We've mentioned it on Discord already, so let's take a proper pause here.

Hey
I am not enjoying this adventure. It's the plot, not the players.
I don't feel I have any urgency in the plot. I feel that the NPC's are comically portrayed as mustache-twirling villains or golden-hearted innocents. There is very little in between. And I feel like I have been placed on a trolley, pulled from one encounter to the next, showcasing Spelljammer, and that feeling won't go away. Now that I'm formulating this in text, I feel that this adventure is treating me like a 5-year-old kid in a trolley, and telling me what Spelljammer is and how it should be played.

Where is the StarTrek in space? Where is the firefly crew? Heck Luke Skywalker had more shades of gray than is so far portrayed by these NPC, and I don't believe for once second that its Naats can't portray nuances - I know he can.

I hope that you can tell me that it will improve, but if not, I would rather step off the trolley.

I might be wrong, but I believe we are "on a trolley" because we have yet to secure our own ship, with our own destination and our own individual jobs on said ship. We currently have a universal crisis that we're supposed to address that we may or may not be woefully unprepared for; it feels like we're about to find out based on the discussion with the Xaryxian princess.

Totally agree about the trolley. The story is very evidently meant to move PCs from one set-piece to another, and we're always doing something for someone. We're expected to side with the princess, that's for sure, and then our vampirate will take us to a meeting point. I suspect we'll find there that the coalition isn't working out, and we'll need to go somewhere to see someone to make that coalition happen. But bbeg gets wind of this, and breaks it apart. We then need to fix it by doing something, before we can finally go after him. I don't think it'll be the kind of adventure where we make a moral choice about who to support. Evil villain here is likely pretty much black and white, stop the genocidal maniac. And I suspect we're supposed to ooh-and-aah over all these over-the-top characters and locations.

That's my take, I think it feels familiar because with such an experienced group here, it all feels so colour-by-number.
