Unless Baz says otherwise, I'd suggest something like this Kerosene lantern

Alright. As I said over in the OOC thread, I'm thinking that we may want at least one candle lit while we search for a fresh air source. If there's any draft, an open flame will react to it.Apr 10, 2023 9:03 pm
Standing up and looking around, and remembering the news reports of Carter, mumbles in fascination.
"Yes, wonderful things."
He quickly kneels by tunnel and calls thru to the others.
"The tunnel is being safe, but only one by one be coming now, please."
He’ll keep the candle in front of the tunnel exit so the others will have some light as they crawl thru.
Every so often he glances back around at the room.

"What do you see?" the Lord Lyttelton asked, a definite hint of excitement in his voice. Presently, Richard began to crawl through the cramped passage despite the limited light level. Despite their current predicament, the aristocratic financier was still quite thrilled to be where he was , exploring an ancient Egyptian mausoleum.

One by one you crawl through the hole and into a room filled to the brim with stacks of treasures that reach almost to the ceiling; a couch, chairs, tables, stone tablets, statuettes, musical instruments, tapestries, vases, sealed jars, bowls, ostrich-feather fans, and chests. There is a chariot made of gold standing in the northwest corner of the room along with a rowboat.
To the east, a huge stone slab blocks an archway to what is probably another chamber. On either side of the slab, two large statues seem to stand guard. Across the room to the north, an open archway leads to another room. It is evident there was once a plaster wall sealing that archway, that has been completely demolished and bits of it lie scattered on the floor around the entrance.

Based on the map, are we meant to believe that the antechamber is what's on the other side of the warded doorway?Apr 11, 2023 12:37 am

Dardan stays by the tunnel exit, helping each member of the team thru with a supportive hand and candle light. He leaves the work of searching the new room to the others.

Baz’s lantern casts shadows that tell the story a man stupefied by what he is seeing. While feet are anchored at Dardan’s side the lantern slowly spins as he turns in a circle to take in the room and it’s glorious contents.
A whole army of academics could rest their careers on this here room alone, I can rest my career on this room alone! I gotta live through this, I hafta live
I…uhhh I mean to see what these walls have to say fellas, if y’all don’t mind I’m gonna see what’s what.
Peeking around items Baz is looking for more info on ways out and evidence of the looters as well, careful to not disturb the artifacts themselves. The distraction of trying to bring the light to others as called on pulls his attention this way and that, in the end leaving him to his focus on the walls more than specific clues of an escape.

Arthur is transfixed by the artefacts surrounding them. He tries to scribble a list of items on his pad, as he discovers them in the dim.light of the treasure chamber.
"Lord Richard! This discovery is on a par, if not superior, to Carter's exploits from last year! We must find a way back to the surface, not only for our own survival, but for humanity at large to know about this extraordinary find!"
He starts looking for anything that might be useful to escape the underground Chambers. Maybe the looters have left a shovel, pickaxe or other tool?

"So do you guys know what Pharaoh we're dealing with yet?" Alistair asks examining any Hieroglyphs he can find on objects, after all it's small bits of writing he'd be putting in his book not long boring stories about dead pharaohs.

Baz studies the walls but sees nothing sinificant in the hieroglphs. His focus does fall on the two 'guards' and as he shines the lantern light you see that they are actually mummified men impaled on long spears to hold them upright. As if it wasn't gruesome enough, their heads have been replaced, one with that of a crocodile and the other with that of a jackal.
OOC:
Can everyone make Sanity (0/1) checks on seeing these.Apr 11, 2023 1:13 pm
Upon seeing the impaled guards Baz shivers and declares "It was a tough time back then" his voice cracking towards the end and the lantern shaking in hand.

Once everyone is thru Dardan gets to work looking for anything that can be used as a tool, and also and suggestion of fresh air flows around the rooms perimeter.
