As the crowd began to disperse Min just stood there helplessly watching and feeling like a fraud. She should have done something more, actually helped or had faith in her teammate or maybe the courage to act more openly, but her effort to provide a distraction had gone terribly. At least Ogre had done the right thing, kept that angry Beau girl he was always hanging out with from starting a fight. Why was it always like this in school. Why couldn't she muster up the pluck to really do anything.

Still attuned to Skipper’s senses, Enola beckons the little mouse to return to her silently. The mouse obeys, scurrying back to the locker. It is then that Enola bends down as if pretending to tie her shoe, allowing Skipper to crawl up her sleeve. Enola then carries the little miscreant back up to her locker and hides him in her bag again.
"Good work, Agent Skipper." She then slips an even bigger piece of cheese from her lunch for the mouse to nibble on. Enola then packs her bag and closes the locker as if nothing happened.
It is certainly commendable to see Ogre be the bigger person…well, emotionally and physically. Stacy and all of those girls were a damned nuisance, always thinking they were on top of the pecking order and that everyone is beneath them. Sure, Wyoming also had its fair share of cliques, but her mom Blair - originally the sheriff of her town - made regular visits to the school to ensure everyone was at least cordial with one another. This place seemed far more barbaric in that sense. She shakes off the thought before heading to class, already exhausted before the day even officially started.

Delirium says:
With one final huff, she led her two friends down the hall, giving Jodelle the stink-eye as she went past her. Then she looks at Jason for a moment.
"I had it under control, you know? ... But.... uhm... thanks anyway."
Something about Jason's interference doesn't feel alright. Her big brother needn't defend her. Not with all the witch craft at her finger tips. But then again, blowing up half the school over a little quarrel would surely get her in detention for life.
Then she looks at Sonny.
"You okay there, buddy? Those bitches can be nasty."

"I'm fine. Sticks and stones right?"
All his attempts to appear calm are belied by one of his massive hands unconciously clenching and unclenching. Sonny might be trying to act fine, but the Ogre is clearly agitated.
"Thanks for helping me out and for not making it a whole scene."
He turns to Beau. She still has his hand, or vice versa. It's pretty hard to tell at this stage.
"You too. Thanks for stopping when you did. I don't want you getting into trouble for me and I don't want anyone to get hurt."
He gives a final sigh.
"We better get to class"

Eriko, too stunned to act after Beau shoved past her, watches on in mounting anxiety as she grows closer and closer to witnessing what can only be expected to be something akin to an inevitable car crash. She is pleasantly surprised when that does not happen, and Sonny seems to keep things calm regardless.
The mouse was an odd addition to events, but... sure, why not?
As the crowds disperse, Eriko feels a pang of guilt. She could have done more. She wasn't really sure she did anything, actually. Oh well... all the ends well, and all that. She could check on Beau and/or Sonny at lunch, if she could find them. Eriko shrugs to herself, puts back on a smile, and heads to class.

Beau does not seem placated in the slightest, but she kind of always looks like that these days, so it's hard to tell for sure.
"Someone needs to teach those kids a lesson," she says, erring a little on the side of dangerous. Her eyes flick between the retreating popular girls and the jocks, two cliques she never would have touched with a pole before... everything changed. Beau lets go of Sonny's hand, retracting a little from Jodelle, whom she doesn't know as well. Without another word, she stalks off, presumably - hopefully - to go to class, for the sake of her academics if nothing else.

***** Later that afternoon *****
The run-in with the Harpies was enough to sour anyone’s mood. It would have been nice if you could put the entire ordeal behind you, but unfortunately, the trio shared classes with most of you, and school being school, there was no way to avoid running into them in the future.
The day drew to its end, the school drama nearly forgotten as you recuperated in the comfort of your homes. That short respite was interrupted when a text message, sent from Vermite on your discrete channel, buzzed on your phones.

