@Qralloq I can't quite get the npc code to work. I see several pictures on the character sheet but the option to pick one doesn't come up

Once it is in your GMPC sheet, then when you click that GMPC sheet below this box, it will list various ability tables, snippets, and NPC tables. You can click the NPC pic, or select it from the drop-down box (I usually use Avatars).

Ah..is a GMPC character different from a PC or NPC? That's where I'm confused. I don't have any GMPCs. Is that a code or a video I missed?

A GMPC in this context is simply any character sheet that the GM has submitted to the game.

@Qralloq Thanks; that clears things up.

@Windyridge So, are you going to use a point of karma? If not, don't forget to add a point for future use.
Nov 28, 2023 4:34 pm
I'll pass on using karma this time. I'll add the point. Thanks for checking.

Note
So, after you make a roll check your last post. I'm still testing the waters here, please be patient. Any tips on running a combat smoothly with this system, I'm open to suggestions.

Hi all. Looks like i'll be joining your merry band at some point in the near future. I'll be doing lots of reading and catching up tonite, and hopefully be up to speed by tomorrow eve. Looking forward to playing with you all! :)

Update: I've caught up with the story so far, and now wondering what the best way to integrate a new character into the party would be. That might kind of lead to the Hero Path I take. First thoughts - a (possibly wounded) warrior from a previous expedition; a Warden seeking blood vengeance on a group of bandits but not averse to making a few extra coins along the way; a naive Delver searching for relics and way in over her head alone on the road.

Any suggestions are most welcome!

It’s a good question! It’s the eternal question when it comes to integrating a character!

How close might we be to a night’s rest? A tavern on the road? Or perhaps our ‘guide’ had a change of heart and you decided to come along for the ride!

Perhaps this dead lord will direct us to a most trusted and dependable person (you) that we can rely on to make good on his word.

My philosophy is always get a new character into a game ASAP even if the reason is not the most logical or likely. Easiest reason I can think of is you were late to the party and you're rushing to get caught up. It will also help if you're not a complete stranger; that at least 1 member of the party knows you prior.@KaeJae

Ok, I'm getting a picture here. Someone known to the townsfolk as a bit of an eccentric. Young, a bit naive, but underestimated and plucky. Probably someone the others wouldn't have chosen to come along, but she amused/impressed the Baron after refusing to take no as an answer to meeting with him after the others had departed. Whether he saw sending her along her as an asset to the the party, or simply as a convenient way to get her to leave his demesne, she arrives, red-faced and out of breath, pack clinking and clanking, either as the party is wrapping up their convo with Lord Rottenbottom or as they're about to make camp...

At least someone in the party is acquainted with her, although they may or may not be overjoyed to have her along - either because they think she's a bit off, or because she's too young/inexperienced/naive to be doing something quite so dangerous.

Does that work?

KaeJae! It's going to be so great to play with you again!

I'm sure any one of us would be willing to play along with your backstory, sounds fun.

Aww thanks Q! I was thinking the same thing :)

@Skyharpy: Katie (aka "Plosh" or "The Plosh" depending on the level of disregard) has been submitted!

That sounds great KaeJae. I see Kendral as a bit of an awkward loner who has come to this area/town and was drawn to other outliers, such as Xaka, Grimbly, Belvedere. So if your character is a bit odd, eccentric, and shunned by the general townsfolk, I think Kendral would have noticed and been motivated to introduce himself.
Dec 3, 2023 6:15 pm
Awesome! Do you think Kendral sees her as adventure ready, or as maybe a kindred spirit but not quite ready for prime time?

I think Kendral would recognize the 'underestimated' aspect of her story and believe she has something to offer any adventuring work the party gets that should not be overlooked or pooh-poohed despite the mutters of the townsfolk. I think he would see her as a kindred spirit, as he does the others in this rag-tag party, each in their own way.
