10:16 pm
Have those hearing voices/drawn to jump out snapped out of it?
Mar 19, 2023 10:18 pm
You are snapped out of it, sorry for not clarifying. The failed stealth rolls are why Helen decided to just knock on the horse.
Mar 21, 2023 4:42 pm
So, remember that we roll to confirm both critical successes and failures - and C1NDER, since these men are caught off guard, it was easy to confirm that crit.

So the gods get involved! The situation may not be good, but Nikias now has important information that otherwise would not have been available, so for him in particular it's a boon.
Mar 23, 2023 4:27 pm
Question:

Polites has advantage on an attack? HERO points?
Mar 23, 2023 5:17 pm
He is an ancient hero, so it's a unique boon. Worth noting he only gets the advantage on his first attack with a normal attack.

He's a 6th level npc class to get him to an appropriate CR, since NPC classes are weaker generally, which is how he gets 2 standard attacks.

As far as resisting the crit. There's a feat that allows the sacrifice of armor in exchange for regular damage, hence the destroyed shield. So he can manage, but at a permanent reduction of AC. Or at least, I assume permanent for him considering the average damage of Earthbreaker haha
Mar 23, 2023 6:22 pm
As a heads up reading the feat it just allows fa Crit threat so you would still need to confirm.

Ngl seems a little to good to be true still but there it is.

Can I query the size increase. Mostly as would like to know how to get on my own non abyssal blood ragers?
Mar 23, 2023 6:25 pm
I am likewise curious.

Regarding the jump situation, I will chat with a couple other folks who know how to make broken but legal strong PF fighters and check interpretation. I imagine it's a bit messy due to my crit rules, which is why it hits so hard for now, but also doesn't attract the gods.
Mar 23, 2023 6:27 pm
I think it's coming as the book is not strictly pathfinder and more 3.5. And I'm guessing meant to offset lack of magic where here the size increase and the x3 earthbreaker is increasing it, (I will say Earthbreaker is not in the listed weapons in the book? But spear which is x3 so they had to realise it could happen.)
Last edited March 23, 2023 6:31 pm
Mar 23, 2023 6:41 pm
Oh the size increase isn't from a feat. Just good old fashioned bloodrager spells of which enlarge person is on the spell list.

Flavored as flexing of course.

Being able to pick up 765lbs or drag over a ton myself I know a thing or three about how much larger a person gets when exerting themselves to the fullest.
Mar 23, 2023 7:05 pm
Ah fair I missed that as lost track of rounds. Do be aware that takes a full round to do so as that's a common missed thing :p
Mar 23, 2023 7:09 pm
Yes I think as a retcon it should be noted that he enraged and Enlarged as he exited the horse due entirely to my transposition error.
Mar 23, 2023 7:36 pm
FWIW I decided against using a Scythe for the damage output on a leap attack. But it's not even a new idea, this particular build is an old PFS build, although not with Bloodrager as that is banned in PFS.

It hails from 3.5e the Shock Trooper build. Although it's less feat intensive than ST

*cough* when I pick up vital strike it'll get even worse
Last edited March 23, 2023 7:37 pm
Mar 23, 2023 8:24 pm
Would have thought not pfs as the feat is 3rd party/3.5 esque. Unless I am looking at the wrong feat.

Also vital strike unfortunately wouldn't work as can't vital strike on a charge (it's a standard action) (and the vital strike dice don't Crit)

Edit: Can't find bloodline strike right now for those extra d6s, but those likely won't multiply either Unfortunatly. The general rule is extra dice don't Crit, flat damage does (except swashbuckler as its precision :p)

Ooh great point. I forgot that. Maybe need to revise my build. Although vital strike will make for better damage when otherwise jumping is not an option(which is rare but still an option)

Since Leaping Strike can only be used as part of a charge perhaps I should look into the feat chain that allows one to charge on a 5ft step and make turns during charges
Mar 24, 2023 2:32 am
Just as a heads up / assurance / warning.

