Advance to Level 2! How do we handle additional HP. Roll, max, or class average?

Oh. Does Pinto go to level 2? Innocent question.

By what I've been told from veteran 5e players, it's better to take class average, if you roll, you'll end up with fewer HP than class average.
Chose whichever method you prefer, but you stick with it.

Smiles. Scarfs is updated to second level rogue with Level Up: Advance 5 edition. Used class average.

So, I'll add 5 HP to my max HP then or am I misunderstanding this:
Hit Points at Higher Levels: 1d8 (or 5) + your Constitution modifier per cleric level after 1st

If you go with class average, that would be 5 + Constitution modifier. Your Constitution is 14, making your modifier +2. So going with class average, you'd be adding 7 HP at level 2 (5 average +2 CON mod.).

My stats (Fighter) are 6+Con so I get 8HP more for a total of 20HP. Right?

What is the difference between Basic Maneuvers and Combat Maneuvers? I get to choose from both pools at the same time? I am a bit confused with so many options...

Yes, correct for the extra HP.

Everyone can use basic maneuvers, you do not have to choose them, they are available to everyone all the time, and they do not cost exertion to use.

What you must pick, are maneuvers listed as being part of the combat traditions available to you, which if I remember correctly, since you are a fighter this means that you can pick from any and all combat traditions.

I also noticed that your character sheet doe not list a fighting style or soldiering knack. Do not forget to take those, you were supposed to have them since level 1. Also, at level 2, you gain a steely mien, do not forget about it. Finally, this would now be the perfect time to add your proficiency bonus to your proficient checks, and add the relevant attribute modifiers to all your checks (well, you can always skip your skills for that seeing that a5e is a lot more fluid than 5e as to which attribute can be used on a skill depending on the situation).

Being used to 5e, I found making thoughts on this newer stuff takes time. To be sure we all feel it. So much fun.

Yeah. The main problem is that a5e wanted to remain completely compatible with regular 5e, so they refused to remove any combat abilities to any of the classes to make room for social and exploration abilities.

The result is that you now have a lot of abilities to note and keep track of compared to regular 5e. In one way this is good, it makes every class useful in just about any situation without necessarily making them more powerful, but it also means a lot more accounting on the player's part which is not-so-good...

And forget about playing this game around an actual tabletop rather than a virtual one, there doesn't seem to be any single published character sheet right now that can hold all that character information! Each player is probably going to be stuck with a binder for his or her own character...

To be sure, Scarfs's character sheet is fairly much a mess. A required custom for sure. I find it very cumbersome to track all the goodies. And yes, leveling up a character seems to add to that and lots of reading. Level Up Advance 5th edition is much more time consuming to deal with than regular 5e. I haven't fathomed an easy solution. By looks further leveling up of the character will increase that more. Yee Haw. Ride'em Pinto AWAY.

The sheet has a nice header start but really doesn't solve the many goodies short of listing them which the custom sheet does. And how I have stuff that influence my skill doesn't cover well so just listing them all didn't solve that either. I shall stay with my custom creation and let it evolve.
