Attributes:
• Physique
• Agility
• Intellect
• Willpower
Roll 2d6+3 to generate each of the four stats.
In-game, you roll against your attribute score on a d20, aiming to meet it or roll under. So a Physique of 12 would have you aiming to roll anything from 1-12 on a d20 to succeed.
Concept:
This isn’t so much what you are, but rather who you are. It will be used to determine some skills you might have. It will also feature when we deal with things like advantage, disadvantage and setbacks.
• Meddlesome Kid
• Alcoholic Detective
• Retired Veteran
• Suspicious ER Nurse
Archetype:
• The Tough
• The Nimble
• The Smart
• The Gifted
Ones I’m not 100% on, but I do have access to:
• The Magi
• The Spirit Guardian
This is what you are. Each archetype has a prime attribute, a recovery roll and some special abilities.
Complications:
The next step is creating an interesting Complication for the character. Everyone has one, something that makes their life more difficult and exciting.
• Hunted by the police
• Has duties to a religious order
• Enemies with a former master
Equipment:
Players can start with any and all mundane equipment that makes sense for their character concept and archetype.
Each character also starts the game with one weird item.
Pay attention to encumbrance: In game terms, each character has an Encumbrance limit equal to their Physique score.
Final Details:
• Vitality - Same as Physique stat + 1point per level of character.
• Sanity - Same as Intellect stat.
• Luck - All characters start the game with 3 points of Luck.
• Money - Money is abstracted in this game. Players start with 2 Money, meaning their usually down on their luck and looking for a big score.