In canon, Ajax the lesser commits SA. I am only referencing his intention here, nothing more. One way or another he'll be out of the picture long before anything else.
Mar 24, 2023 4:49 am
Yeah Tiwaz is gonna end their feud quickly if no one else does. Strongest man has to set a right example to the weaker ones. Acting like an animal is no beuno.
Mar 24, 2023 7:17 am
Indeed. Apparently these kids need to sort out their priorities.

Also, hello all! Sorry, I honestly thought that I'd posted a greeting. Thank you all for your kind welcome.
Mar 25, 2023 12:30 am
YOU LAUGHING NOW, A-A-AJAX?
Mar 25, 2023 1:26 am
You did tickle him
Mar 25, 2023 2:27 am
Ooooookay
so
Kouru is only mostly dead!
Because he got a crit fail, and that's gonna hurt, but his "confirmation" would have passed Ajax's AC. Since it wasn't a second failure, it didn't confirm, and no gods get involved due to that.
Mar 25, 2023 2:31 am
Luckily there might be a certain Sun Priest who can stabilize him. Poor Kouru tried to stop the inevitable. But looked badass in the attempt

But MAN, the ONES just keep COMING tonight!

I realize I made a terrible mistake naming this game.

"Not-Dyssey" rolls off the tongue far better.

Thank you Yeo...
Mar 27, 2023 12:52 am
Joms, to clarify, are you looking for someone to fight you on behalf of Kouru to determine Priam's fate, or someone to fight you on behalf of Priam because dude's 80?
Mar 27, 2023 1:00 am
lavtodd says:

Ajax dodges the blow but slips back to his knees. As Kouru speaks, Ajax's eyes dart like a cornered beast.

Booty! You can't claim me like some - some statue!

With that he leaps and lands another blow across Kouru. The soldiers cry out, indignant, ready to stone him. Their clamoring mixes with the proclamation of Tiwaz.

From near the altar of Zeus, King Priam of Troy approaches cautiously with the steps of a broken old man.

I will give you the fight you demand, Luwian. I deserve such a fate for my foolishness. But let me make one last plea to the divine.
For what it's worth, the temple had surrendered by the middle of the fight with Polites becasue Tiwaz is terrifying. Priam came out after Polites' death.

Also, did this guy just yell "SCREW KING ODYSSEUS" while standing in front of King Odysseus?
Mar 27, 2023 1:13 am
Tiwaz is technically right - the most dangerous kind of right! At least about Odysseus. See above for the claim over Priam situation.
Mar 27, 2023 1:13 am

Yes for Priam's fate. Although it is a duel and I suppose Priam also has the right to name a champion.

Also, did this guy just yell "SCREW KING ODYSSEUS" while standing in front of King Odysseus?

Not in so many words. Although yeah definitely screw that guy for trying to interrupt an honor duel that was accepted before the Goddess of Honor Duels

lavtodd says:

This is my least favorite way of being right. But I'm trying to die a legend here.
Mar 27, 2023 1:32 am
My dude, are you trying to die in what is effectively session 1?

I am going to veto this. Story-wise, the temple and inhabitants were claimed for Sparta, so they're part of the share of Menelaus. He absolutely outranks you.

Practically speaking, Priam had like 60+ sons. Killing a prince and taking his sword is something quite a few soldiers were able to do. Priam is the king of Troy.

Mechanically speaking, the honor of killing the king of the nation you've had under seige for a decade is worth way more than 2750 GP.

He's a sentimental, regretful, mournful old man, yes, and it'd certainly be better for him to die in battle. But due to the conflicting claims, this is the call I'm making. I appreciate your patience.
Mar 27, 2023 1:49 am
"Better for him" meaning "better from his perspective".
Mar 27, 2023 1:54 am
Ah so now we know why we are cursed.