Enola had spent a couple of hours after school searching for Mr. Sleepy, or rather recruiting the neighbourhood rats, mice, and squirrels for her own personal information network. It took a couple of hours, but eventually they led her down the right grapevine. A black squirrel by the name of Squidge pointed her towards an alleyway, claiming they recently saw a cat matching Mr. Sleepy’s description. Wanting to not frighten her quarry, Enola sneaked her way into the alley through the shadows. Sure enough, Mr. Sleepy was there, but with a rather unusual cohort. A disheveled man in ragged clothes clung to the small cat. At first, Enola suspected him to be a homeless passerby who found Mr. Sleepy. However, her enhanced sense of smell started to pick up an odd scent about him: blood and rot, lots of it. His movements and behaviour seemed unusual, and there is something very suspicious about his form. Looking around the alleyway, she also noticed the scattered remains of various animals, including feathers, fur and bones. Something wasn’t right.
Unsure of what the stranger has in store, Enola airs on the side of caution and contacts the team.
Hey all. I could use some help over at 4th and 5th. There’s someone here that’s really setting off my alarm bells. Reeks of animal blood. Not sure what to make of it. Can explain more once you get here. Thx.
Enola shoots the text off to the rest of the group before reaching into her backpack for her costume. She pulls out the folded oilskin coat and respirator, both of which came from her dad’s old auto shop back in Wyoming.
"Time to get to work," she tells herself and she begins to don the costume.

Min was home, alone, in a dark apartment working on her homework brooding. She would have liked to just brood in the dark but was far too responsible for that so had to settle for doing her work without the lights on. The shadows didn't keep her from being able to read and it at least let her wallow in the impression of being broody. At least till her mom got home in another hour or maybe two. So when her phone pinged with a message she was picking it up almost before the noise had finished playing.
YES there was trouble!, well, no bad that there was trouble but she could do something about this instead of stand helplessly aside! She almost flew into her costume before stepping into the shadows of her closet and out into the lengthening shadow behind the elevator block on the roof of the tallest nearby apartment. It was one of her favorite go to spots as long as it wasn't near noon because from there she could identify distant shadows much more easily, and so moving around to look towards the general area Enola had indicated she found the spot where she could just make out the sight and feel of skittering vermin and little claws. One more moment to quickly fix her braids into buns, almost forgot... and she was stepping through the shadows to the figure she assumed must be Vermite from this distance.
As usual the ability to teleport had made her response time pretty quick.

Once the first respondents have prepared themselves, there’s a light but unmistakeable thud of shoes hitting the ground as Retribution, clad in black, leather, and piercing red, leaps down from a nearby rooftop. They are completely covered by their costume - not a single hair showing - and bring to mind a big cat with the way they prowl forwards. They’re tense from the warning text, fists clenching, ready to fight. Then they suddenly stop, pull out their phone from their pocket as if the thought just struck them, and respond to the group chat with a single thumbs up emoji. Retribution pockets the phone again and turns to their teammates, looking to Vermite for an explanation.
"Are they dangerous?"
"Are they dangerous?"

There's an unmistakable thump, thump, thump as Ogre plods up to the corner. One of the advantages of being "the big red guy" is not having to worry about a costume.
Remaining inconspicuous can be a problem, but Ogre has come via some back alleys, moving slowly so as not to cause alarm.
"Hey Vee," he rumbles, "Hey everyone. What's up? We helpin' our cute little animal friends tonight?"

Eriko is curling a weight with one hand while reading through her homework with the other when Slugger's phone buzzes. She grins, and sets down the dumbbell with a clunk before reading what was sent. She fist-pumps when she sees it's a mission.
"Omw" the text itself conveys none of the enthusiasm, but perhaps the speed of its reply does.
It's easy to slip into the Slugger's costume, consisting as it does of mostly pads and protective gear. A healthy smudging of eye-black across the face and around the eyes to distort her face, and then she dons the catcher's mask on top. With the gear in place, Slugger quietly slips out the window and jumps down to the yard to acquire her hero-mobile... a bicycle.
Needless to say, she arrives later than the swiftly teleporting Blacklight.
Slugger dismounts the bike and joins the others, spinning her bat (aluminum, this time) in one hand like a baton. "Here's hoping this one's not as exciting as the last," she says jokingly. "I'll even settle for just less expensive. So, what's up, Vermite?"

