Ms. Calliope
Axel grins before turning back to face front when Ms. Calliope clears her throat.
"Alright, class. Listen up, please." She steps around her desk to stand in front of the class, her soft brown eyes drawing everyone in.
"Today, we're going to begin a journey into narrative writing. Narrative writing is, essentially, story writing. It can be fiction or non-fiction. It can also exist somewhere between the two." She slowly walks to your left, her eyes moving over the class.
"At the heart of great narrative writing is memorable characters. If the reader can't engage with the primary characters, the story will be lost, like sand through your fingers. So! I want everyone to work with two partners... and since we have three people in each row, that will work nicely."
She directs everyone to scoot their desks around, and you find that your partners are Axel and Jenny Kiely (Jenny the novel-writer who is totally into Will, of course).
"I want one of you to be the scribe for your group, and the other two will be the speakers. Take the first half of the class and discuss the following..." She moves to the dry-erase board and starts writing as she explains the assignment.
"Each of you will share a favorite character from a story. It can be a novel, a movie... even a comic book or a poem! You will discuss the inside and outside traits of that character, what makes them interesting and compelling, why you chose them as a favorite. I'll be at my desk if you have any questions." She sits down.
What do you do?