I will point out, the man who kills Polites also kills Priam but we have greatly deviated from that and this is probably way more insulting to Athena than Cassandra's abuse.

Bruh, there are so many reasons for the gods to be mad hahaha

- Helen might escape, putting the bros at odds with Odysseus and certainly gaining some curse words
- Helen might not escape, breaking Ody's oath
- Ajax knocked over Athena's statue in an act of flagrant disrespect
- Ody didn't vigilante justice him (which is a canon reason for the initial storm Athena sends, though the trigger to her rage is different)

Recall, too, that what formally screws over Odysseus after all this is his mockery of Polyphemus. But you'll be separated from him by then because this is isn't about him hahaha
Mar 27, 2023 2:01 am
Yes, and regarding Polites/Priam, I have Achilles as a bit younger here, and that man is his son. Also some of that man's war acts cross my boundaries, so I'm quite happy to write him out.

As chaotic as it is, I am enjoying the subversions. I hope you guys are, too.
Mar 27, 2023 2:05 am
I mean, we've gone WAY off Homer's rails, but I started doing that in Character Creation
Mar 27, 2023 3:37 am
Very much enjoying it. Like you said, this is our story, and like all good oral tradition, whose to say Homer's version is the right one? ;)
Mar 27, 2023 4:27 pm
All right, I have said it before, thus I will warn y'all again.

The penalties of hubris are a major theme, especially in the Illiad and Odyssey.

PC's are not exempt from this.

Mar 27, 2023 5:12 pm
If anyone is curious, that's Pre-Attic (Phoenician alphabet) Greek. It just says "Bvar, Bvar, Bvar". It's the origin of the word "barbarian", because people who don't speak Greek just walk around going "Bvar Bvar Bvar" at each other.
Mar 27, 2023 5:30 pm
I thought so! XD

So, I goofed. It seems the Palladium may have been the statue Cassandra clung to, but there are also stories implying it was hidden, so I like the idea of it being a carved plaque sort of thing higher in the temple.

No worries. Unless his name comes up, I'm going to just have Kouru packing the temple and working his healing mojo on himself until otherwise notified.
Mar 30, 2023 9:25 pm
Hey, all!

Holy Week starts Sunday (and we're cleaning the church Saturday), so I'll be around, but not as much. Just giving you a heads up!
Mar 31, 2023 3:23 pm
Full disclosure, I don't actually know if it's proper for invaders to eat sacrificial meat prematurely offered by the conquered nation.
Mar 31, 2023 8:49 pm
The gods didn't care enough to save the Trojans, one would think the gods of war would understand to the victor go the spoils.

That and temples exist to feed the hungry that is their express purpose throughout all history and even the modern world.
Mar 31, 2023 9:26 pm
I imagine the clerics would have had time to divvy the proper portions to the gods first, too.
Mar 31, 2023 9:27 pm
What is this "I imagine." I'm the GM. Yes, the gods got their share. Nobody's gonna get smote for eating free meat.
Apr 1, 2023 12:53 am
Is Nikias seeing the temple in this state for the first time as he arrives? Is he just walking into this blasphemy?
Apr 1, 2023 1:08 am
Yep! Helen was still in the lower city. I imagine Kouru is handling his area respectfully, but there comes a point where he's just a soldier and it's a big temple.

Apr 7, 2023 1:09 pm
And now, the most important question of the game - are y'all socially awkward enough to stay on the same ship? :P
Apr 7, 2023 4:30 pm
You bet!
Apr 7, 2023 7:40 pm
Due to a number of discussions and the realization of differing playstyles, Joms/Tiwaz is no longer in the game.

There are now 3 party members. How do we feel about that?
Apr 7, 2023 7:52 pm
Happy to try and moving on with 3. Especially as we are picking up friends along the way :P

@I'mYeoDaddy Just confirming who Kuru is speaking too, as realised a name is not said and didn't want to assume its Ianthe in case I've somehow missed another warrior woman. Having a bit of a brain moment. :P

I'm ok with 3 as well, with the option to bring in new folks later if needed.

