All that aside, though very entertaining and interesting. Our path is set and will be followed, we will rid this land of banditry. Then the rest Calistria willing will follow with hard work and patience.

As the dinner conversations descends into a argument over the effectivity of large monster mounts a light winter drizzle starts, quickly ending the dinner.
Thorn River Bandits
• The bandits harassing the tradepost have a camp somewhere in a the Thorn River to the south of here
• There are about 14 of them, including there leader Kessle, and their 2nd in Command, Happs
• Both Kessle and Happs are jerks, Kessle is described as clever and ambition. Happs will be described as cocky, smug, and overconfident
• At the first trip, Kessle stole the Svalana's wedding ring ... she would be grateful if she could get it back
• Happs & about 1/2 half the bandits typically make the "tax collection" trip, this has been going on 6 months
• "Taxes" are due on the 1st, you should have 1 day to prepare.
Stag Lord
• He has a fortress to the south, rumors say its near the Tuskwater lake
• From the fortress, he rules his own little bandit kingdom
• He always wears a stag scull as helmet, complete with antlers.
• He is also rumored to be a crack shot

Unfortunately the Levetons are traders and not skilled in the arts of war. They do know the bandits camp along the Thorn river, a day or two from the trading posts. There is about a 1/2 a day travel of open field/light forests before reaching the dense forests or craggy hills of the greenbelt.

Hmm it may be useful to use our familiars to spy on the bandits and determine when it is best to strike each one as they are spread out. This way we can use stealth to take them out individually as they load the stolen goods with minimal risk to the lives of innocents.

Though I think our real plan should be to use stealth to take them out on their way in on the road to the trading post just in case there is a spy here that will betray us. I will communicatethis to party members in secret when we are alone asapLast edited February 10, 2024 6:11 am

Wonderful idea, Silene. It will be so much easier treat desperate soul at a time.

The trading post's bunk is clean and cozy. The rain does reveal a leak in the old roof. The night falls leaving the party alone to their thought.

Once we are done with the bandits I will fix the leak for us with the mending spell. We can be useful here.

In the morning you will have some time to prepare.
(probably, the Levetons did insist that the bandits have been coming on the 1st of the month routinely the past 4 times)
Jen mentioned ambush on the way in. For that you would need some scouting. With 4 riding horse you can cover lots of ground.
Glen mentioned create a fat target. You have carts and cargo from the trading post that you could fashion into something.
I am going to suggest some preparation activities.
• Scouting, time: ~4 hours, roll: Survival, Lore; eg warcraft, or Stealth. Double range on horse back
• Craft Deception, time: ~4 hours, roll: Deception, Crafting, or Lore: eg Merchant
• Watch, time: 4 hours/shift, roll: Perception
• Gather Information, time: 0.5 hours, roll: Perception, Diplomacy, warcraft, etc
Also, you have 4 NPC that can be directed.

Personally, prefer the idea of drawing them in, murdering them quietly and leaving a mystery for the remaining bandits. Any we capture can be interrogated. Out in the field it may be too easy for them to flee. Running them down may leave us spread out as well.
