So far, a Cervid Savant, a Halfling Druid, an Elf Fighter, an Half-Orc Ranger, and a Zevite Fighter.

Well then. Lets go with a famale human who is a circus folk and a CHARLATAN and a underdog rogue.

Oh yeah, before I forget, high INT gives you bonus knowledge. So if you have a positive INT mod, for each point of mod you have, you can either pick a skill specialty in one of the lore skills (Arcana, Culture, Engineering, History, Nature, Religion), gain a proficiency in a lore skill (same list as above), pick up an extra language, or pick up a tool proficiency in one artisan's tool, gaming kit, instrument, or vehicle.

So if you had not taken into account your bonus knowledge, you can do so now.

I see possible mechanic stuff. What are the specialties listed with each skill?

Okay. Got that. Lots of reading. Hopefully Scarfs is nearly complete.

Oh yeah, speaking of the bonus knowledge reminded me of something else. In addition to the gear you carry using the normal encumbrance rules, your character also carries a number of supplies (well a number of days of supplies actually) equal to your Strength score. Those typically consist of food and water for your character, but they can be used for other things as well as per some class features, maneuvers, feats, etc.

Smiles. Added 13 pound of food and water. And readjusted my backpack load to account for it.

Those don't count against your regular load. You get those for "free" (well, you're still limited by your STR score).

Question: Reference is to sneak attack.

Sneak Attack: Once per turn, you can deal extra weapon damage when you hit a creature with a finesse weapon or ranged weapon attack. The amount of extra damage is shown in the Sneak Attack column of the Rogue table.

In order to apply this damage, you must not have disadvantage on the attack and your target must be within 5 feet of another enemy of the target who is not incapacitated. Alternatively, you can apply sneak attack damage if you have advantage on the attack.

Slapstick: You are proficient with improvised weapons, and improvised weapons you use can deal 1d6 damage rather than the damage they normally deal. You can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls of your improvised weapons.

Does this also mean using Slapstick feature that the improvised weapon qualifies for the use of Sneak Attack (finesse weapon)? Needless to say, Scarfs has a rather unusual background not known to the party.

I would say no as sneak attack is with a finesse weapon or a ranged

Hmm, interesting. Slapstick does seem to do the same thing the Finesse tag does for improvised weapons without actually adding it... Still, it's just so similar that not allowing it feels like it borders on pedantry at that point... You know what? I'll allow it. If you know how to handle improvised weapons to such extent that you can actually increase their damage die, you probably know how to use them for sneak attacks as well.

Hi, I saw above you talked about party comp. But since people have left since, what is the current party composition?

at a5etools only the "basic" classes and races are available in the character creator, right?
Feb 28, 2024 4:44 am
We have a rogue, a savant, a druid, and a fighter who plans to multiclass wizard later.

a5e tools should have stuff from all official a5e published books including the Gate Pass Gazetteer magazines (and a quick glance confirmed to me that this is indeed still the case).

Yeah, I saw the resources are there. But I was thinking about the character builder tool. There I can only select some of the options.

But that's okay. I will do it without the tool by hand :)

Do I interpret Savant right as a something like a arcane trickster kind of thing?
So it is a pretty well rounded party, right? So plenty of things can actually fit in?
Feb 28, 2024 3:36 pm
Oh, sorry. I don't know, I've never used the character builder tool. Yeah, the site is still in beta, os it's entirely possible some tools are not completed. Savants are more like genius that plan ahead, use tools and cunning. Maybe a bit more of a magical Sherlock Holmes than an arcane trickster.

Maybe I'm a little blind but is there a character sheet somewhere?
Feb 29, 2024 11:47 pm
I was starting to work on one until I saw players come up with something better looking than anything I could manage so far, so I sort of gave up... My best guess is there's an a5e sheet somewhere in the repository of player created sheets. I'll try looking for one and link it here if I find it.
Edit: Here it is!