Yup, he's talking to your character. I don't know if we've established in Canon that we've all actually met prior to this.

And I'm fine with 3.
Apr 10, 2023 12:18 am
<.< >.> it was the gods... or a concussion
Apr 16, 2023 5:59 pm
A meta question because I can justify it either way: Do you want the seer twins with you or not? Plus side, dedicated healer (if you can get back to the ship). Down side, more named NPCs and I'm not sure if you vibe with that.
Apr 16, 2023 6:04 pm
Meta wise, I'd like the twins with us. I like the characters so far and as long as we keep them around, that healing could be handy.
Apr 16, 2023 8:39 pm
I never mind NPCs, as long as you are happy to control them.
Apr 19, 2023 2:48 am
Both my character and I are in agreement, we'd prefer them not be on the other ship with their parents.
Apr 19, 2023 3:03 am
For anyone wishing to sing along, the song is "Through the Storm" by Alcaeus of Lesbos.

I fail to understand the direction of the winds:
one wave rolls in from this side,
another from that, and we in the middle
are carried along in company with our black ship,

much distressed in the great storm.
The bilge-water covers the masthold;
all the sail lets the light through now,
and there are great rents in it
Apr 29, 2023 4:50 am
Well, that's two of us with extremely high rolls. We're one roll away from the party straight up just mooning Apollo.
Apr 29, 2023 5:16 am
lol that's too funny. We'll be a ship full of believers.
Apr 29, 2023 12:39 pm
It certainly makes my job easier haha

Though I don't recommend mooning Apollo for a couple more levels. He does use ranged attacks :p
Apr 30, 2023 2:50 pm
LOM, why roll twice? This isn't a skill check, so it doesn't matter if you're trained or not.

I'll let you choose which roll you get, and which one goes to Chryseis, how's that? Sow some chaos of your choice haha
Apr 30, 2023 2:58 pm
Pure accident. I hadn't even noticed till you pointed out. My phone sometimes accidentally posts twice.

While normally I would take whichever if first, whether in favour or not, I find the 0 very amusing of the other is going to Chryseis.
Apr 30, 2023 8:03 pm
Fascinating- I have doubled posts too but I never noticed the dice thing.

I'll roll separately then. No need involving the gods over a glitch.
Apr 30, 2023 8:53 pm
Yeah as different incidents of the post different rolls. I don't always notice as when checking roll go to the last post - hence my comment on the the nat 1 not realising the earlier one :P. Much easier on phone.

Interesting narratives for either. The three of us, the only three able to believe Cassandra.. and then just Iantha being first in her ways/rushing in head first she doesn't stop to consider things that aren't face value.
May 6, 2023 3:13 pm
I will post tonight when I have access to my maps. You did find something.
May 9, 2023 6:11 pm
Do you guys want me to link a map? It'd take a little to set one up, but I'm fine with that.
May 9, 2023 6:22 pm
Whatever is best for you. I can always swap out escape route later if theatre of the mind is easier for others :P.
May 9, 2023 7:02 pm
I'll set something up, but we're having guests tonight. Short term, "escape route" works fine. The sea monster is only 10 feet long, so that covers a good range.
May 9, 2023 8:57 pm
All right, having looked it up, a ship is too big for the scale of the people to make any sense. But, it is narrow enough that 30 feet isn't a big deal. I'll provide maps for less environmental situations.

I maybe have had the best rolls in this game over all my other games since joining GP lol I think he's critted 3 times now and we're only getting started!
May 13, 2023 10:33 am
If only you rolled the 19 and I rolled the 20 we both would have got one :P

I got excited briefly as I have another longspear build who does have improved crit, then realised that noope, gotta get a 20 for Iantha.
May 13, 2023 12:50 pm
I'm gonna have to make a list of deity involvement so I don't lose track hahaha

This is way better than the 5e game I'm in where the zombies keep rolling fantastic and we keep sucking XD
May 13, 2023 12:54 pm
Oh I was in an Irl game on Monday. The DM and his partner (Also in game) and had a real bad game and he was 9joking) that he was going to kill someone in game. Especially as we were coming up on a boss fight.

