Two: Blood

Galaine's eyes are wide and his hands are tight on the wheel when the mayor and his entourage appear.

"It's -- it's Maelgarus!" the man says urgently, tripping over his words, ignoring the others as he rapidly unbuckles his seat belt and prepares to jump from the van, sword drawn and blood boiling!
OOC:
Feel free to stop him, please! He -does not- like the mayor!

'Easy cowboy.' Luci tries to grab the knight shoulder and tug him back, but is no match if he tries to pull away.

'You run in, you die right now. We need to think of a plan of attack...' Preferably that plan was in fa t retreat, but she doubted she would be so lucky.

'Our main goal should stay the same. Save the girl.

"Whoah there, Dragonslayer," Brydon says lurching forward and grabbing Galaine's arm. "Hold on, let's talk this through, be smart about it. Cool your head for a second and I'll back you - we won't call this off, we'll go in and take that prick out. I fuckin' hate hate that guy, and if we can get rid of him and rescue Michelle all in one go, that'll be a real win, but if we rush it now, just like Lucy says, we'll likely all die before we accomplish either."

Xavier wants to let him go and says deadpan, "No, wait, stop, come back." So he is a little annoyed that the others intervened and stopped him. Well this could still turn out ok if they followed his plan anyway.

The one-time knight opens his door part way before he stops, listening to, and held back by, Barringer and Lucielle. "He's a monster," he says through clenched teeth, reliving the night of horrors at the monastery, all those centuries ago. It just takes him a moment to become more clear-eyed -- and see all the heavy ordnance on display by the Mayor's men.

"When then?" he says, still not fully closing his door. "When he leaves? We have the element of surprise. We must not squander it!"

Is the mayor's car sticking around?

OOC:
Yep! Three SUV type things parked in front of the building. I did say that all the doors opened and men got out, right? So I won’t change that. There are no occupants, as far as you can tell - drivers included.

"Martin, you happen to bring any explosives with you? We could rig the cars, in case he tries to make a break for it." He looks to Galaine and motions an explosion with his hands, a grin on his face.

'If he's here he's working with the Romani right? Don't think our new.. Buisness partners will appreciate that. We get the girl, get the Fang and then maybe we see if they're willing to help us in the big guy? Luci start already formulating a plan before Brydons speaks up.

'... Or we blow him up. That also works.'

Martin
You sit in your van and watch. You watch as fat drops of rain begin to burst upon the front windshield. You watch the street outside get coated in heavy splotches, too. Petrichor fills the air, as the ground turns a wet, dark grey over the course of only a few seconds.

More than anything, you watch as Maelgarus finishes his climb, turns to look back the way he came before turning and entering the building.

"I didn’t think we were going to be blowing shit up, man. I thought you guys were planning quick in and out, you know?" the man says, with a tutting of his teeth; clearly sickened that he missed an opportunity. "Left them in my other pants!" he says, tapping his pockets and shrugging.

"Could probably throw something together though! Or let the others deal with him!" he says, nodding along to Luci’s idea. "But first… what the fuck is a Maelgarus? That’s a new one on me!"

"A daemon," Galaine says simply, watching intently out the wet windscreen. "A fiend from some plane of hell, or some say the Outer Dark." Looking up before turning to look at Martin, he adds, "The gulfs betwixt the stars."

I think rigging the cars with explosives is a good backup plan in case they try to make an escape. Or we could use it as a lure. Once the mayor leaves, his car explodes, drawing out our targets to see what the hell is going on maybe. Then we can pick them off. What do you think?"
Jul 13, 2023 11:30 pm
"Would they come outside in daylight though? Even with an explosion, it may not work to draw them out and just give up the element of surprise. I vote we take a minute, try to rig something up to the cars, then head inside, staying as quiet as we can, as long as we can."
Jul 14, 2023 6:12 am
"They don't have to actually come outside, but up to the first floor maybe where it'll be easier to pick them off. But just one plan among many possibilities."

Back on the horse, folks! Apologies for disappearing! If we are all good to go, are we making a push on rigging the cars?

Who is going? Who is staying? In the interest of not having a DMPC, Martin will stay with the van!
Jul 21, 2023 9:06 am
"I say we rig the cars as a backup. If they try to bolt, we don't stress - we let the explosives do their job while focusing on the Romani and, most importantly, getting Michelle out of there."

He checks his new shotgun and pockets an assortment of shells, regular and irregular. His equipment ready overall, he looks to the others. "Let's do this."
Jul 21, 2023 11:40 am
Xavier nods his head. "Who shall be the one to rig the explosives? If only one among us was some kind of professional killer. An assassin, if you will. But who could that be?" He looks around at everyone. "Right then, guess it'll have to be me."
OOC:
Ok what should I roll for this? I'm sure it can't go wrong and literally blow up in my face, right? :D

Galaine, tired of the scheming and nattering, prepares to open the driver's door again.

"Where would you have my sword and shield?" he asks plainly.

Roll Intellect would be my guess and because you are an assassin, you can roll at advantage. 2d20, choose the best.

A fail might mean that you simply can’t get it rigged. A critical failure (20) will mean that the alarms go off, drawing attention. But you’d have to roll double 20 for that to happen with advantage! ;)

Xavier grabs a few items that when mixed together and ignited make for a potent explosive, then makes for the car to rig it up.
