Dining Hall
This is a long spacious room made to fit a long dining table. At the head is an elaborate chair fit for a noble. It is flanked on either side by a line of similarly, yet less decadent, chairs. On the ceiling hangs a candle-filled wagon wheel on a chain and rope for lighting. Cobwebs and dust are a staple in his palace. There is a door to the north, east and west.

Xaka looks under the table, and sees no big spiders or what have you, so she reads aloud a comment near the head of the table.

The Door Opens to a Courtyard
Large and spacious is this once beautiful Courtyard. The cherub fountain’s water is dirty and overgrown with moss. The grass is shin-high and mostly brown. Once adorned with rose bushes with blooms; now it’s overgrown with thorny briars.
EXPLOSION!!!
You hear a loud explosion coming from the direction Grimbley and Kendral went. Its not only heard, its felt as a vibration. Dust falls from the ceiling.

Moonshadow spots Xaka as he flys around a bend in the hall.
"Hoot, Hoot!" calls the bird excitedly at the sight of Xaka (who the bird considers his friend).
He swoops in attempting to land directly on Xaka's broad shoulder. There is a noticeable piece of parchment grasped in the bird's talon.

Belvedere twists up his face looking at the garden that has fallen into disrepair. He feels the explosion then, and deftly dodges some dust which falls from the roof in a determined plume. Brushing off any tiny remains of dust that caught him, he turns to say something to Xaka, only to see that she has run off.
He counts to five, giving her enough time to make short work of whatever is in the other room before he arrives and then takes off after her.

Xaka scoops the message and reads it, sounding out each word carefully. When Belvedere catches up, she gives him the notes says, "Looks like they worked it out, so we're off to the skiff. Let's go meet up with them. Lead the way Moonshadow."
She follows the bird, or the birds directions if it stays on her shoulder,, even though it's unlucky to have an owl indoors.

Here is a GM suggested roll to determine Moonshadow's next move (I modified the idea a bit):On a 1...the bird falls back into 'self preservation' mode and flies out of the castle.
On a 2-4, his love and concern for his master dominates and he heads back to where he left Kendral (the source of the explosion).
On a 5 or 6 Moonshadow understood the gist of Kendral's intentions with the note and leads Xaka's party to the skiff. He assumes the explosion is Kendral and Grimbly taking care of business.

Moonshadow screeches a panicked hoot with all the commotion and darts away from Xaka after dropping the note. He flies hurriedly without the others being able to follow, looking to be heading toward the way out of the castle.

Xaka breathes a sigh of relief. "Owls don't belong in houses!" she calls after the silly bird, then continues onward to the site of the explosion.