Our characters then preceded to crit 4/5 times, and he crit failed on my spell (pf 2e) so the combat was over in like 30minutes/hour and a couple of rounds, to everyone's amusement.

Sometimes crit happens :P

Another game. . my character died in a random encounter we should have breezed through because our dice would not roll above a 5 (She got better)
May 13, 2023 1:05 pm
She got better. Heh.

Man, fast boss battles. I did that to myself in college. There was a plot MacGuffin to help defeat Vecna. The PC's got a hold of it almost immediately XD
May 13, 2023 1:14 pm
We're level 18. The others did have to run away, regroup and go back to get the body a (and soul, it had nicked her soul for a little bit), and the second fight went like the first one should have. But yeah the revival cost was negligible at that point :P.

Once had this boss battle planned. As a set piece the bad guy was going to monologue, then grab an artefact and transformed... he got held person mid monologue.. and then a player (my partner no less) touched the artefact. Cue rapid thinking over the week what would happen..

Nit even the first time a boss has been interrupted in a monologue.. my players don't respect monologues it seems :P;
May 15, 2023 2:57 am
Man, level 18 in 2e? That's WORK.
May 16, 2023 4:14 pm
Go ahead and take level 6! Remember you already got your loot when you left Troy, and for the purposes of automatic bonus progression you're effectively level 8.

May 31, 2023 3:21 pm
Quick check-in! I realize I intended this to be a lot more tongue-in-cheek, but it's turned into a bit more of a standard adventure vibe. Is that OK?
May 31, 2023 9:23 pm
I'm a-okay with the tone of the game so far, having a good time! I can of course adjust if others prefer to steer that a different way :)
May 31, 2023 10:19 pm
No objections.
Jun 2, 2023 10:40 am
All's good for me
Jun 4, 2023 1:40 am
Coolio. Thanks for the feedback.

For the sake of clarification, Kouru rolled well enough that all of you can see the little girl now. He was able to point her out.
Jun 6, 2023 5:18 am
... by any slim chance, does my character *recognize* the Creepy Little Girl?
Jun 6, 2023 12:35 pm
Nothing really stands out.

For reference, an imperial eagle and a chicken with laced feathers

... and there you have it, the two ways to react to meeting gods.
Jun 7, 2023 4:56 pm
Oh, there are more hahaha

Both of these seem to stem from appropriate "fear of god"

Waiting for Iantha, of course. I am enjoying the juxtaposition between "old enough to be sick of this nonsense" and "old enough to know the "kid's" got this
Jun 9, 2023 6:38 pm
Not gonna lie, I'm a fan of when Kouru has to stand up from his rocker and get off the porch.
Jun 24, 2023 4:09 pm
Thanks for running with that RP, guys. That was really cool.

Again, each item is worth 750gp
Jun 24, 2023 4:21 pm
No worries! I see Iantha as quiet brave but with low wis and will is going to be susceptible to fear affects, so will likely be running with it like I did there as more.. being overwhelmed with possibilities and uncertainty on her next move.

Also i love these effects! Can definitely see keep watch being useful, would never have considered myself making it an item.
Jun 24, 2023 6:06 pm
A buddy in a discord game casts it on a couple party members every night. I'd never heard of it before then!
Jun 24, 2023 6:18 pm
Its a nice spell. I've had a character who used to use it religiously even when resting in a very safe place, like their acquired castle.. Because she would get nightmares from previous trauma so opted to stay awake and be protective instead. That was an interesting character discussion
Jul 13, 2023 1:54 am
Just tried to log on, apparently this game is no longer active. Is there a glitch, or did something happen?
Jul 13, 2023 3:11 am
????????

