Volume I: The Lost Boys

Blacklight had a sinking feeling as she turned her attention towards the zombie cages and their allegedly locked doors expecting to find them already pouring out and heading in this direction and crossing her fingers that the fleeing lost boys wouldn't find themselves being overtaken by a wave of the recently dead.

Dr. Harris was a grown man, but he still managed to look comically tiny next to the Ogre. But there was nothing funny about being jolted by a 2 meters tall snarling monster. The doctor started spilling his guts - before the brute would do it for him.
"The aerosol. The Resurrected are attracted to it" he looked frantically at the door, expecting the Zombies to pour into the room at any minute "I designed it to help us safely herd them into their cages" And Chayton just sprayed the room with the entire content of the canister!

Screams and shouts from down the hall confirmed Black Lights and Mimic's worst suspicion. The Zombies were loose, and they were heading right at them. The Doctor's invention clearly needed some more work. At least one of the Zombies preferred to stop to grab one of the fleeing boys with his rotten arms, flinging the panicked teen against the floor. There was no doubt in their minds that if they don't do something, and fast, the boy was going to end up as the the undead's next meal.
OOC:
Ogre - you can mark 'guilty', for scaring off the Boys unintentionally.
Mimic - please make your Move, followed by Black Light.
Jul 23, 2024 9:45 pm
Night Arrow will look at the doorway and draw her bow.
Seeing the zombie try to eat the boy, she aims her arrow.
What is already dead can not be killed again, so this time she does aim where it will hurt in an attempt to save the boy from being eaten.
OOC:

I hope I am not posting too fast with making moves ad Mimic and Black Light are still in the wait. I have only a few times a day I can post, and don't want to feel like I am being too quiet too long (like I felt myself during the stand off with the doc). Will hold rolling anything for Mimic and BL first.

"Sh-Crap." Mimic ran out the door towards the zombies, ready to start beating them to gross smears. "I've got it!" She wouldn't have to be worried about being too rough with them. Maybe everyone would like her and think she did a good job. Seeing one of the other teens get grabbed and thrown, Mimic tries to gently drag him back out of the zombie's range. "Rethink your life."

Blacklight took a moment to try and get an idea of the situation as best she could before tentacles began forming throughout the building, as she felt the last of the lost boys pass an intersection she hauled old rusty fire doors shut throughout the building. It wouldn't be enough to force the zombies to them but should at least help channel them so that every monster in the place would end up with a single simple path to the scent that was drawing them in, no distractions no missed turns. "They're coming." She warned even as throughout this room her tentacles pulled the remaining four non-combatants into the far corner where they would be handily out of the way and out of danger.

Defend another - (2d6+2)

Mimic pulled the young teen into the room just before he was about to become Zombie fodder. Harmonia punched another Zombie into a wall.

But the problem remained that there were far too many of them. They were being swarmed. With even the stray Zombies having nowhere else to go but forward, the pack of ravenous undead poured right into the operating room once Harmonia was distracted engaging one of them.

That didn't put just the heroes in danger - the Doctor was still held by the Ogre and had no way to get out of the way. Chayton and Miguel retreated into the corner before the advance of the rotting corpses, and the teen that Mimic saved took cover behind her, sticking to her back as if his life depended on it.
OOC:
Mimic's and Blacklights Moves are successful. Mimic - I assume you added another point to the Team, but you can take influence over the teen you saved if you want instead. Harmonia picked one of the Zombies off, but it's just one out of twenty.

Edited:
Three Zombies (so far) squeezed past Harmonia into the room, putting Zuri under immediate threat.

Night Arrow/Ogre - you're free to make your Move.
Jul 24, 2024 7:00 pm
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!" Zuri's voice raised to a shrill as at least three Zombies made a beeline toward her. Tugging helplessly at the straps tying her hands and feet to the chair, she could do nothing but scream in horror and wait for the inevitable.
Jul 25, 2024 12:26 am
The Ogre's head snaps around as he hears Zuri's scream.

Holding Doctor Harris in one hand. He reaches down with his other to wrench Zuri, chair and all off the ground. Hoing tha he's tall enough to hold them both above the on rushing zombies.

Defend Zuri - (2d6+0)

Night Arrow's focus gets drawn by Zuri's scream, instead of the zombies ambushing the boy in the hallway. Things are going soooo fast.

"Not so nice when death rushes at you huh?"

She says to Zuri. The shoots at the nearest zombie by Zuri, to defend Zuri. They are already dead, so she shoots to kill deader.

