OOC:
Here is some additional information - answers to questions asked in the OOC thread.
The town. We'll call it... Bruga's Hold.
You have all been in town for at least a few days, longer if you wish. The town is simultaneously nothing special and a great place for an adventurer to call home base. There is a market for almost all common goods. Good food and places to sleep. It's home to a wide variety of different species. The nation in which the town sits is relatively stable and not particularly oppressive. Bruga's Hold sits on the edge of a dangerous expanse where civilization collapsed and it has become a wild frontier. This town has always had its supply of adventurers.
The divine emmissary (aka the Dungeon Master) set up a sort of shrine/kiosk in town to "register" potential competitors. The rules were made available, though they are few. The primary rule is you cannot engage the other team in "direct conflict". The divine emissary has refused to provide additional clarification on this rule, but warns that violating the rule is cause for disqualification.
Teams are not technically required to return to town at night. However, the divine emissary says that the entrances to the Shadowdome will be open only from Sunrise to Sunset (7am to 7pm game time, for convenience). There is no rule that you can't stay inside the dome overnight, but you are given the impression that it will be impossible to get a safe night's rest if you do.
The major inn and tavern has become a gathering place for all the competition hopefulls, and you have come to recognize most of them, at least by sight. On the day you received your rings, you all quickly found each other at breakfast in the tavern. You sas the ruby team do likewise. After eating their food, the ruby team left the tavern quickly. By the way they were looking at you, it seemed they didn't want to talk to each other further where you could hear.