I'll check the settings. I was wondering why posting slowed down so much. But us being able to post in the forums is a good sign.

A game can still be open even if its forum isn't featured on your front page.
Jul 13, 2023 3:14 am
My suspicion is we've been quiet long enough that it's just not featured in the "latest game posts" column on the front page.

With that in mind, is there anything y'all would like from me to get us moving along? I do still need a survival or sailor roll from everyone.
Jul 14, 2023 3:18 am
I'm good :) I have lots of games going so I've just been patiently waiting. Looks we're just missing one roll, yeah? I'm sure @LightOfMidnight just needed a bump (she's afflicted with many games, as I am lol)
Jul 14, 2023 9:59 am
Apologie. Go so irl stuff going on atm, plus it's nearing end of school year so school in getti g hectic so I'm losing track of things rn.

School finishes next Wednesday so hopefully be pbe a le to sort out stuff then.
Jul 14, 2023 12:38 pm
Good luck with the end of the school year, LOM!
Jul 15, 2023 12:15 am
Yes, best of luck! I'm sure it'll feel very relieving when you can step back for a little while and breathe.
Jul 15, 2023 1:01 am
I will post an update, but there's no pressure at all to reply at any timeframe. It's just early enough that I didn't have a vibe for group expectations yet.

Honestly, I'm 4 years into a game that sometimes goes dark for a couple weeks at a time. But dang skippy it looks like we're gonna finish the thing, which is super exciting. It's had better stamina than the games that posted multiple times a day.
Jul 15, 2023 8:23 pm
I find that sometimes is the case, and I think much of that comes from player/DM makeup, but also a sense of not feeling rushed or that your letting people down by missing a post. I'm good with our speed, personally. Really enjoying this game so far.

Sorry for the delay, gang. Things have been chaotic here.
Aug 15, 2023 8:24 am
All good, still here!
Aug 24, 2023 12:34 pm
Hi, all! I hope the summer is going well. Just FYI our second is due in less than 2 weeks. So I am still here! Just a bit scattered haha
Sep 15, 2023 4:28 pm
Baby is here, her brother adores her, and it's only a little more chaotic than before! I'll try to get a post up this evening.
Sep 16, 2023 12:27 am
All good, and CONGRATS!!! That's wonderful to hear :D

Also, LOL to 'only a little more chaotic'

I have 2, I know how it goes.
Sep 25, 2023 2:38 am
Okie dokie, folks. Thanks for your patience! Toddler adores Baby, and Baby sleeps a lot, so we're hitting a groove.

Do you guys want to jump forward into the hook for this chapter, or get back to the PC conversation that was started?
Sep 25, 2023 7:03 am
Let's move to the hook to build some momentum, when you're ready.
Oct 7, 2023 1:41 am
Sorry for my absence, folks! I got a new job working travel hospice, and they made me essentially a lead my first week on the job. I'll try and make sure that I'm back and regular!
Oct 7, 2023 7:53 am
No rush!

Just for reference, that word is roughly "Bugger".

Can we all take a moment to appreciate that autocorrect made "Achilles" into "A Hole?" It's not inaccurate.
Nov 30, 2023 9:39 am
Love it lol
Nov 30, 2023 11:14 am
Whoops. I hadn't even noticed!
Dec 4, 2023 2:38 am
I was confused, as there are several in the story
Dec 4, 2023 4:18 am
I was talking with Yeo OOC the other day and came to the amusing realization that despite some wild deviations from canon, they've happened in just the right combination that, so far, several major story beats still get to happen.

I'm loving it.
Dec 4, 2023 5:04 am
Is the goal here to roughly approximate similar obstacles and events as the original Oddysey? Whatever the case, I certainly am enjoying it!
Dec 4, 2023 4:58 pm
It started that way, but now I'm just kinda seeing what happens. You guys chose to help Stelios, for instance, taking you a little off course. So I check the map, see what fun encounters are nearby, and go from there. You might make it back to Ithaca or at least Sparta in a reasonable amount of time.

