Xavier expects the kick again. Vampires may have super strength and speed, but that doesn't make them any better at fighting technique than a normal human. Finding opportunities to strike would be easy. Bypassing her speed and strength would be the challenge. Xavier sidesteps the kick and strikes out again with the stake.

Fishing beneath his leather gambeson, Galaine brings out an object that is more than nine hundred years old -- a crucifix, silver, on a chain. The man wished he still wielded some of the weapons he'd collected in his home time, but this holy symbol and his poorly-forged modern sword would have to do.
"Creatures of the night! Stay back!" the man says, swiping at the air with his sword while holding the crucifix aloft in his other hand. He chops at his attacker, hoping to carve off some necrotized flesh...
Hoping the crucifix keeps them back and from attacking, or at least gives them a Negative Die.
Potential Damage is actually 5 due to this... Feel the Pain - No one strikes as hard as The Tough. All melee damage inflicted by the character is increased by 1 (so if the weapon’s normal damage is 1d6, The Tough would cause 1d6+1 points of damage when using that weapon).

Clearly seeing the cloaked-man and the well-dressed man stuck behind in the fight, Brydon huffs and shakes his head. "Ok, I guess I'm doing this." He pulls out his telescoping truncheon and hustles back across the street and into The Noose.

'Hey! don't leave me with those two!' Luci points to the two brawling on the street, as she scrabbles for her knife. She really needed to get Xav to locate her a gun.
Suddenly her head starts throbbing and blood starts dripping from her nose as her abilities react to panic.

Brydon, hearing the woman's request, stops in the road and turns on the two fighting in the street. He takes a deep breath. He didn't know much of what was happening, but the ones fighting with his would-be companions inside seemed to be on the opposite side of the one that's winning out here. "Hey there, guy," he said, "think maybe those other hoodlums might need some of that attention?"
He requires his truncheon in case the man turns his attention on Brydon instead.

"Sh… shit, girlie, are you alright? Let’s get out of here!"
His voice is stronger now, though edged with fear. He starts pawing the door of the van, trying to climb in.
The vampire continues to pummel his attacker into the ground, even as Brydon sidles up and offers his suggestion. Heavy fists ram downwards, and you can hear bone breaking beneath them. Brydon winces as a tooth flicks up, hitting the front of his jacket, and leaving a tiny spattering of blood. Looking at his feet, he sees the tiny, white fang, barely sharp.
If the man knew a hint more about the night world, he’d know that the losing vampire was freshly turned.
The victor grunts with satisfaction, before looking up into the face of the old detective. Brydon meets his gaze, but he’s terribly aware that the challenger’s face is nothing more than a crater, and the lone vampire’s hands and forearms are sopping wet with blood.
"Afraid of some Romani youngbloods?" the vampire asks Brydon, before laughing unsettlingly.
Galaine pulls the crucifix, and presents it to his foe. A hand goes up to block the view of the holy symbol, while the other swipes out blindly at the knight.
Sword meats flesh, and the thing shrieks out in pain. It’s a terrible kind of sound; all twisted and unnatural. Angry, and yet impotent.
Or is it? Blindly, the thing stumbles forward, swiping in the direction of the knight! Its claws are still wicked, though it daren’t use them to full effect, for fear of the holy symbol’s power!
The knight as fought fiercer foes than this, however. It’s almost pitiful, to see this creature leaking blood and swatting carelessly against arms and armor.
OOC:
A negative dice for the holy symbol. It will attack you, and then you can attack it. It looks rough, as they say! ;)The female vampire, sensing the power of the holy symbol, wheels away, trying to put Xavier between herself and the knight.
"Enough!" she snarls, as she lines up the hit man. She drives her foot at the man for a third time, hoping to knock the hitman into the knight, giving her time to get away.
She slams the heel into Xavier, driving the wind out of him. Without taking the time to see where he lands, she turns for the window, and climbs through!
"Come!" she barks to the blinded creature.
OOC:
Negative Dice saves Galaine from a swipe. Xavier is not so lucky, and he takes a massive kick to the chest, for 5 damage!Players are up! Xavier is going at the same time as the enemy so he has some options still! Luci and Brydon see the female vampire break out into the street.

