2. The Bank Job

The zombie goes limp quickly, the magic animating it undone almost immediately. Yet, Ruby's libation continues to reduce it's insides into a smelly soup.

You've two sleeper cars potentially filled with few or many vampires. The shriek you heard tells you they're not all sleeping. What do you do?

Ruby wipes some of the sloshed liquid off her hands onto the remains of the engineer's clothes. "I have an idea. It's a temporary solution, but we can just start the train up, hop off, and let it drive itself. Hopefully into a mountain or off a cliff. Alternatively we all go, drive until the sun comes up, and open all the doors."

OOC:
Do we know the area? Is there a bridge some place close-ish that we could, say, dynamite?
On the steps of the general store, the wheezing, bleeding Reverend doesn't even make it inside before the spry-limbed Reyes has brewed a concoction and ended the fiend that was driving the train. Leaning on a post, he slumps down and tries to staunch the worst of his wounds before continuing on with more vampire hunting. When he sees the state of his ravaged body, he calls out.

"Might... could... I ah, I could use a hand, maybe a bandage..."

"And here I was thinking we fix all these doors shut, so the damned things can’t get out. Then we set the whole thing alight!

Roast em, or boil em in their tin can! Whatever works!"
he goes on, thinking they could repurpose their bonfire from earlier.

Kane hops back when Ruby sprays her concoction on the fiend abd begins to breathe from his mouth to avoid the stench of the thing's insides melting into the dirt.

"I like your idea, Dirt. Let's lock the cars using rope or something and burn the bastards to death. Your idea is a fine one Ruby, but might be harder to execute. Can you help the Rev in the meantime? He's in dire need of medical attention."

Dirt is all out of bandages! In a pinch, we could take something from one the store here.

I’m guessing that Ruby has the best healing chance here, whatever way we go!

"Oh heavens, sorry Rev! I was so focused on that ghoul thing I didn't even notice. I got some medicine here for you." She pulls out a vial of reduced rattler juice and holds it to his lips. "Drink."

The Reverend's worst wound closes under the manages and elixir, leaving him with only a couple bad ones.

What's the next move? Burn the train near all these nice flammable buildings?

And walk into the desert with the flames licking up behind us all badass like? Uh… yes!
"Might be best we raise the alarm before we go lighting anything up! Just in case anyone is hiding in them nearby buildings!" Dirt says, not looking to have more innocent blood on his hands.
Aug 17, 2024 11:29 pm
"Thank you, Miss Reyes," the Reverend says, wincing as he gets to his feet, doing his best to keep his eyes off Ruby, as usual. "Good as new," he lies, before turning to the rest.

"What is your plan then? To trap the remainder of these fiends on the train and somehow incinerate it?"
OOC:
Mining operations nearby? Would the general store have dynamite?
Aug 18, 2024 12:49 am
"We could warn the good folks of this here town in case the other buildings go up, Like Dirt says, but what are the chances of that happening? Let's burn the bastards. Dynamite. Oil. Whatever we got or can get. Get the general store staff to warn anyone in the nearby buildings if you thnk we need to."

"Well… get to hollering! Just as soon as we’ve tied these things in tight!" Dirt says, fetching to get some rope and anything else that might bar the doors.

"Don’t know about if they speak English or not. I suspect that they don’t, but best be safe!"

"We should also disable the engine!" Turner suggests strongly. "The Lord says this terror stops here, and so it shall!"
Aug 18, 2024 3:57 pm
Rev got close enough to see that anything reasonable you might find in the general store is likely in there. Dynamite, kerosene, rope and chains? Surely there is. Of course, theft is theft.

Kane hustles into the general store and shouts at anyone in there. "Get out! She's gonna go up in smoke! The train, I mean! It could spread to the store."

Then he hopes to help hisself to kerosene and some rope for securing the train cars.

It's nighttime, innit? Won't we have to break into the store?

Is it? We've been shooting in the dark then all this time? Eech. 😅

There may have been penalties for that very thing when shooting at the running vampire from the bank!

Don’t get bogged down in the details! You all saw how well breaking into the bank went! Do we want to risk Dirt again so soon?

Victor tries the handle of the door in the general store and if it's locked (maybe it won't be since the townies are unnerved by the vampire invasion) he will try to force the door open and get the supplies needed.