Glad you're enjoying it!
Dec 5, 2023 5:43 am
The research whiplash has been a thing. On one hand there's "Oh hey, here's a map of the currents of the Greek Seas, and they match up with some of the routes mentioned!" and on the other hand there's "Oh... Sparta was *absolutely* a Lawful Evil society... shit"
Dec 5, 2023 4:32 pm
So, the oracle mechanic includes a possible godly intervention every time a divine spell is cast. Attacks of opportunity, weird magic effects, etc. This really only works in combat, so crits get little flashes - an image and a couple words. Side effects depend on whether it was a 20 or a 1.
Dec 6, 2023 3:55 pm
OOC:
Themis, the goddess of Justice, Order, Law, and Custom. Also the goddess of the Oracle at Delphi. When she is ignored, such as in the breaking of social custom, her wrathful sister Nemesis brings retribution, especially in acts of kinslaying. The two were known to share temples.

Hi, all! Life's a bit wild around Christmas time and considering how many different groups have something this time of year, I imagine I'm not the only one. Rest assured I plan to continue if y'all want! Please include a navigation-related roll of your choice whenever you post next. I hope y'all are well!
Dec 24, 2023 12:54 am
Sounds good to me! Happy holidays to all who are celebrating something around now :D
Jan 12, 2024 3:00 pm
Thank you for your patience, everyone! Between the littles and the busy season at church, I appreciate it.

Are you guys opposed to a college friend of mine joining us? She wants to learn to play, and I figured a casual game, in a setting she was loosely familiar with, that has a small group, could be a good start. My thought is that she takes over a crew member or even Chryseis, if you (especially LOM) are cool with that.
Jan 12, 2024 5:11 pm
I'm cool with it, including if she does nab Chryseis.
Jan 12, 2024 8:26 pm
Sounds good to me!

Sorry, sorry, I did NOT pick up the context.

Quick note: I will NOT be around this weekend, I'm off doing Emergency Services training and repeating "I am not too old for this" over and over in my head.
Mar 3, 2024 3:07 am
OOOOOOOOKAY

Posted.

Thank you so much. I'll spare you all the details but dang skippy the past few weeks have been a sprint. We're all fine! It was just more than a bit chaotic.

aaaand that is why plate armor was invented :D Even though, it couldn't feel good getting hit by one of those things, even if it didn't puncture your helmet/armor.

I saw a fella get hit in the plates from quite a distance, knocked him flat on his back and knocked him out. He lived, but he had the biggest bruise I've ever seen.
Mar 27, 2024 12:30 am
Oh I definitely believe that. In what circumstance did that happen? :| They're lucky to still be alive lol

We were visiting a little outpost in northern Iraq, the guy was supposed to be pulling security so they could open the gate and let our convoy out. He was just standing there billy farting around and got got. We obviously did not get to go out.

Lav, can K make a religion check to see if any of those names or descriptions ring any bells?
Apr 1, 2024 11:42 am
Yes
Jun 7, 2024 2:54 pm
I've updated the meta notes. If there are any "ranking" NPC's on the ship, please let me know. I've had Sinon, Mikros, and Kallon as a default, but you guys can contribute to that.
Jul 11, 2024 12:53 am
Hey, all! I wanted to check in. I don't mind a slow game! But I do want to keep folks at least loosely engaged. Maybe a post a week? That said, would you like to pick up where I left off (choosing a tour of the city or some free time), or would you like me to time skip a touch and put all of you on the tour?
Jul 29, 2024 2:16 pm
Hey, all, I'm thinking this isn't going anywhere. I've really enjoyed the story and hope to see you all again! If anyone does post, I'll reply, but I'm not going to check in regularly.

Thank you all!