Brydon bends down and picks up the tooth, turning it over in his hand before standing straight again. "Afraid? Nah. Just thought you'd want more action - these punks were messing with you, right? Now they're messing with my friends. I don't know you from Adam, but enemy of my enemy, right? I, uh, don't think I'll smash them as well as you, but I'll try." He places the tooth in his pocket then heads inside, seeking the nearest of the punks and takes a swing with his truncheon.

Xavier flies through the air and crashes into the bar, scattering the last few upright stools like bowling pins. "Oof!" He isn't knocked out but he pretends to be for a moment to recover his breath and take quick stock of the situation.
May 23, 2023 10:29 am
The lone vampire sighs heavily, before saying:
"You bloodbags love to talk!" but then he nods, before continuing in that strange accent: "Yes. The enemy of my enemy…"
Steeling himself, Brydon approaches the window, as the female vampire hangs from it, barking a command to the one flailing about inside. She turns back to the street, barely having time to take in the scene outside and her dead partner, before Brydon is on her with his cudgel.
A heavy whack from the stick sends her spinning, head caving in above the eye. A thud, and then the breaking of glass beneath her as some of the window gives way. She twists away from blow, driven downward by the power of the detective.
A shard of broken glass, stubbornly clinging to its place in the window frame takes her through the chin, piercing the roof of her mouth, destroying behind her nose, bursting through her left eye, and then up into the youngblood’s brain.
A wet gurgling sound, something like surprise, escapes her lacerated throat before her eyes roll back and her body slumps dead.
Inside, the knight holds his holy symbol aloft, as he deftly sidesteps both the vampire and the hitman as he’s knocked back into an abandoned table. Glasses wobble, trying desperately to remain upright, before eventually giving in and falling sideways, spilling beer and liquor on Xavier’s jacket.
Seeing the small vampire go down to the detective’s blow, Galaine swings a heavy strike at the blinded vampire, departing its head from the rest of its body. He takes the hand attempting to block the power of the boldly symbol below the elbow with the strike, too. Both fall to the floor with a duo of wet thumps. It’s followed by a heavier thud, as the headless body falls to its knees, and then collapses onto its front in the middle of the ruined Hangman’s Noose.
Quiet descends on the bar…

'I' ll be a lot better when we are out of here. Right in you go.. ' She opens the doors and tries to get the man I side, even if it means getting him in first then the chair.
As she' s in the middle of trying to wrangle it in she looks up realising the noise of fighting has stopped.

Brydon sighs and steps over to the bar, walking over one of their attackers in doing so. "Sorry about the damage, pal," he says to the bartender, slipping him a $20-bill. He shrugs and turns to the other two men - "I think it best if we get the hell out of here."

Nose still trickling blood, Luci tips the wheelchair-bound man into the van, and starts to wrestle the chair in after him, when the street goes quiet. He kicks up his legs to avoid the metal contraption landing on top of him, and then stops still:
"Whats happening out there?" he says, groaning on the ground as he contorts himself to pull some junk out from underneath him.
The bartender, jaw on the floor as he takes in the scene, takes the $20 and slips it into his front pocket absent-mindedly:
"Ta, yeah."
You get the distinct impression that whatever you just said hasn’t registered.
"Wh… Wh… wh…" he starts up, asking a million questions at once, throwing his hand around the bar.
What was all that?…
What the hell were those?…
What the fuck?…
"Sorry about the mess!" the lone vampire says, as he climbs through the window. He stoops down, and pulls the top half of the female vampire’s head free from her body. He inspects the fangs, and then crosses to pick up the decapitated head that Galaine had freshly created; wincing with slight annoyance at his holy symbol.
"Lady Ventis will make this right." he reassures the bartender, who looks more than a little pale and shaky on his feet.
Who the fuck is that?…
"And you…" he waves the top half of the head at the three inside the bar, and then turns to shake it at Luci out on the street in greeting. "… we will be see you again soon."
He leaps out the window then; higher than what should be possible, and is gone.

Once everything has settled, Xavier says, "Ow." He pulls himself up off the floor and dusts himself off. Looking at his ruined clothes he sighs. "That fucking sucked. Any bottles not broken back there, bartender? A scotch if you can find one." He picks up an overturned bar stool and sits down after righting it.

"To go," Brydon says, turning the corner of his mouth up and raising his eyebrows at the man. "We should leave. You and your friends always find trouble like this?"
