Chapter 1: The Fall of Troy

Kouru was a soldier, born, raised, trained, and battle hardened. He trusted his superiors to care for their duty, just as he knew they trusted him to do his. Frankly, after Odysseus had declared support for his claim, the matter was closed. His concentration was on the gathering of the priests and servants, and of course preparing for the temple to be packed: it was now Spartan, and would be packed, transported, and loaded with Spartan efficiency. And then... the Hittite jumped up on the roof, and cast down a woode- "There's no way that's what I think it is" reaching out to try and catch the idol, he'd of course collapse to one knee, helplessly watching as Athena's blessing bounced on the floor.
OOC:
Does it break, or become damaged?
Raising his head the scout would glare up after the mercenary, growling under his breath "Hittites. Bloody barbarians, every single one of them. '๐ค“๐ค€๐ค, ๐ค“๐ค€๐ค, ๐ค“๐ค€๐ค, Look at me try and rob the spartan, then throw a temper tantrum and desecrate a temple, ๐ค“๐ค€๐ค ,๐ค“๐ค€๐ค ,๐ค“๐ค€๐ค.'"

OOC:
Ah! Sorry Nikias. The hit does land, but the bull rush of 22 doesn't overcome his CMD.
Mar 27, 2023 5:15 pm
Iantha grits her teeth as his attack lands but she otherwise does not falter. 'So be it. She steps and thrusts forward with her spear, her focus solely on her challenge to Agamemnon.
OOC:
She takes a -2 to AC due to her challenge, so its unlikely she is immediately aware of Helen either.

OOC:
The Temple
The Palladium is a hefty slab of wood. On it is carved an image of Athena, a sword in one hand, and weaving supplies in the other, showcasing the duality of the virgin goddess. Praise the gods it does not shatter when it falls, but it does crack partway through, visually separating her peacetime tools from her.

Tiwaz howled in pain as the Serpent coiled breaking several of his ribs and pulling his shoulders from their sockets. He could breathe yet, but only barely.

"Who am I..." Coughing blood interrupted him as the death coil tightened. "... to recieve such a blessing frim Athena's aspect. I am listening." In spite of the pain Tiwaz continued his struggle. He wouldn't even submit to a goddess, she would have to kill him or afford him the right of his struggle. "She who love heroes has my full and undivided attention." He said hoisting the coil of the enormous snake between its own mouth and himself.

It's 21 if you're attempting to escape the grapple. You'd use CMB, which I believe is 9 for you.

"You attempt to shame me, oh king, but how great my shame were I to break Odysseus's oath. You threaten now to slay me when I only stood to bar your way. Perhaps then, it is you, mighty Agamemnon, who should consider the meaning of shame." Nikias repositions his sword in his hand and studies his target. "Once more, I ask, to let Helen go so that she may pass."
OOC:
Using 'Studied Target' to gain +2 to "Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it."

Agamemnon

Nikias, are you trying to intimidate, use diplomacy, or stall? Iantha provides advantage.
The Amazonian's spear strikes true, and the king stops, startled that the woman was able to land a hit on him. This forces him to take pause and hear Nikias's words.
OOC:
SNEK
The coils loosen and Tiwaz is left in a sort of hammock position among the snake's scales. A voice echoes in his mind.

Fangs and venom, coils and scent. Which most defines the serpent?
Mar 28, 2023 5:31 am
Tiwaz reasoned the question. "Even humans have fangs. And a spider is oft more venomous than a snake."

"Scent. Numerous creatures possess fangs, and venoms. Eels and worms coil. But nothing uses scent alike a snake."

OOC:
SNEK
A wise choice, Son of Woe. Knowledge guides battle. Yet what good is scent without the body to actualize? And what good is the body without scent to guide?

All of a sudden you realize you're sitting on the ground, and the normal sounds of the fallen city fill your ears again.
OOC:
Agamemnon
The king's face falls, and he lowers his blade.

I am tired, son of Ithaca. And perhaps more worn than I thought.

He steps past you without protest and leaves you in the alleyway with Helen.

I have no idea what sort of debt you're expecting, but I suppose I owe it.

She seems particularly impressed with Nikias' words and Iantha's bladework. But if you didn't notice the spectral interloper before, you do now.

Nikias' vision of Horkus has faded, but the woman holding Helen's bonds raises an eyebrow.
Mar 28, 2023 3:25 pm
As the King backs down a long of annoyance crosses Iantha's face. She had been geared to fight him, to prove her might and point through her spear.

Still it was probably a good thing she was not killing a King, and it seemed to be Nikias's wish he wve allowed to leave so she let's home pass, moving to free Helen... Before immeadiatly lowering her spear seeing the situation she was in.

'Who are you? Release her'
Mar 29, 2023 1:02 pm
I am the protector of marriage and a scorned woman myself. I suppose you would not understand, Amazonian.
Mar 29, 2023 1:06 pm
Helen appears startled, for once. Of course, there are those who say she's a daughter of Zeus. The woman continues.

I have simply been curious to watch you proceed. You three are adamant this woman twice-wed is to live as a maiden. But what now? She is no soldier and your kin have the city in ruins.
Mar 29, 2023 5:32 pm
Nikias relaxes as Agamemnon relents and leaves them with Helen. He feels relief wash over him - he had not struck out this battle to fight his own - a king no less - and woe to his fate, had this encounter gone differently. But then there was her, the figure before them, holding onto Helen's bonds.

"I seek no debt, or repayment of such. My actions were for my king, Oddyseus, though this you may have gathered. Still, remember me with kindness, if you may. The time may come when my fate rests in your hands." He nods to Helen in understanding, then looks beyond, to the other figure.

"Please, wise and mighty one, release this woman from her binds. Let her decide her fate, rather than choose for her."

He looks again to Helen, "Lady - Odysseus said he would not stop you, but you see the sad state of your city. What would you do now?"

Helen smiles gently at having finally been directly addressed. I've been collecting. Nothing that would hurt the civilians. Scraps of dried food, drops of wine and oil. Old cloth and broken jewelry. My hiding place is nearby. I thought I might travel southwest. More or less. If I follow the sea along its coast I should never be too far from people, from resources. In a few months I should reach Egypt. I've heard how lovely the detla is.

She chuckles and rubs the back of her neck. To be honest, I didn't think I'd get this far.

You realize the goddess is gone, and Helen is unbound.
