As Baz translates the last words, everyone hears a scraping sound, stone against stone followed by a loud clang that echoes through the tunnels. The lamp flickers and Baz shakes it, the fuel is almost spent.

"What! What was that?" Dardan asks nervously of no one in particular. He grips the axe tighter, fear clearly showing in his expression.

So Sacha never made it out, but got sealed inside with whatever is about to hunt us. Something with sharp teeth that likes to crush its prey.

Hearing the translated pages, he comments bitterly, "They've been sealed inside by the workers... Just like us."

He then turns towards the direction of the sound.
OOC:
can they determine the general direction it came from?

Richard Joseph Lyttelton III had been intently listening to Baz's aural translation of the found journal while he casually placed the trowel and stick of dynamite within his satchel. He found some of the claims perhaps a bit too fantastical, and was leaning towards dismissing the content of the final entry when the relative silence, save his own shallow breaths, was suddenly broken by a series of clamorous sounds. With a practiced movement, Lord Lyttelton removed his handgun from its holster. "Stay calm, men - but bring any arms to the ready." the expedition leader said, coolly.

The noise came from behind the slab in the antechamber

In a panicked whisper, he says, "It came from behind the slab, in the antechamber! I hear steps now!"

He reaches for the nearest blunt object - even a sturdy rib from the skeleton if needed!

Lyttleton, the dynamite! Can we pop that front door with it? Will that be enough! We need Dardan! Baz Takes the lantern to the doorway but posts up with his back to the wall. If thats them workers come to finish us off then at tleast there is an exit.Otherwise I might end up a Holler Miner yet.

OOC:
Note in terms of light, Baz has the failing lantern and Dardan the lit candle. Anyone moving away from them will be in darkness
Apr 14, 2023 2:52 pm
Dardan lets out a shout of alarm, "The slab! It's...! It's moving! It's opening!"

Consumed by fear Dardan retreats back towards the others, holding the candle in front of him, and clutching the battle axe in his other hand.
OOC:
@Knifesedgegames: From the image I am guessing the slab has moved into the chamber. But what are the guardians on either side doing?
Apr 14, 2023 4:16 pm
OOC:
The slab is indeed about to move any second now, but the 'guards' remain stationary

OOC:
I hate to abandon the tomb without further exploration, but self-preservation wins out. Would there be enough time to run to the entrance and blow the door without encountering whoever is about to pay us a visit?

OOC:
You could certainly try :)

"Alright, we're getting out of here." Lord Lyttelton said as he rapidly moved back to the antechamber. He paused only long enough to locate the engineer and guide him by an arm towards the passage that led to the entrance, adding, "We found a single stick of dynamite, but we need you to properly place the explosive so we don't bring the ceiling down upon ourselves."
