Memories of Holdenshire.

"Well... I suppose we can hope she cut a swathe." Chester's thin lip pursed as the rocky debris collapsed the side tunnel, more curious than ever of what sort of structure this might be. His pockets stuffed with provisions, he crouched behind Harsk, squinting at the floor, trying to pick up what he was seeing...

"Well, it isn't totally slimy per say but sure does look a bit moist ". Scrafts moves to the right-side of the path next to the wall tight and starts down the way letting her torch light see what it can.

The halfling followed, seemingly preoccupied with finding pockets for his newfound food supply, when the torch lit the slimy passage. Immediately he perked up with newfound interest that seemed out of place for something so icky.
"Oh boy! look! That slime looks like it might've been a cube! Like, one of them underground critters that creep around and dissolve everything they touch! There's even bits left! I bet it can melt something still."
Garbuffel looks around for something to put some bits of gelatinous cube in... Then he realized he shouldn't have said something. Someone might've put a hand in it. That would've been funny!

Harsk places burly hand on Chester’s shoulder, and points out the tracks he discerned on dungeonous ground.
Yeah, probably the lady herself, Harsk says. But lemme see…if maybe there’s something more…
Hazel eyes, untrammeled by darkness, study the ground a bit more. Checking the dust for other disturbances. A half-orc ranger leaves nothing to chance!

Harsk fails to glean anything else... Seems you trampled the tracks a bit as you emerged from the stairwell and started checking each doors...

As for Scarfs, she makes her way down the slimy corridor to another pair of opened double door which seems to lead into a large room line with countless locili (shelf-like alcoves where bodies are laid to rest) and the floor strewn with a pile of broken bones and partial skeletons. This is when she feels are feet are starting to burn and she takes... 1 point of acid damage.

Scarfs takes fast steps back saying, "The floor here burns of acid. Might be some other way to get past this area." You can tell by her reactions that she was gritting her teeth as in slight pain.

Eronar makes his way to the double-doors, curious about the acid. He looks for a safe way across the chamber.

Roark takes a quick look at the doors they have passed.
Help me with doors. We can put them down as a bridge past the acid

Always pleased to lend rangerly hand, our half-orc fellow assists his dwarven companion with using the doors as a bridge.

Lemme take the heavy end, he says. Turning the doors so they fit as evenly as possible along acid-ridden floor.

Let’s move quickly everyone, before the acid eats through our bridge!

"EEEEHEEEH! Told you! Didn't listen! Now you need new shoes!" Garbuffel laughed at Scarfs.
Dec 18, 2023 11:15 pm
Scarfs weighs the thoughts of, "Let's play handball with the little halfling and see if he roasts in the acid too." but she passes on it. She has had worse to deal with. But the little turd is right about her shoes being messed over. Grrr.

And by looks, it might be a bit tough to brand new spanking ones too. She does like nice soft boots. They don't make as much noise and work well with her nimble self.

With the bridge done, she is more than ready to move. "Lets find a way out of here. I have shopping to do for new boots now."

With judicious placing of the doors, you can skip enough of the slime so you don't burn (you could've also used the old pews too, but oh well...). You finally make it to the other side where Scarfs is and can notice the room full of broken bones and partial skeletons as well... In fact, as you make your way to this room, two skeletons wearing ancient burial shrouds extirpate themselves from the rubbles and turn empty eye sockets burning with pinprick motes of blue light against a dark void towards you... What do you do?

Chester took careful steps over the makeshift bridge, his hooves clacking on the planks as he brought up the rear. But the sight of the skeletal warriors had him back on his heels.

"Back! They may not be clever enough to avoid the acid..!"

Scarfs says as she has a shortsword drawn, "They either going to let us pass or going to attack us any moment. I suspect the later now." She is not at all bold enough to take a front if she can avoid it. Stepping back is something she favors.

"Looks like the dead lady didn't clean up the entire place..." Garbuffel remarked, from the relative safety of the back of the group..
Dec 19, 2023 10:03 pm
Eronar hangs back with his bow, not yet firing, just in case.
Dec 19, 2023 10:58 pm
The skeletons simply observe you retreating and are not taking any sort of offensive action.
Dec 19, 2023 11:16 pm
Scrafs offers, "Perhaps we can skirt round the wall close and they will not bother us."
Dec 21, 2023 1:21 pm
They are acting on a set of orders. Usually protect this area, tomb, treasure and themself. We should be able to skirt around them
Dec 21, 2023 1:31 pm
Let see if there are any track hugging the edges. Scarfs looks around to see where the lady earlier might have traveled.