And while there was no definite answer (yet) to Retribution's question about the danger the strange man posed, what WAS certain, is that one very-lazy orange tabby cat squirming in his hands was in immediate danger. Unfazed by the panicked hissing cat scratching and clawing, the man opened his mouth to reveal a set of rotten, but very functional, teeth.
Mr. Sleepy's fate was going to be decided in the span of a split second, because it looked like the man was quite willing, if not eager, to devour the cat alive.

Jodelle had gone straight home from school. Her parents where at the shop and Jason was probably at practice, so she had the house to herself. She raided the fridge, tossed aside her schoolbag with boring homework and dug up a more interesting read from it's hiding place under her bed - her book of spells.
Sitting sideways in a lounge chair, her legs over one of the arm rests, she reads. Practicing a few of the more complicated words. Surely she should have done this with Marlene, but Marlene said she would be busy today doing inventory. Jodelle practiced a bit herself.
Until her phone buzzed.
She replied "I'll be there asap."
She never really cared about a costume. She didn't really have to hide who she is, right? So she just put on her black robe that made her look just a bit witchier than normal, and got to her bike. Peddling to 4th and 5th.

Retribution doesn't waste any more time on words, or explanations. Their eyes narrow under the mask. Without missing a beat they step forward, stamping down on a loose trash lid to flick it into their hands, and then launch it at the guy's jaw like a frisbee, with the intent of clocking him out before he can even think of biting down.
OOC:
I'm going to roll for a defense here, since it seems pretty obvious who/what is in danger. Never rolled a dice on here before let's see how it goes. Hopefully not too presumptuous jumping in here.Rolls

"Good to see everyone came," Vermite answers everyone, just as she witnesses the stranger open their monstrous maw. "We’ve definitely got a situation on our hands, I’d say!"
Though she’s not as reactive as Retribution, Vermite is still quick to act. As Mr. Sleepy begins to scurry away, she moves rapidly to snatch him up into her arms. At first, the cat understandably resists.
"I’ve got you! You’re okay. Shh shh shh."
Eventually Mr. Sleepy relaxes, though still shaking and clearly on edge. Vermite sighs in relief, then turns her attention to the situation at hand. She nestled Mr. Sleepy into her backpack before pointing at the stranger.
"Anyone have any idea what we’re dealing with here?!"

The man was quick as he was strong; Retribution couldn’t so much as recollect herself after frisbeeing the trash lid before being slammed into the ground. The Zombie (yes, he did look like a Zombie), went for the most sensitive part of her body – her eyes. Sharp, filthy yellowish fingernails dug into her pupils with incredible strength. His rotten teeth searched to sever her jugular, or bite her ear off, as his mouth dripped black blood over her face.
It was a savage, brutal attack, made all the more terrifying by the undead’s gruesome visage; it was already dead, and wouldn’t stop until it made sure Retribution was, too.

"No, back off! I said: stay away from me!!!" they could all hear the rising voice of the young boy well enough. Deion couldn’t be very far from them "Oh no, don’t you touch me!! Don’t you dare!!"
"Help! Someone, Heeee ---- " the last word was cut off by a painful shrill.

The thought that she might actually witness someone begin to devour a live cat had shocked Slugger into inaction, but seeing that same someone about to do the same to her teammate snapped her back. She runs up to the creature and skids to a halt next to it, winding up a swing. When he feet finally plant themselves firmly against the asphalt, Slugger releases, swinging low and aiming for the zombie's head as if its body were a tee.
