Two: Blood

Brydon uses his tongue to dislodge a piece of pepperoni from his teeth while pondering Galaine's question. "No doubt. I wouldn't trust one bit, but I don't think we need to trust her much to act on her intel."

He turns to Martin, "You know anything about her? She seemed to know exactly where to find you, buddy. Do we have any reason to believe she was lyin' about the Romani family being opposed to her? As long as they 'aint friends, I say the intel's likely good. Or near enough to be worth the risk."

"You can thank your buddy over here for that. He probably reminds her of when she was a little girl." he responds with a snort, jerking his thumb to Galaine.

The power of a scent to bring memories to the fore.

"No offense. If you’re from when I think you’re from, you probably give off a different stink to the rest of us. Heck, she’s probably old enough to have been old back in your day."

The fact that Galaine was a man out of time didn’t seem to phase the man. Then again, when Elder Vampires were showing up at your front door, you didn’t tend to question things too much.

"They ain’t friends. But they ain’t exactly enemies neither. Not until tonight at least. Reckon every city’s got their own set up, but the three families run the show here.

A Vamp is a Vamp at the end of the day. They don’t like each other, but it’s them versus us."

Them versus Them versus Us…

Xavier nods along. "Sometimes when you get a job you have to do it even if your boss is a prick. Plus there's always the opportunity for a double cross," Xavier smiles indicating his hopes in this opportunity. "So what now?"
Jun 25, 2023 6:44 pm
"Not a double cross if we don't work for them," Brydon says, the hint of a grin passing over his normally dour face. "It's just prioritization, is all. We get Michelle out of there, cause some trouble for the Romani, but leave them standing. Then while they're keeping each other busy, we swoop in and take them all out. If we can."
Jun 25, 2023 9:23 pm
'..as long as we don't get to big for our breeches. There's 5 of us, on of who is useless in a fight. ' It looks like she is about point at martin but instead gestures at herself. 'I get it. Vampires bad. But having a family of vampires owe us can we useful in taking down someone else. I mean Michelle is the priority, but if you guys can get this guys fangs and out it puts us in the Ventus good books.. for a little bit.'

How are this worlds vamps at day time. Forced to sleep, forced in doors, or perfectly fine?

"The mayor," Galaine says with a nod and a briefly raised finger when Luci mentions taking down someone else. "We used to have to do the same thing in my order," he goes on, meaning the Order of the Third Christening. "Spare a witch to first find an ogre. Follow will-o-the-wisps to root out their evil faerie masters. And so on."

Of Martin, he asks, "Is there some way I can be rid of it? This stink?"
Jun 28, 2023 2:13 am
"You guys have a bone to pick with the mayor too?" Brydon asks. "Our interests are more aligned than I thought. This is gonna be fun."

"You might be nifty with a sword, but what you really want is some Axe. he snorts, clearly content with his quip. "I’ve got some around here somewhere. Spray that shit all over you, and the vamps might not smell you out so good. Don’t know if it’ll keep the weres off your ass though. One thing at a fucking time!"

Then, the man groans, as if he’s just been reminded of something:

"Those assholes will be having a field day with this. The Romani just dropped a nice juicy bone into their lap. Fucker."
Over the next few hours, Lucielle’s feed is full of video footage from attacks across the city. News Organizations run cover on the story; at the behest of City Hall, no doubt.

As the night draws on, the video evidence online blink out of existence one by one.

Sunrise is only a few hours away by now. Things will be scurrying to their burrows soon, and the sleeping citizens of Dark City will be rising from their beds, none the wiser of the story that was squashed overnight.
OOC:
You’ve been asked/tasked with cutting the head off the Romani snake. You’ve got a location.

Do we -

A) Want some slice of life stuff during the next day.
B) Want to keep the game hyper focused on the night and jump to ‘the plan’?

"Nay," Galaine says, not understanding the cologne reference. "I prefer the balance of a blade to an axe, at least when pitched against foes who are not heavily armored."
OOC:
Open to either!

The day had been wet; the rain washing away the bloody aftermath of last night’s skirmishes in the streets. The city had been on edge all day. No one said it, but you could feel it. Nothing could be proved, and yet the atmosphere was heavy and foreboding - not unlike the clouds gathering above as the sky begins to darken.

You sit in the car; pulled up a little ways away from the Dark City Gallery. You watch as people scurry from their office jobs into buses, taxis and cars as the darkness moves in over the course of an hour. No one wants to to be on the streets tonight, it seems.

From your vantage point down the street, you see the changing of the guard just outside the main entrance to the Gallery; an older man with salt and pepper hair clocks off, only to be replaced by a huge skinhead man almost twice his height. You watch as the first guard makes his farewell; and then hurries straight to his own car, and peels off into the gathering night.
OOC:
What’s the plan of attack? Office hours are another hour or so… but who goes out after dark in this city?

Going in the front, or around the back? You’re heading for the Caravaggio Exhibit. You’ll know the way underground when you see it.

Everyone give me a d6. On a six, we’ll make the night more complicated!

From behind the wheel of the van -- of his rolling domicile -- Galaine gestures at the building to the others. "The sun wanes, the hour grows late. Will we descend on this nest of vipers before dark, or wait until the vermin rise and reveal themselves?"

"We go now. Fighting fair is for chumps. You wait for the moment the enemy is the weakest and then strike. We should go in staggered to look less conspicuous." Xavier checks his weapons as the others get ready.

"Yeah, I like that," Brydon says. He checks his gear and prepares to exit the van. "So we gonna pretend to go in as artsy people? I'll try, but don't know if that's much my style. Still going in the front keeps us all relatively close."

"God fucking da…" Martin says, lurching forward between the front seats and pointing at a trio of vehicles approaching. Three large black jeeps, each of them identical, crawl down the street and come to a stop just beneath the steps that lead up to the gallery.

"It’s off. We don’t want to do this tonight." he groans, beating his fist against the head rest of the front passenger seat.

You watch as someone exits the front seat of the middle vehicle, and walks around to the curb-side rear door, pulling it open. At the same time, all the doors on the other vehicles open, and a group of identically dressed men file out. Wearing black suits, white shirts and headpieces, they each carry a weapon as they scan the street. Their eyes pass over the van, which causes Martin to duck.

It takes a moment for the figure in the backseat to climb the steps, and then you see him:

"The fucking Mayor. Called in by Romani, you can fucking bet."

You watch as the men all climb the steps in unison, to which the huge skinhead guard gives only the slightest of nods; only the very hint of respect for the Mayor and his position, to your eyes.

Brydon's lip curls at the sight of the man. "This sucks," he says, "I'm all for taking that fuck down, but I haven't the faintest clue what this means with the Romani mixed in. I don't like all the unknowns. Martin - I know we have a healthy dislike for the guy, but what do you know of the actual danger he represents here? It must be severe if it's enough to force a delay on getting Michelle free."

"Or, and here me out, this is the best thing that could've happened. Now that they are in the same place, we could get two birds with one stone. Well not a stone, explosives most likely, but you get my point. We could block the exits when they're all inside and burn the place down. We could rig the mayor's car with explosives. The possibilities are endless!" Xavier looks around to see if his plan was even halfway convincing anyone.