But things go so terribly fast that she messes up as badly as Ogre.
OOC:
Thanks to sharp eye of Delerium this is a 5, not a 3. Two team can make a pass

As things start to spiral out of control so quickly Blacklight realizes they're all fighting alone and at this rate they will be overwhelmed. "Mimic, Ogre help Harmonia stop more from getting in!" Even as she yelled she was doing her best to slow the three that had already gotten past and were now chewing on Zuri by using the shadows.

"Arrow help me with these!"
She called out as the shadows themselves began to coalesce and grapple with the zombies that were already in the room. Blacklight just hoped that she wouldn't be too late or had made a mistake in trying to take charge.
OOC:
If I can spend team to help Night Arrow save Zuri I will. If it's too late to 'defend someone' to save Zuri because of the previous failures I'll 'directly engaging a threat' the 3 zombies that got in just let me know which I should be rolling/

"On it." She tries to turn around to look at the person hiding behind her. "Stick close to me." It would be terrible if the person she saved immediately got bitten anyway because she left him alone in the hallway. Mimic kept an eye on him as she ran for the doorway. She tried to block as much of the entrance as she could, and got ready to hit any zombies that got too close. "What should I do with him?" She calls over her shoulder, nodding towards the other teen.
OOC:
I'm fine with adding a team!
Jul 26, 2024 6:04 am
The Zombies didn't really have an instinct for self-preservation; they didn't feel any pain, and their only urge was to feed on living flesh.
But they were easily distracted, especially when there were so many other living breathing humans in the vicinity. Once they were peppered with arrows, and slowed down by shadow tentacles, they settled their eyes on a new target, other than the girl screaming in the chair - Night Arrow.
OOC:
@Shorty , you can either add a Team to the pool, or take Influence over Zuri, as a result of your successful Defend Move.
Any character can make a Move, no one is under any immediate threat at the moment.

Jul 26, 2024 3:48 pm
Night Arrow nods at Black Light and Mimic when the obstruction at the door and the shadow tentacles appear and slow the zombies just enough for her arrows to hit.

"Oh, great. Now the zombies are looking at me..." she sighs as she realizes that the zombies have shifted their focus.
"Ok, Zuri. Going to get you out of here. Just stay behind me. We'll keep the zombies away from you."
OOC:
Taking influence over Zuri, hopefully it helps to get her out alive or stop her wanting to be a zombie
I made the last move, so leaving it to the others to act now. Will off course fend off zombies if needed
What is the team pool right now? 1?

The mindless Zombies kept on lunging at Harmonia, despite being unable to harm her, or get past to the scented humans on the other side of the door. Many of them ended up splattered or dismembered, but that didn't dissuade the rest of them. Futilely trying to grab the much stronger woman, sharp teeth sliding against her costume without so much as breaking her skin, they nonetheless kept on charging at her - as long as their feet could carry them forward.
OOC:

@Nebula
Because the Zombies are not really a threat to Harmonia and she can pretty much defeat them at her leisure, I think a Defend Move (guard the door to keep them from passing through) is probably more appropriate. Your action is successful. You can take influence over any one person inside the room, or add a point to the Team. Also, you get to mark potential because you failed your previous Move.

Adding a +1 pt to the team please.

Blacklight focusecd on keeping the Zombies that had already gotten into the room away from Night Arrow and herself before realizing that they had some rather untrustworthy civilians at their back. Because of that she was ready when Chayton took a step forward and pinned him with a glare trusting her new teammate to watch her back as she was watching theirs. "What were you thinking?" She tried not to wince at a disturbingly meaty crunch behind her as Harmonia did something to prevent yet another zombie from getting in though this did have her turning her attention more towards the doctor. "Is there a way to get them to stop?" Unsaid was 'without having to re-kill them'.
Jul 29, 2024 7:31 pm
Dr. Harris more than 'winced' when Harmonia pummeled another one of his Zombies. He was absolutely beside himself. If he wasn't held by the Ogre, he would have been begging at her feet "No!!! Don't harm them! They can't help themselves!"

Frantically, he looked away from the Ogre, to Blacklight "Can't you leave the same way you got here? They aren't going to hurt anyone if none of us are here!"

Harmonia didn't pause at the doctor's complaints, her focus unwavering as she moved with precision and strength. Each undead that lunged at her met the same fate: their heads crushed effortlessly under her powerful strikes. Her expression remained stoic, reflecting the grim necessity of her actions rather than any pleasure in the task.

With each motion, she created a barrier of protection around her team, ensuring no zombies could break through and overwhelm them. Her blows were swift and decisive, reducing the undead to mere remnants with a cold efficiency. Harmonia’s determination was evident, and her actions spoke volumes about her commitment to safeguarding her companions and preventing the horde from advancing. The undead, once a relentless tide, were now nothing more than shattered remnants at her feet, a testament to her unwavering resolve and unmatched strength.
