NPCs
We’ll use this space to track our NPCs. Please use the format below (along with an image). Each NPC in the book is trained in some skills, so let’s say that each NPC gets two trained skills. We can discuss Expert Skills on a case by case basis.

Given that NPCs interact with everyone, let’s have the NPCs’ creator create one issue for them, while a second issue can come from someone else!

And let’s give them 1d4 pieces of gear.

The Pontoonhttps://i.imgur.com/GYu5r6e.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/rMdBvVz.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/KbZ002h.jpegYou managed to find one or several pontoons abandoned on a body of water! Lashing them together provides a passable, though cramped haven on the water. There’s fish to be had, if you can catch them, but there were few other supplies on the boat.

Unfortunately, at least for now, the pontoons aren’t going anywhere! Out of gas, and out of luck, you haven’t been able to scrounge up enough juice to give you movement; save for the sticks you might use to push the pontoons further on to the water when walkers get near.

Defense: 2
Capacity: 1

Known Issues:
• Easy to spot out on the water. You’ll be sitting ducks.
• Requires runs to find food and gasoline.
• Cramped, which creates conflict in the group.
• Extreme cold in the winter.

NPC Anchor: Emma Gauff - Richard is curious about her because of their similar interests. He likes to think he's her only protector. It's one of the few things that feel good nowadays.

Meet Tracy Devlin, Billie-Faye Coopers's NPC anchor. A teenaged boy with a rough upbringing, he's the son of Billie's best friend. When Tracy's mom was on her deathbed, having been mauled by walkers, she made Billie promise to look after her kid... after Cooper pulled the trigger and ended her life. Trouble was, Tracy was living with his dad, and learning from the scary man's violent, weird, sexist and unnerving habits. Getting him out of there took some doing...

Name: Tracy Devlin
Background: Kid
Expert Skills: -
Trained Skills: Tech, Endurance
Issues: Troubled male teenager. Struggles with cruel and violent tendencies, raging hormones, lying, being a sexist little fuckwad and generally lacking empathy. He really wants a gun. Billie does not know how to deal with this kid, but she's stuck with him. Oh, and his father might be looking for him. He's not a great guy.
Gear: Collard greens and fried bacon (one ration), Small Solar Panel, Ten Firework Rockets (makes sense!)

Some questions someone might want to answer! Just something to get the noggin’ joggin’.

• How did you first meet The Fort / The Athenians? How did that first meeting go?

• It’s been more than a year since the world went to shit. Why hasn’t your group joined one of these bigger factions?

• Why are those at the Fort losing hope? What happened? What will happen if they give up?

• What did you say when an emissary from the Athenians came begging you to join their community?

• How have these factions helped you survive this long? How have you helped them?

I'll answer the first one.

Out hunting for a radio signal that kept glitching in and out once a day, an oddity a year into the end of civilization, they ran into a patrol from the Fort. Before they could shoot each other, a small horde was drawn by the noise. In the cross fire, they managed to defend each other. They traded some deer meat for some ammunition. Been a loose trade forming since then but Boattown hasn't yet sent a couple to visit them, afraid they'd never get to leave

The Athenians, it turns out were the signal source. While their radio was functional, ours had a busted antennae, a hairline fracture that made it unreliable. Once we found and fixed it, we got in contact with them. A meeting was arranged and two folks from each side met, with Shayna providing some medical treatment for an absessed wound.

What do you think, team? Was it because we *were* in a bigger faction before and it didn't go well? Do one of us know someone unsavory in one of these factions? Do we know they're just going to be a target for a bigger, nastier faction we've briefly encountered?
Jul 15, 2024 2:24 pm
2nd one: We've seen what happens when you give up your freedom for the promise of safety. Bigger factions come with bigger risks, and we trust ourselves more than any distant leader.
Jul 16, 2024 12:02 am
Could it be that the larger faction we were part of was decimated when defences failed? We've seen it going very wrong, a real massacre. This may or may not be the fault of bad leadership.

their wheat crops, their pride and main source of food, have been spoiled by weather/parasites/some unexplained cause. Rumors are that they will go back to scavenging soon. Or worse, to raiding other smaller, weaker groups of survivors. Like ours.

https://i.imgur.com/9FfHxd8.jpegFeast your eyes! The dice divined our coordinates on the map, and I worked stuff out from there. You’ll see Athens (it’s not all cleared out! The Athenians will only control a portion!) in the lower-left corner. And Fort Lamar is around 3B. I imagine your crew are set up a little down river from them. Maybe 4C (4 being horizontal, and C being vertical on the grid.)

Billie-Faye would let someone else deliver the no-thanks news to the emissary, but in private:

Fuck that! Fuck them! You know how many fuckin' walkers there are down in the city? They's -crazy- to set up shop down there. Just a matter of time before's they're overrun. Group that big, someone's bound to make a mistake.

Eva and Selena
Sisters you found on the road. You came across them as they were fleeing from New Haven goons. They hinted at some weird cult goings on up there!

Eva took stress, trying to grab the rope in the river.
